Just horrendous. There was a big Jewish gathering on the beach. Jewish festival goers targeted by two gunmen. At least ten people dead according to police.

@Outside9 really, you see no relevance at all between the pro Palestinian cause and attacks on Jews? Have you not seen people chanting “globalise the intifada”, tearing down pictures of the hostages, wearing insignias of paragliders, murdering Jews in the US? All in the explicit name of the Palestinian cause.

Not just murdering Jews in the US. What about the attack in Manchester on Yom Kippur? And yet people march every week making the centre of London and other cities unsafe for Jews. Banners like this being carried. Well this is what they want. Globalise the intifada, murder Jews. Well they've got what they want.

I know this thread is turning into the usual bun fight, but honestly, my eyes are full of tears watching that incredible man, Ahmed al Ahmed, wrestle an armed terrorist’s gun away from him. Putting his own life at risk to save others. A brave soul. The footage of him sitting on the ground being tended to shows an ordinary man. Except he’s anything but ordinary.

DoubleShotEspresso · 14/12/2025 13:23

Greysowhat · 14/12/2025 13:14

This is blatant bullying of @Whenlifegiveslemons

@Greysowhat Did you read the original now deleted post made by @Whenlifegiveslemons ?

If yes, I fail to understand how you, or anybody of sound mind could not read my post, in response to theirs, as proportionate. I have not wished them harm, I just refuse to accept such vile, inflammatory, disgraceful comments literally moments after such horrific event play out on tv.
I am grateful to MNHQ for deleting the post as it was in all honesty the most deeply offensive I have ever read on here and has no place in a civilised society. If we are to have any chance in this awful world right now, we must stop ignoring our history and thus stop permitting this kind of offensiveness being in any way acceptable for public posting.
So I stand by my comment, it all boils down to the "gif you have nothing nice to say, say nothing", which in today's context surely should be basic enough for even @Whenlifegiveslemons to follow?

Forgiveness is greatly assisted by apologies though, so there's that too... I can wait....

Hey Mumnset will you delete this comment or is it okay because its hate speech directed towards muslims

HappyFace2025 · 14/12/2025 13:24

LeonMccogh · 14/12/2025 12:48

Yep. Somewhere in the next few days an unrelated, innocent Muslim person will be targeted in “retaliation”…then there’ll be another antisemitic incident…and so on…and so forth…

You are so very wrong. No Jews have ever retaliated against Muslims after horrific attacks like this one in Australia and the recent one in Manchester or even those in the US. Jews are not violent people.

agathacrisps · 14/12/2025 13:24

My Jewish friends in London won’t go into the city centre as they don’t feel safe. Happening right now in the UK. Shameful

BadgernTheGarden · 14/12/2025 13:24

Whenlifegiveslemons · 14/12/2025 10:31

Its horrendous, absolutely awful. A terrorist attack in this day & age, on a peaceful beach should never happen. Ive seen no reports its linked to the Jewish community being targeted - so to suggest that in this thread is incorrect.

The event targeted was celebrating a Jewish religious holiday. Just join the dots!

LeonMccogh · 14/12/2025 13:25

Honestly I’m just starting to think that religion (any and all flavours) is the real problem here

PP is talking about radical Islam.

sciaticafanatica · 14/12/2025 13:26

@NewmumOct it s not hate speech against Muslims. It’s a fact that it’s Islamist terrorist.
maybe you need to learn the difference between the two 🙄

What's been happening in Gaza then? That looked pretty violent to me.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 14/12/2025 13:27

huh. My post in response to the person being so dismissive of my parents real fears has been deleted. Interesting.

Are we allowed to say Jewish people feel afraid on here?

PurpleThistle7 · 14/12/2025 13:27

Greysowhat · 14/12/2025 13:13

That is just not true.

It actually is true for the ones that happen on my work campus (a big university). Their Twitter page actually states their goal is to eradicate Israel and send all Israelis back to Europe. The ones who aren’t dead in the intifada of course.

and regardless of original intent, what has happened is endless fear for Jews worldwide. What has happened is my 9 year old being bullied at school and then physically attacked a couple years later by a group of teenagers in the hallway of her high school yelling ‘free Palestine’ in her face and surrounding her. What has happened is swatstikas on my dad’s synagogue with a Palestinian flag and my son’s friend not being allowed to attend his birthday party because we are Jewish and he is Muslim. These have all happened after this horrible marches and they have targeted my family as we are Jewish. We aren’t representing Israel, we are Jewish.

I don’t think people really understand what it’s been like for over 2 years now. It’s endless and exhausting and so, so sad.

it’s a criticism of radicals islam.
This BBC article from TWELVE years ago, warns about the danger of radical islam:

Viewpoint: What do radical Islamists actually believe in? - BBC News

After a British soldier was killed in south London, apparently by Islamist fundamentalists, Dr Usama Hasan explains how to tackle their beliefs.

Teddleshon1 · 14/12/2025 13:28

@NewmumOct you seem to be conflating radical Islam with Muslims in general. Some people would see that as hate speech.

Hometimeithink · 14/12/2025 13:30

HNRTFT but am absolutely horrified by this atrocity.I was at Bondi 2 weekends ago and it was the last place I would ever have expected to have this kind of terrorism. My thoughts are with everyone who were involved in this carnage.Absolutely terrible 😔

2DemisSVP · 14/12/2025 13:31

EsmaCannonball · 14/12/2025 11:32

Well, yes, but we don't seem to have a problem with extremist Quakers or to have to put up bollards around Christmas markets in case some Sikhs get out of hand. You can't resolve the problem unless you recognise the problem.

I don’t disagree.

itsnotfairisit · 14/12/2025 13:32

BadgernTheGarden · 14/12/2025 13:26

That was an attack inside the borders of the Jewish state of Israel. The government of Israel took action. What would our government had done following a similar raid in its citizens? Who knows? And I’m happy to debate the rights or wrongs of Israel’s actions.
But don’t make the rookie error of conflating the actions of a state with the (non) actions of millions of Jews who live peacefully throughout the world.
Astonished that you cannot tell the diffwrwnce. But then that’s the problem isn’t it?

Because radical Islam poses the same threat as the old fascisms we know all too well from history, but cannot even be discussed because of the fear of Islamophobia - if we learned anything from the past century, it is that racism is always wrong.

In my view, not understanding the difference between Islam and radical Islam is itself a form of racism, and a very dangerous one. For one thing, this ignorance conflates all branches of the world's second-largest religion as though they all mean the same thing.

More importantly, for the state of the world right now, including the UK, it gives a free pass to malevolent forces that literally have as their goal the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people, and permits so-called "liberals" to respond to such atrocities with "Yes, but..."

This is not a matter of whataboutism
I am responding to the statement that said Islam is not compatible to the west.

Over 2 million muslims call the UK their home and Islam is their faith. So you are saying that the 2 million in the UK and the 1 billion people in the world are the cause of what exactly?
Please don't forget your history and your legacy and your actions and continued actions in the 20th and 21st century.

Yes we are. We have a Chanukah event this afternoon and considering cancelling as the parents are so scared. It’s been an absolute nightmare for years now and only getting worse. I’m so scared for my kids I can’t think.

We are also going to a public event this afternoon. We've been assured that CST and the police will he present. I'm loathe to cancel as we have the right to celebrate. But we should be able to celebrate without fear.
