It was a manifesto pledge but the Tories and Lib Dems are blocking the bill by voring against it, they have done so 3 times already.

We have the Parliament Act 1911.Lords don't get to block manifesto legislation.

Is it then because Labour wants to write the changes into a full Act of Parliament?

All I know is that when the Lloyd George budget was blocked by the Lords, he called a general election, got re-elected on a pledge of enacting the budget and the King (George V) agreed to create 1,000 liberal peers if the Lords blocked it again. That gave us the aforementioned 1911 Parliament Act.

Please tell me you just made that up. She can’t be that stupid, surely?

Wait until she finds out about Jesus. She’s going to be so mad.

Or the Roman welfare system

What happened to paying Caesar’s debts to Caesar? And wasn’t Jesus born in Bethlehem due to tax collection? That’s going to dog her for ever.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/11/2025 11:37

I thought she belonged to one of those prosperity gospel churches but I think I’ve confused her with someone else. I’m attempting to google that I’ve discovered and interview where she says she doesn’t believe in God but isn’t an atheist but agnostic.

Guessing we are just making up the definitions of words to suit ourselves now.

Historically I think the jury is out on that one but that won’t help her in her zeal to appeal to the new right wing ‘Christian’s’

Efacsen · 28/11/2025 11:39

That's a bit of a mad thing to say

I doubt it. That would mean he had a conscience.

Or that he’s 8n a cold sweat about going to prison himself…

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/11/2025 11:44

Going back to the immigration thing I’d love to know what proportion of the native Brits (esp that 16-34 age group) leaving the country are doctors.

That breakdown would be interesting.

We could then compare it to all those threads moaning about greedy junior doctors.

Unless you have family connections that tie you here completely I have no idea why any F2+ stays in the U.K. and it isn’t just pay.
UK trained doctors are highly in demand and you get better pay and conditions elsewhere.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/11/2025 12:01

They don’t have a brilliant grasp on where a lot of their support comes from, do they?

It’s quite an achievement to lose 26k votes in one fell swoop.

They won't lose those votes. It's why they did it.
