Bondi beach mass shooting

Just horrendous. There was a big Jewish gathering on the beach. Jewish festival goers targeted by two gunmen. At least ten people dead according to police.

But Farage and his ilk (Reform, BNP, EDL) hate Jewish people. Farage himself is said to have targeted Jewish people when he was 15 or 16. And they also hate Muslims which by the sound of it was the hero that disarmed one of the gunmen. So these groups aren’t really in a position to be having much of an opinion at all on this.

I've always seen Right wing politics as more aligned with Israel and the Jewish community in the last 30 years with Trump and the Abraham Accords, support of Israel's bombing of Iran and funding for Israel.

In the UK Tommy Robinson (a.k.a. Stephan Yaxley Lennon)recently made a high profile visit to Israel and has a lot of support from Israeli people because of his beliefs about muslim immegration.

The BNP I think are white Nationalists (Nazi sympathisers) but they are not the majority view of the Right which has many different viewpoints.

The Left has more leaning towards the Muslim Community with minorities voting more for Labour in the last election. Hatred of the Jewish communities comes more from this direction at the moment.

This is just so awful, completely innocent people gunned down during a lovely celebration.

It's quite possible to believe the Israeli government is guilty of genocide and to believe 100% that innocent people around the world deserve to be able to go peacefully about their religion, whatever it is - and that nothing justifies this.

Unfortunately so many people on both sides are so horribly black and white in their thinking that I wonder how there could ever be peace. It's so sad.

And yet it was westerners who kicked the jews out of Europe after genociding them.
So why would it be an Islamic issue?

Perhaps study the history of Jews under Islamic rule.
It wasn't all sunshine and roses. There are virtually no Jews in those countries now. Many left with a suitcase and the clothes they stood up in.

The right tend to like their Jews to be in Israel. Having said that I've seen people on the right talking about the Jews in Israel as an example of the 'problem with immigrants'. The bottom line is that Jew hate comes from all over the place, including from the 'committed anti-racists'

If you genuinely believe that Israel is guilty of genocide, you're buying into a narrative based around Hamas propaganda that demonises the Jewish state.

This demonisation feeds into rising antisemitism.

And yet people are STILLallowed to marching the UK holding massive signs calling for infitada. Why aren’t the arrested? What do people think it’s means? It’s means this - killing Jews.

No killing is justified. Supporting Palestine does not mean at all people condone killing innocent Jewish people. Such twisted rhetoric is really toxic and does nothing for protecting of the Jewish community.
You could focus on this horrible crime without dragging Palestine supporters into the argument, overwhelming majority of whom would not condone today's killings.

Do you think marches such as Unite the Kingdom have any link with attacks on immigrants?

But some of them won’t be appalled.

And all the thousands who are appalled but have been supportive of “from the river to the sea” messages should accept what they have, potentially unwittingly, supported… a rise in antisemitism

Yes, we all definitely remember protestors objecting to "from the river to the sea" and "globalise the intifada".

yep, blatant antisemitic hate marches happening all the time. As David Baddiel says in the title of his book: Jews don’t count.

Jews don’t count.

Im sorry but this just isnt true. Governments and communities all over the world will be disgusted by this act of terror on the beach and there' will be an outpouring of support, righly so. These gunmen are private individuals who have carried out this vile attack. They do not represent the rest of the world. Many many different groups of ppl are targeted for various reasons at different times all over the world and the jewish community is not alone in being scared. jewish lives does matter and there will be millions all over the world that will agree.

This. They can all apparently see that Tommy 10 Names and a 1000 people at a carol service is stoking bigotry, but tens of thousands of people marching week after week with banners linking the Star of David to Nazis, or chanting "from the river to the sea" or glorifying the intifada, definitely has no impact whatsoever.

That man who stopped the murderer was amazing. Thank God for brave men.

He was indeed heroic, saved many lives. He has been identified as a local Muslim, Ahmed el Ahmed. After disarming the terrorist he was hit by bullets from the other one on the bridge, but is now OK in hospital.

Sewingaddict · 14/12/2025 15:07

overwhelming majority of whom would not condone today's killings.
the first protest for the UK was organised while the oct 7th attack was happening. They saw Jews being killed, raped, atracked and were like hmm we need to protest against Jews for Palestine.
chants of from the river to the sea, antisemitism signs, calls for infitada, the increase of antisemitism since oct 7th, I don’t think it’s so easy to say the majority would condone today’s killings actually.

You could have just left it at Prayers for the dead and the injured. The tweet is unnecessary. I'd say disarming one of the gun men was a very civilised act, wouldn't you?

I think there is a bit of revisionism in that. The short Austrian corporal, the Charlottesville ticky torch parade.

For sure, the far right, as in Tommy ten names are trying to re-invent themselves , but lets not be fooled. While they say they have a common enemy, lets not forget who the far right hate the most, after communists. And lets remember what they say about communism.

stomachamelon · 14/12/2025 15:12

@Howwilliknow122 sorry but there are elements of your statement that just aren’t true. There are governments throughout the world that have turned a collective blind eye and have allowed antisemitism to run rampantly because…… why?! They are frightened to tackle things? Don’t want to be accused of racism?

It’s all very well releasing statements to say how terribly sorry they all are but it means nothing when you are standing back and allowing the targeting of a community. It would NOT be acceptable publicly if it was anyone else!!

‘These gunmen are private individuals’ is just a poor excuse. They didn’t meet up and decide to have a fun afternoon out taking pot shots at a community. This has been coming for a while and certain governments are complicit!!

Jews don’t count.

So thankful he’s alive and will recover.

Revised because to say ‘well’ wouldn’t be accurate given he has been shot.

yeah and that’s what the Free Palestine puppets don’t realise. They want Jews eradicated, they don’t want a peaceful resolution. They want death to all Jews and the destruction of Israel.

This is utter nonsense.

I also find it interesting that ‘IT’S THEIR LAND THEY WERE THERE FIRST’* is a left wing saying when referring to Palestine, but very very far right when speaking about any country in the West

*debatable, as it is with any country

Agree ...I've heard lots of disgusting comments like go back to Poland...from people who wouldn't dare dream of saying that about any other group of people.

HoneyParsnipSoup · 14/12/2025 15:19

Post from Adnan Hussain. What’s disappointing is the instant defensiveness before even sending condolences to the families of victims. What I want to see ‘we as Muslims must challenge and call out extremist ideology and antisemitism’, in the same way I would like to see the Catholic Church (mine) not instantly go on the defensive whenever yet another corruption or sex abuse scandal is uncovered.

You can’t argue with “The Tendy Free Palestine “
brigade… half of them don’t even know what they are marching for and the other half are blatantly racist… it’s shocking those marches were allowed to and are still allowed to go ahead.
people openly supporting the call for Jews to be killed is disgusting but we are not allowed to say that or we are racist!
Radical Islam is the problem the world now faces and those that March are supporters of that!
