This is the bumper Christmas issue with the added challenge of all the work Xmas brings and feelings it might bring up...but we're here. Highs and lows. 🌲🌲😴🤕🤗

Excellent news @FurForksSake

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/01/2026 14:03

Still in bed with a beetroot cup a soup. Have not managed the yoga again, never mind, or a bath. Might try running one soon.

Megsdaughter · 13/01/2026 14:10

Ive managed two loads of washing, drying folding and putting away. Vacummed the living room rug and emptied and filled the dishwasher. Back on the sofa now exhausted. Having to keep right knee straight as if i bend it it locks and is so painful to stand on it.

To think I was a Childminder for 25 years with 6 children in my charge! Then a Nanny for ten years till Lupus and Fibromyalgia became to much and i retired when last charge went to senior school. I had been part time since he went to school though.

Spend a lot of time reading and knitting now, and go to a knit and natter once a week, so do get out sometines. DH is brilliant and the last i can do the more he does. Maybe not to my standards but not bad. 😁

Orangesandlemons77 · 13/01/2026 14:20

Knit and natter sounds good. I expect you can drop in and out, I hope the group is nice Megsdaughter

In the nursery we had 24 children between 3 of us (8 each was the ratio) 3-4 yr olds, it was ok until one had a break or they all needed sun cream applied or something.

Having 6 on your own must be hard though as no-one to share with / take a break.

I do look back and think how did that work but somehow, it did.

MewithME · 13/01/2026 15:48

Just back from work. Actually had a really nice day 😀 What's wrong with me? 🤔😂

Beetroot cup a soup? Ohhhh. Like the sound of that.

I've been to Lidl and have school run for DGS later.
I used to work in neuro research..

Ohhhh you're a boffin! That's impressive.

Anyone seen that old Mitchell and Webb sketch with the brain surgeon at a party? 😁 Saw it on FB the other day. Still funny.

You have been assimilated!

Megsdaughter · 13/01/2026 16:21

@Orangesandlemons77 I only had three under 5's during the day. The older three were before and after school so it wasn't too hard. I also took trainee Nursery Nurses from the local college who were mostly a great help. Loved the job, although it was long hours as opened at 7 and didnt close till 6, then had paperwork, planning and shopping and toy cleaning and such on top of those hours.
DH was in the Army at the time and away a lot of the time so it was just me and DGD most of the time so i just got on with it. Most enjoyable years of my life though.

It's some kind of healthy cup a soup with different veggies it's called Soul Kitchen and you can get it online.

Haha I do hope not 😅 I was chairing today so I was probably happy because I was in charge,🤔🙈 it was fairly productive and everyone did a good job and said nice things.

Thanks. I just bought a sample pack. These would be great for work. Actual cuppa soup is horrible to me these days.

Ooh! I think I’ll order some of those next month. They look really nice.

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/01/2026 16:57

Fell asleep lying on our very hard sofa, woke up refreshed apart from sharp pain in my worse hip. My mind always jumps to worse case scenario so spent a few minutes self-diagnosing a hip fracture but it had cured itself by the time I'd walked about a bit lol...I think everything has been loosened up by the deep tissue massage yesterday and I am feeling muscles that felt numb before. I have a few gentle exercises to do.

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/01/2026 16:59

@Megsdaughter that sounds like such a happy time!

Swanhilde · 13/01/2026 17:26

Back from work and in bed with knitting and a cuppa 🧶☕

DH is cooking tonight - sausage, egg and chips 😋

DD is back home again between exams and it's DS's birthday today. He's spending tonight at home with GF, but we'll see them on Friday for a little family get together 🎉

Have a restful evening all 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 13/01/2026 17:47

Nothing like a good sausage @Swanhilde ! We buy our Lincolnshire sausages from the farm shop, they're always winning medals for their free range pork products. DH hates too much seasoning and these just have a touch of sage for flavour.

Stressybetty · 13/01/2026 19:34

Evening all, still exhausted with rotten ongoing peri spotting and what seems to be a cold. Really need a good night's sleep but between not switching off at night and MIL can't seem to manage it.
DH birthday today, was late ordering his present but got him something to open.
Looking for new rental houses but just nervous of landlords and the whole rental process now!
Sorry but really don't like beetroot so will pass on the soup!
The sausage egg and chips sounds good though if I can add baked beans?

With mushrooms too!

Hope you sort out a new place soon. It will be so nice when you can feel secure again.

I found When Harry Met Sally on iPlayer so we watched that yet again! It's such a classic.

Middlemarch123 · 13/01/2026 21:42

I’m in bed rewatching Last Tango in Halifax, my comfort tv, and three cats watching with me. Lovely long swim yesterday, and got DS to get his old exercise bike out of the garage, and did a little workout on it. Actually enjoyed it. I walk a lot, am a dog walker, but it’s good to do different exercises. I don’t count walking as exercise because it’s my job if you see what I mean. Am exhausted now, but in a nice, relaxed way. Sending hugs to all xx

Morning all, sorry I've been MIA, I've just had a very rough 5 days and decided to take some time off my phone to help me decompress (it really helped). There are too many posts to read that I've missed but I did catch wind that @TeaAndStrumpets finally got the broadband back on! 😁

MewithME · 14/01/2026 06:56

Hey @Realisation14 good to have you back and that you've been looking after yourself.
