This is the bumper Christmas issue with the added challenge of all the work Xmas brings and feelings it might bring up...but we're here. Highs and lows. 🌲🌲😴🤕🤗

Oh heck @Stressybetty that sounds really stressful and unpleasant for you. Sending sympathy and hope your DH can talk to landlord and things are calmer today.

Songlines · 07/01/2026 09:51

@Stressybetty no wonder you've got an adrenaline spike! When you said that you knew you'd have to move is that because of the dogs? What a worry.

I've had a call from the hospital this morning. Appointment with neurosurgeon booked for 4 weeks time. Let's see what he says, hopefully I'll stay on the 'let's continue to monitor this' regime 🤞🤞

TodayIsatrickyone · 07/01/2026 10:08

MewithME · 06/01/2026 17:24

@TodayIsatrickyone I soooo want a little dog again one day. They're yappy but mini dachshunds are super cute

Our little rescue is also a mini Daschund! She is adorable and very sweet but definitely has issues that weren’t fully told about. We rehomed 2 sausage dogs before this one who just made me fall in love with the breed but we were at least aware this time that they can be clingy, stubborn, reactive to other dogs and yappy! Yet we saw our little one on the rescue website and just knew we needed each other!

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/01/2026 12:52

We had loads of rain last night and all the snow has gone. DH was going to go to DD’s to use her printer ( Big fat raspberry to BT and EE, we still have no Wi-Fi) She said it was treacherous near her but this morning the ice has melted so now he’s gone.

Lots of house cleaning/tidying lined up for today. I am really hoping our viewers cancel on Friday, and that our preferred buyers get a move on so we can go under offer.

I keep thinking about you @Stressybetty and hope things get sorted out. Surely you were allowed pets, so what’s the big deal? DD2 rents out a little house and always allows pets and it’s never caused the slightest problem. Presumably your landlord is being well paid! Fingers crossed it’s just a storm in a teacup.

FurForksSake · 07/01/2026 13:03

Afternoon! We had lots of rain over night but people were still saying it was a bit slippery in places. Kids went off to school and have made it in one piece and dh is in his London office. House feels a bit quiet.

Hip is very sore and flaring, I see consultant for discharge tomorrow. Supposed to be back at work next week, but as i said, that won’t be happening now. Grrr

Stressybetty · 07/01/2026 15:15

Afternoon, thanks for your messages. Yes we were allowed pets but he's all over the place now denying that and then saying he knew and was fine with it. He now doesn't know what he wants.
Told it would be probably just 12 months initially. We wouldn't stay now if we could knowing we're being watched.
Feeling awful today, had headache, sinus, dizzy. Rang in sick and have hid in bed but can't sleep.
He's text saying he's emailed but can't face reading it, will let DH do it. I hate having anxiety.

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/01/2026 15:28

@Stressybetty How awful - he sounds very unprofessional. No wonder you are feeling overwhelmed with stress. Yes let DH deal with him, you should prioritise your health.

It sounds as if you want to move anyway, what are your options to get a suitable house? Preferably one with no neighbours!

We had a horrible neighbour once, forever complaining about nothing. I just felt persecuted. I think he had MH problems so we could never reason with him. He was awful to his other neighbours too. Seriously it could just be one nosey parker complaining, not several.

Kitterkitkat · 07/01/2026 15:47

Sorry someone asked about sour cherry tea upthread: the one I get is delicious and from waitrose, it's naturally a bit sweet (so much so that I checked the ingredient list for honey) and is supposed to help with melatonin.

But £££ so I only buy when it's on discount

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/01/2026 15:58

@Kitterkitkat I do find Waitrose can be quite good for discounts on speciality teas. I’ve been stockpiling Pukka Three Mint for the last few weeks!

MewithME · 07/01/2026 16:03

It was me that asked about the tea. I love herbal tea though not so much the fruit ones. I got a lovely pukka selection box for Christmas. I have come the the conclusion they all taste more or less the same though 😆

DH rang the EE helpline again, and the chap looked on the repairs list and said it was due to be working ‘by 7.30 tonight’. That Status Update has been online since Monday!

I suppose it won’t get fixed before all the snow….

MewithME · 07/01/2026 16:05

Aw @Stressybetty I'm sorry this sounds really hard. As someone mentioned, citizen's advice can help plus they can't just kick you out.

I love their ThreeMint, I think having Spearmint in makes it nicer. Peppermint tea can be hit or miss but I had a nice Twinings one the other week.

MewithME · 07/01/2026 16:13

Haha ... You e instantly caught me out. Yes, the mint ones are obviously different 😁

I have flavours like "relax" and "love" . Hippy selection... they're nice but v similar.

Ooh I had probs with EE, resolved this morning.

@MewithME this tea is honestly not like the usual fruit/herbal but I'm waiting until it's on discount.

Love mint tea and chamomile and honey as well.

I'm doing a lot better as I'm taking my medication. I stopped it as I had a nasty cold and was taking cold meds with paracetamol until GP said "what are you doing that for?" and I mumbled and went back on it.

Swings and roundabouts sometimes, isn't it! Hope no-one in too much pain 🌺

Swanhilde · 07/01/2026 16:47

Home from work, in bed with a cuppa and crisps 😊

Absolutely knackered and achy all over even with pain killers. So glad I only work 3 days and I can lie in tomorrow. I have acupuncture as well, so hopefully that should help 🤞

Baked potato for tea and I will try to stay awake this evening for the Traitors 🥱

Have a restful night all 💕

MewithME · 07/01/2026 16:53

I'm liking your work @Swanhilde . I am also in bed with a herbal tea. I'm hungry. I will have to go bung a ready meal in the oven.

DS with his dad for another hour or so.

I'm shattered. (So what's new ! ) But yes, yay...Traitors! I get so excited and then have trouble sleeping ... How sad am I?

Swanhilde · 07/01/2026 17:01

I have been waking with adrenaline rushes the last couple of mornings, which I'm hoping is because I'm back at work and the alarm is set. 🤞 it won't happen tomorrow ...

And we have a mountain of Christmas crisps still to eat. DD and her friends bought loads more so I have a cupboard of half eaten packs to make my way slowly through! It's a tough job 😋

FuzzyPuffling · 07/01/2026 17:02

I went out for coffee with a women's group this morning, but now I've got a mean headache.
On the good side, I came home via M & S food dept and found a salmon and broccoli quiche with a yellow sticker, so that's tea sorted.

Songlines · 07/01/2026 17:07

@FuzzyPuffling I love that quiche! I had one for lunch and keep one in the freezer for when I cba to cook.
Today I've de-bobbled my favourite jumper and de-cluttered two drawers in the bathroom. Tomorrow I'll do the same, I think

Oh good...I like a recommendation! And a quiche..

You have reminded me I need to do some de-bobbling too. Thanks!

Quiche recommendation duly noted! We are only round the corner from an M and S food hall so it sounds worth a look. We’ve tried Waitrose quiches and even the luxury ones are disappointing.

Songlines · 07/01/2026 17:24

They do them in the 3 for £8 range so I tend to buy 3 and keep them in the freezer.
I have an M&S food hall 6 minutes walk away and it's my closest food shop that isn't a convenience store. This is dangerous 😀

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/01/2026 17:55

Thanks @Songlines worth a look!

Hello you lovely lot, would love to join if there's a place at the table!
Have osteoporosis and a chronic blood disorder plus a few other ghastly things.
I took early retirement last year and am now focusing on pacing whilst writing a novel (which has always been my dream).
Have followed this thread for a while and it's very comforting. I am around a lot of people who seem in perfect health and it seems to constantly scramble my expectations.
