habin · 14/12/2025 10:00

Just horrendous. There was a big Jewish gathering on the beach. Jewish festival goers targeted by two gunmen. At least ten people dead according to police.

Post from Adnan Hussain. What’s disappointing is the instant defensiveness before even sending condolences to the families of victims. What I want to see ‘we as Muslims must challenge and call out extremist ideology and antisemitism’, in the same way I would like to see the Catholic Church (mine) not instantly go on the defensive whenever yet another corruption or sex abuse scandal is uncovered.

It may be disappointing, but it’s completely on brand for him.

Zov · 14/12/2025 15:22

Oh gosh, this is terrible news. My thoughts are with the people affected. Flowers

But some of them won’t be appalled.

And all the thousands who are appalled but have been supportive of “from the river to the sea” messages should accept what they have, potentially unwittingly, supported… a rise in antisemitism

Equally some people supporting Israel openly support genocide. Some women commit crimes- are all women potential serial killers because Aileen Wuornos was a serial killer? Some men are rapists- are all men rapists. Some lawyers are shit. Some working class people commit crime, some middle class people also commit crime. I once had a bully female boss, would you say all women in power are bullies? There are 'some' idiots in every single imaginable community under the sun, do you tend to stretch the minority's views over the whole every single time?

This is utter nonsense.

Maybe; but I fear that any term with "Islam" in it will trigger automatic "We mustn't be horrid about Muslims" reponse, when Muslims per se are not the problem. It allows the perverse goals of radical Islam/Islamism to advance completely unchecked.

Quite.

Do you know the song Noel Coward wrote after WW2,

" Don't Let's Be Beastly to the Germans."

It includes the lyrics, " Let's be meek to them and turn the other cheek to them and try to bring out their latent sense of fun."

He wrote it to address and make fun of those who after the war-when feelings were raw- to highlight those in England who didn't think Germany should be punished, no matter what they had done.

You can hear it on YouTube, including Noel Coward singing it himself.

Churchill loved it and the BBC banned it!

The lyrics are apt today for those who are apologists for Islamic attacks on Jews.

Yet there will be fewer serial killers than working class petty criminals, by a very very long way. The examples you give don’t prove what you’re trying to prove.

habin · 14/12/2025 15:37

can Mumsnet HQ please explain what they removed my post saying that Hamas stated that they want to eradicate Israel. Unfuckingbelievable and buying into antisemitism on a day when Jews have suffered an antisemitic attack. Don’t take my word on it, read Hamas’s own words here:

Haven’t read the full thread.

This attack is beyond horrific, but sadly not surprising when antisemitism has been allowed to fester for years and antisemitic views are freely (sometimes almost proudly) expressed.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their families as well as Jewish communities everywhere. ❤️

I wonder if all the Pro Palestine supporters will acknowledge the role they have played in this?

overwhelming majority of whom would not condone today's killings.
the first protest for the UK was organised while the oct 7th attack was happening. They saw Jews being killed, raped, atracked and were like hmm we need to protest against Jews for Palestine.
chants of from the river to the sea, antisemitism signs, calls for infitada, the increase of antisemitism since oct 7th, I don’t think it’s so easy to say the majority would condone today’s killings actually.

A lot of my friends go to protests regularly, none sings from the land to the sea nor carry racists placards, and none over reported anyone seeing this on the protests they went to, just as I am horrified by the events of today and many others are too. So no, the vast majority would not do this, but I guess it's easier/more comfortable to believe the 'other side' is full of evil, twisted, blood thirsty people who have no compassion, it fits your agenda better. It does not make it true.

My god, that was absolutely not my intention!!! How dare you even insinuate that. My meaning was there wasn't anything suggesting in the reporting that the Jewish community is targeted. You (and im sure many many others - gross!!) really have taken my comment way out of what I meant - id never insinuate anything so awful.

Yes you did and you've done it before on other threads too about the same subject so please save the faux horror at being called out for it.

my agenda? Of seeing the antisemitism in these marches and the antisemitic origins, the first one was literally being planned during the attack, they may not have seen it but they can’t deny it exists.

The PSC who organise the marches, claim there’s no problem with From the River to the Sea.

I remember once hearing or reading the fact that since the world started to record civilizations history
We have only ever had 10 years worth of days when no wars were ever fought anywhere here on earth
Very sad times and true condolences

@Sewingaddict there are always those in here who deny ever seeing anything anti Jewish or people shouting slogans and yet we KNOW it’s true. Gaslighting at its finest!

Of course they won’t! They will however see the link between the Tommy Robinson marches and anti immigrant violence however.

What's being a pro-Palestinian supporter to do with this?
As the grandchild of an orthodox Jew, you can be both pro-Palestinian and abhor anti-Semitism, and support Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state.
Deaths in the West Bank and Gaza don't seem to count as much as deaths in Israel and Australia. Just yesterday the IDF shot dead an unarmed teenager in front his family for no particular reason. That's hardly registered as it's so common.

At best your friends are useful idiots. If they can’t see a link between what they do and today’s murders then I truly despair.

Teddleshon1 · 14/12/2025 15:52

It’s just not credible that anyone attending a pro Palestinian march hasn’t heard “from the river to the sea” chants or witnessed anti semitic tropes. We’ve all seen the footage and I’ve witnessed 3 of these London marches in person.

Matthew Syed wrote a very good piece in The Times on his attendance at a recent one which tallied with my own experience.

HoneyParsnipSoup · 14/12/2025 15:52

you can be both pro-Palestinian and abhor anti-Semitism, and support Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state.

You can’t though as belief in the latter makes you an evil Zionist and therefore the antithesis of the former.

Thank you Ahmed al Ahmed. The latest in an honourable line of (presumably) Muslim men who have been heroes in defence of Jews.

His heroism is one bright spark in a very dark day. Jews are not safe anywhere. A couple of previous posters have said things like this is a wake up call for our security services. I very much doubt our security services are not fully awake. Remember that for every terrorist incident we hear about, there are many more that were thwarted or abandoned. We obviously can't be told about these. We have to assume there are multiple cells looking for opportunities to murder Jews. That is our reality.

Really poor comparisons there.

Woefully poor.

If thousands of people went marching IN SUPPORT OF SERIAL KILLERS, and there was a rise in murders by SERIAL KILLERS, would you think those people who had marched in support of serial killers should reconsider their actions?
