This is the bumper Christmas issue with the added challenge of all the work Xmas brings and feelings it might bring up...but we're here. Highs and lows. 🌲🌲😴🤕🤗

@Songlines ah yes I struggle to tell what’s normal. So when someone asks if something hurts I have to really focus in and think if it’s something old or new hurting!
Which sounds crazy to people who don’t have pain all day!

Kitterkitkat · 05/01/2026 23:49

Jumping in if that's OK? I'm not in any pain but my innards are damaged from a disease and I collapse in public frequently 😳

I enjoyed this afternoon at work, then went to pharmacy to pick up medication. At one point I was wobbly so put a steadying hand against the wall. Luckily as it's slippery no-one thought anything of it. Now have some sour cherry tea although I doubt I'll sleep properly tonight.

MewithME · 06/01/2026 07:29

@SugarCookieMonster I often have to think about how I'm feeling in a very objective way. If I catch a virus or something.... "Is this my normal level of feeling ill or do I have extra ill? "

@Kitterkitkat welcome. That sounds quite scary to deal with when you're out and about. Do you have a stick? I use one if I am out for a walk (on a good day) but don't when I'm at work or if I have to go to a shop. I've thought about getting a fold up one just in case though.

Also...sour cherry tea? Sounds interesting!

My tree is still up. . Priorities! Couldn't be doing with it today. All other decorations are down. I'll do it in stages.

That's what I did - stages!

Realisation14 · 06/01/2026 08:01

The snow has turned to compacted ice today, which is wonderful because I have to go out several times today (do you detect my sarcasm?), school run this morning and then DS has haircut and dentist this afternoon. Trying to put as many errands into the one day so I can rest more tomorrow. Yesterday was a hard day, flare up of my IBS and GERD but thankfully I stayed home and took it easy, had a bath, listened to podcasts, very light housework.

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/01/2026 10:22

@Realisation14 be careful out there! It’s very icy here with snow due later. DH has gone to the pharmacy and I worry he’ll trip. He has an old back injury and a permanent limp, so not the steadiest on his feet.

Nice see some new names, welcome all!

unsurprisingly still no phone or broadband.

Songlines · 06/01/2026 13:05

Cleaner has been in and done some of the SJs on my list. She's fabulous and said to me when she started 'There's no point you paying me for the jobs you can manage so I'll do what you can't ' How refreshing! So she cleans the bathroom, mops the floors, hoovers everywhere but leaves things like the kitchen worktops/microwave to me. Makes me feel better that I'm not totally useless. Today she cleaned the banisters, all the fiddly/twisty bits, wiped down the insides of the door frames, took down the Christmas garlands and carried my Christmas decs box upstairs.
I pay her from my Attendance Allowance which I'm so grateful for.

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/01/2026 14:11

@Songlines she sounds like a treasure, and so understanding too!

TodayIsatrickyone · 06/01/2026 15:03

What a fab cleaner @Songlines You must feel pleased shes managed all of that.
A quiet morning here as Im dog sitting for a friend this afternoon just for a couple of hours. Her little sausage dog has separation anxiety so I’m happy to sit on the sofa and chill with him, it’s what I’d be doing at home anyway but nice to have a change of sofa and be able to help out now and then.
DH is going to drop me off there and we’ll get fish and chips for dinner on the way home.

FurForksSake · 06/01/2026 15:11

I’ve done very little today. Hydro yesterday so wiped out and sore today. I’m definitely going to be having another month off. I was mad thinking I could go back next week. I’m still in a lot of pain and doing anything approaching normal lands me in pain and fatigue.

TodayIsatrickyone · 06/01/2026 15:20

That sounds like a sensible approach to your return to work @FurForksSake It’s probably best to err on the side of caution rather than go back too soon and struggle. Will you be able to do a phased return at all?

FurForksSake · 06/01/2026 15:22

Yes, hopefully over 6-8 weeks starting with 25%. I am hoping to do it over four days with the middle day using up some annual leave.

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/01/2026 15:23

Take it easy @FurForksSake you have come so far there’s no point pushing too hard.

@TodayIsatrickyone I just love sausage dogs! My Aunt had one when I was little. He was called Fagin because he was a thief! (Don’t know his original name presumably didn’t suit him lol)

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/01/2026 15:28

Even though we have a pretty sound potential buyer they are taking their time. No official offer yet so agent is still sending viewers arghh. I know it is sensible but I don’t want to start cleaning and tidying again!

SugarCookieMonster · 06/01/2026 15:38

Weirdly I just had a phone all from the GP I spoke to yesterday. He said that they jumped the gun on texting me to come in. A specialist should have included a treatment with the report they received but they hadn’t and after speaking to another GP to check (he was quite young so possibly newly qualified), they want the specialist plan especially as my hip result was borderline for Osteoporosis. So they’re going to chase the specialist to confirm the correct treatment plan. It’s possible they’ll want to refer me to the bone clinic.

I’m glad they’re being thorough and that he double checked. Hoping it won’t take too long to find out what’s going to happen.

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/01/2026 15:45

Eek there’s a white van with flashing lights parked just down the road - can it be???

Watch this space!

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/01/2026 16:01

@SugarCookieMonster just to reassure you I have been treated for full blown osteoporosis for over a decade. I take one pill a month, my choice as I don’t want injections. You just get used to it. I recommend contacting the Royal Osteoporosis Society if you have any questions.

Stayed for 10 minutes and drove off!!

SugarCookieMonster · 06/01/2026 16:32

@TeaAndStrumpets thank you! I’m going to do a bit of research over the next few days so that’s super helpful to know.

Swanhilde · 06/01/2026 16:59

Home from work, feeling slightly more human today. Resting in bed with a cuppa ☕

DH will cook tonight AND he took all the decorations down yesterday while I was at work ❤️

Have a peaceful evening all - I will be having another early night 💕

I am VERY invested (as they like to say on MN). Flipping eck!

My poor neighbour still has the gas people digging and messing about outside her house.

I'm having a rest before tea. It's going to be fish fingers. I am too tired.

I bought my friend some socks for Christmas that day I Can't be Arsed. Should have got myself some Grin

Horrible anxious adrenaline spike this evening after landlord and agent called about our dogs.
Knew we would probably have to leave in a few months anyway but certainly didn't expect landlords friends in the street spying on us and reporting back and also next door recording our back garden on their CCTV.
Landlord now threatening that he can let himself in as long as he gives us 48 hours notice.
DH spoke to him and dealing with it. He hasn't protected our deposit or given us an inventory.
Plus MIL acting up.

FurForksSake · 07/01/2026 07:11

@Stressybetty can you speak to shelter or citizens advice for information and support? It sounds awful.

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/01/2026 08:32

@Stressybetty that sounds awful! You are supposed to be able to relax in your own home, not be spied on and filmed. I hope it gets sorted out soon. Xx
