This is the bumper Christmas issue with the added challenge of all the work Xmas brings and feelings it might bring up...but we're here. Highs and lows. 🌲🌲😴🤕🤗

I'm currently in bed with a cuppa, where I will spend the rest of the day with my knitting

It always makes me feel better to read stuff like that! Have a good day

Hmmmm, morning didn't quite pan out as planned. I forget what an almighty jigsaw it is every Christmas fitting the extra stuff in the fridge and pantry! And I made the cranberry sauce too 😋

Still it's done now and I'm back in bed with another cuppa. Plan for the rest of the day, as above ☕🧶

Does anyone else love the Christmas fridge thread on here each year?

VikingNorthUtsire · 23/12/2025 13:49

This morning I have wrapped some presents, been for a swim, cried twice, and made soup for everyone using cheap supermarket veg. Now in bed with tea ☕ I need to log on and finish some work later, and am working tomorrow but giving myself permission (as my boss is already on holiday) to finish early.

Went to our local for a quiz night yesterday - I'd originally said no but everyone else in the house was really keen plus it's our local so lots of friends and neighbours there. I got a lovely high backed chair (it's one of those pubs with a random/eclectic mix of chairs) so was effectively able to snooze my way through the quiz, occasionally opening my eyes to contribute an answer.

FurForksSake · 23/12/2025 14:03

Quiz sounds lovely!

Sorry for the tears.

we managed a walk! Cleaner has been and we’ve got all the Christmas food. I’m now suffering with terrible heart burn for the third day in a row for no real reason. I’m assuming it’s the roast dinner from Sunday and Mounjaro. I’ve been on it since August 2@24 and don’t really get side effects now!

BerfyTigot · 23/12/2025 16:22

Had a very busy (for me) day yesterday, so have had a much quieter day today. Need it as I've gone back to being very fatigued.

Have still done a few xmas bits from the sofa. I'm just about sorted for meals for a few days now, which is a relief. We have family here from tonight and I always feel like the meals need to be a bit more impressive.

If i don't get a chance to come on here tomorrow, Happy Christmas everyone, thanks for your company this year!

InMySpareTime · 23/12/2025 17:25

Very busy day for me too, overseeing a bunch of people making over 700 Christingle oranges to give out at Christmas Eve services.
I was mostly sitting, making the vegan, Gluten Free Christingles, but there’s a lot of incidental standing and walking involved in sorting out mini crises as they crop up.
Tired now, but at least that’s me mostly done for Christmas, by the time we’ve done Christingles, Christmas is minimal.

Swanhilde · 23/12/2025 18:01

Knitting finished and no nighttime shenanigans tonight 🥳😴

Realisation14 · 24/12/2025 05:52

Gosh just getting a chance to read through everyone's posts as I've not been on in a day or two - we're all so busy, I hate that Christmas is always such a mad rush to prepare everything and see everyone. I imagine come Christmas day or boxing day we're all going to suffer greatly for this, myself included.

I hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful, manageable Christmas. This thread has really been a godsend for me these past few months ❤️ much love to you all!

MewithME · 24/12/2025 08:32

Morning.... I'm tired...have I mentioned it before? 🤔🙈

I have already been up to put my bin out and now back in bed with coffee in my favourite mug.

Plan for today - collect turkey, finish and wrap mum's gloves, peel sprouts, make sausage rolls, eat fish and chips, await Father Christmas 🎅🎄🎁

All done with plenty of rests and lots of cups of tea ☕ ☕ ☕

Merry Christmas to you all 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/12/2025 09:08

Morning all!

I was hoping to be back online today but still waiting for Openreach to come. The telegraph pole near our house is lying on the verge with bollards round it, just a jagged stump remains in the ground. Some pedestrian bollards on an island have also been squashed.

As far as we can see a car accelerated from the lights at great speed, bounced into the pole, flipped over and proceeded along our road upside down for several hundred yards. Absolute miracle it was quiet on the road… usually quite busy, on a bus route too. The driver walked away unscathed.

so no internet or landline since Friday. I have been reading a lot but look forward to getting TV back. We were watching Pluribus and had just reached a dramatic moment!

Before I got the internet on my mobile phone set up I had a screen free couple of days. I actually felt quite calm because I am a news junkie normally.

Anyway just popping by to wish you all a very happy peaceful Christmas!

ForLoveNotMoney · 24/12/2025 09:10

I had a terrible nights sleep. Literally awake all night with painful wind and constant toilet trips. I did take a laxative yesterday evening which finally did the trick this morning so hopefully that will help.

Have my infusion this morning so looking forward to getting that in me and I’ve reduced my steroids down to 30mg today. No idea how the side effects of both these things combined will impact the big day tomorrow but my son and I are at my partners and he’s promised a lovely quiet day of nice food and peace.

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all get what you need today x

MewithME · 24/12/2025 09:26

@TeaAndStrumpets I started Pluribus last night but it was too stressful! I didn't sleep well after (but that's probably because I've been rubbish at taking my vitamins including magnesium for a week or so and my sleep is just crappy at the moment). Pluribus did not help though! I'm only through the first episode. Good but tense. Felt like a zombie film and I don't do zombies!

Morning! Woken up to realise that I've brewed a cold overnight 😬

Lots of cooking today and a bit of fussing over presents- adding ribbons etc.

Feeling very reflective and grateful for the progress I've made over the last year. This time last year I was barely able to get off the sofa and this year I'm able to contribute to the cooking.

I just need to not get over excited and do too much.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas, whatever you manage to do xxx

MewithME · 24/12/2025 09:31

I have loads to do today but currently have a stomach ache and feel like there's no energy in my muscles to move and do what I need to.

So my to do list is ...

Change sheets for mine and Ds beds
Collect prescription and get a couple tiny bits from shop (chemist is inside the shop(
Sort laundry
Wrap last present
Lunch
See friend and drop off her present
Home and rest with carols from kings while I make tea... No idea what we're eating today!

Oh and have to clear the table for Xmas lunch tomorrow ..it's buried under the usual pile of nonsense accumulated by DS. It'll be very strange one day to have a functional table. I've kind of just accepted it for his childhood 🙈( drawing stuff, books, 🖥️, Lego)

@MewithME With Pluribus the beauty of it is the main protagonist. If you want someone to stand up against a mysterious mind virus then a sweary pissed- off menopausal woman is a great choice!

edited because my phone replaced sweary with sweaty! How apt.

I've got a load of washing on the line, have dusted and hoovered the bits of the sitting room I can see, and am off to DD2's for a family lunch.

Happy Christmas all..and thank you for this series of threads-that-feel-like-home. 💖

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/12/2025 10:40

Sounds like a lovely day @FuzzyPuffling

Apologies to all I’ve missed. This thread is very comfortable. Thanks @MewithME

Stressybetty · 24/12/2025 11:53

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you all manage to have a restful time.
First day of leave today, have had a cuppa, fed dogs, washing up etc. Need to pick up MIL prescription and some more milk. DH wants us to start moving things in the garage around later.
Could really do with another hours sleep, heading back to bed.

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/12/2025 12:03

Wow @ForLoveNotMoney that’s some top class infusing! Hope it goes well.

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/12/2025 12:10

@Stressybetty we are also clearing and tidying! Looking forward to the tip reopening.

Giant telegraph pole still lying on the roadside, I am so tempted to decorate it with some holly and icing sugar! No sign of repair crew so still no broadband or landline. Maybe later today haha.

Daughter keeps pestering EE on our behalf but the last two promised repair times have come and gone.
