Some of the posters on the MIL/neighbour/colleague/stranger threads could benefit from thinking about this one.

'Judge not lest ye be judged'. Being judgemental on MN is a large faux pas, as many of us know but we are all capable of it, even if we don't care to admit it.

Not so much advice but reassurance.

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God believe in me also. There are many rooms on my Fathers house; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am too.

I take it that He is preparing a place for us whilst we are dying. He then comes for us when we are at the point of death and takes us back with him. Its probably a bit fanciful but nice all the same.

The disciples say they don't know the way because they don't know where he's going.

Jesus says "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"

Not religious at all but I did have that first excerpt read out at my Mums funeral. It was strangely comforting.

One that springs to mind, which I repeat to myself as an encouragement to be more financially generous; you cannot serve both God and money.
