It happens to be something untrue that you've been told & chose to believe.
Why you choose to believe it is entirely a matter for what we shall lightly call "your conscience".
BTW, the once-thriving Jewish community of Algeria has now withered to an estimated 50-200 individuals as a result of antisemitic violence & discrimination.
In Morocco, what was a large & thriving Jewish community established since Antiquity has shrunk to a couple of thousand for the same reason.
Tunisia, where the El-Ghriba Synagogue was known as "the Jerusalmen of North Africa" & attracted Jewish pilgrims from around the world, had a Jewish population of around 100,00 in the middle of the last century. It now has only around 1,500 Jews because of antisemtic violence & discrimination.
I note you don't mention Egypt, perhaps because you know that what was a large Jewish population, part of Egyptian life for millenia, is now less than a hundred people, mostly old ladies in the two major cities. Ask the Muslim Brotherhood why.
To deal with the rest of N Africa, the only Jews in Kuwait are foreigners, the last of Sudan's tiny Jewish community left in the 70s for the same reasons that so many Jews have quit Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt & Morocco, there are (barely) a handful of Jews left in Djibouti, the Adenite community there having, with commendable prescience, made aliyah decades ago. There is no resident Jewish community in Western Sahara, which leaves us just Libya. There, the Jews were almost entirely driven out after Independence in the 50s. A few individuals held out, hoping for better times, but the last Jew fled Libya in 2003.
Shall we do Yemen next? Or Afghanistan? Perhaps Syria? Or would you prefer Jordan, with its laws prohibiting Jews from citizenship or the ownership of property?
