What Bible version has the 'not' in there ?

Here is the KJV 1611 version of Mat 18:6

But who so shall offend one of these little ones which beleeue in me, it were better for him that a milstone were hanged about his necke, and that hee were drowned in the depth of the Sea.

Litteral Standard Version, LSV -

"and whoever may cause to stumble one of those little ones who are believing in Me, it is better for him that a weighty millstone may be hanged on his neck, and he may be sunk in the depth of the sea."

International standard version, ISV-

“If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a large millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned at the bottom of the sea. "

Modern literal version of 2021 MLV2021-

"But whoever offends one of these little ones who believes in me, it is more advantageous for him that a millstone, the ones rotated by a donkey, should be hung at his neck, and that he should be sunk in the deep-sea of the sea."

I have the Greek too, but that won't cut and paste.

What version has the NOT in it ?

Gosh you did a lot of research there! I should have used quotations in my posts but I thought the italics made it clear enough:
I wrote
No he says it were better for him not i want you to throw such a man
in other words
No he says "it were better for him" not "I want you to throw such a man".
the not is mine; as I thought you weren't understanding the difference in meaning

Not research as such, I have a Bible study program on my laptop, so the different bible versions and dictionaries etc are all at hand.

Bit of a plug here, it's called E-sword. Free for PC, and loads of free bibles and resources available too. I highly recommend it :-)

But yup, he is advocating execution for anyone trying to turn any of his followers to not believe in him.

Its a long one, so I'll just type out the opening...

'To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance'

Its so wise and speaks to the rhythm and tides of life in such a beautiful way.

Turn! Turn! Turn! A song popularised by The Byrds but I think written by Pete Seeger. The Strawbs also found Biblical inspiration with 'Lay Down'.

I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Psalms 91:2

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Some of the posters on the MIL/neighbour/colleague/stranger threads could benefit from thinking about this one.

That is a very good point.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

I try to remember what Jesus said about helping others: "Whatever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, you do for me".
I always think it's about caring for everyone, especially the most poor, desperate and persecuted.

The Parables of the workers in the vineyard, and the prodigal son, I found hard to understand at first, but eventually I arrived at the meaning of Grace. They both have a similar plot. The vineyard owner pays workers he employs later in the day the same as those who started earlier. The early starters are angry. But the owner points out that nothing has been taken away from them, and he has the right to be generous if he so chooses.

The prodigal son (prodigal meaning roughly profligate) has asked for his wealthy father's inheritance early, received it, and gone off to be a spendthrift and general failure in life. He comes grovelling home, where his brother has stayed and worked conscientiously for his father. When the father sees his wayward son walking toward him he is overjoyed and orders a celebration banquet and new clothes for him. The brother is highly offended at the rewards given the prodigal. All very understandable, and at first I couldn't get beyond empathising with the angry workers and the offended brother. BUT Grace (related to French gratuit 'free') means giving (and forgiving) unconditionally. Conflicts of interest never get resolved or moved on unless someone steps in with an act of Grace. The grumblers can carry on grumbling, or come to see that generosity and love have a value.

"...give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses; as we forgive those that trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil ..."

Do people still remember the Lords prayer ?
