Hmm, I have 2 theories:

1. She didn't think his mum fit in her shallow aesthetic, based on the photos I've seen of the guests and the do as a whole.
2. His mum doesn't necessarily approve of the partnership- looking at the timeline described in the article, from when they met to when they apparently got together, I wouldn't be surprised if his mum had sided more with the mother of his child.

Before anyone says, if you don't know who they are, read the article. Yes there are more important things to worry about in the world, I can think about more than one thing at a time.
This is purely my opinion, so hopefully I can't be sued.

As for their "batshit excuse" about trains being cancelled, when a serious incident occurs on the railways, its highly likely to affect several lines and lead to delays and cancellations in other areas
Let's not forget that the reason why they were taking the train journey is because Nepo Holly didnt like the dress that MIL had chosen for the wedding and was making MIL choose one to Bridezillas liking. This, imho, speaks volumes about what an entitled brat Nepo Holly is.

Another family(/load of nepos) trying to build a brand on ‘family values’ but failing to live up to the ethos they’re trying to establish. If she wanted a private affair she shouldn’t have stuck it on a public insta account or posted at all. It’s just all attention grabbing for the wrong reasons…and now, well just look at this pr balls up. Maybe they just want attention as it builds their brand?

There’s clearly a lot going on here. Whoever is talking to the press and/or posting private information online is making the situation worse.

But these things do happen fairly often I would think. My SIL has been going through something similar with her niece. The niece has done very well for herself in her own field. Has married into a v wealthy, old money family. The niece has slowly moved further and further away from her own relatives both physically and emotionally.

At the wedding, only her parents and siblings were full day and evening guests. All her aunts, uncles, cousins and even her grandparents were evening guests only. All his extended family were full guests. His parents were paying.

Fast forward a good few years and my SIL is now relegated to a Christmas card receiver. The niece doesn’t visit her hometown and rarely invites her parents to visit her and the children. She didn’t attend a grandparent’s funeral as she was on holiday. The same grandparent who looked after her every day after school when she was young.

Money and status can be all consuming. And sometimes, families are not all they seem.

She sounds a right nasty person.

I’m sure whoever is talking to the press is either his mum or doing it with her blessing but she’s probably hurt and wanting to let her son know how she feels. Probably hoping he feels sorry and changes his tune

This sort of thing is all too common, unfortunately.

It's like someone said above.

If he wanted people from his side to go to the wedding he could have arranged for their accommodation etc.

But instead it's a good excuse to avoid having them at the wedding if they " can't afford it"

Might have been part of the reason why it was booked where it was. To keep them from coming.

If Holly's side were worried about details of the wedding getting out or pics etc there's lots that could have been put into place to stop that. Rather it seems they tried to stop them from coming by putting barriers - cost of attending in the way.

In the past, before the age of insta & social media, it was much classier & less said soonest mended. Possibly a bit of a spat on the phone etc. Nothing good comes from all this over sharing.

This was my first thought. If a relative of mine decided to go public with family info like this, without checking with me first, I’d go ballistic. It’s blown everything up when it could perhaps have been sorted with time and communication.

But If the Mum gave the sister the go ahead to post, then that does put a very different slant on things!

I’ve met Gordon a couple of times through work. He was very kind, funny and down to earth. A good listener and obviously very astute.

As I’m Scottish, we had a bit of banter about east coast versus west coast. He still absolutely seemed proud of his roots and didn’t appear “up himself” at all.

He’s also a serial adulterer and wouldn’t attend the birth of his children as it would put him off sex with his wife - Yuk

How depressing. Is this going to be the fashion now? Binning one or two parents as couples 'start a new life'? It's unbelievably unpleasant behaviour, Markle, Beckham, Ramsay. Sort yourselves out.

Clearly both sides are talking to the press. It's just one side has a slicker, more direct way of doing that.

On further reflection, he sounds horrible and so does she. Well matched.

Aren’t the Ramsays completely estranged from Tana’s family? I think it was to do with money, I can’t remember the details.

Gordon's father in law is total scum.

I'd never heard of any of these people, apart from Gordon Ramsay before this but none of them are covering themselves in glory. I do feel sorry for his mum though

It gets worse. They’re back in the papers mouthing off again today. It’s like a pr car crash, I feel sorry for them all but at the same time can’t look away.

I saw something last night that Adam had received death threats on his stag weekend. Didn't read it though only saw the headline.

Blimey. What a mess.

I imagine that no one has acted perfectly from any of the sides. Two very different worlds have collided here and I imagine they both strongly think they are in the right due to their differing values. It's very much like a soap opera now and interesting to watch it all play out on social media like this. It will be very hard for them to forgive and forget, and I certainly can't imagine Adam ever having a relationship with the Aunt again even if he does resolve things with his mum.

I know someone who was at University with Peaty. She doesn’t have a good word to say about him.

I think the problem is- they need a good reason to ban his mum from the wedding.

Just because his aunt said something online isn't s good enough reason. The fact that she doesn't fit in and if he is embarrassed about his family. Again that isn't a good reason. Not being able to afford to go isn't a good enough reason for his mum not to go.

So reason such as death threats from his family etc are more likely to be seen as valid reasons by the general public.

Don't forget his side has expensive paid PR experts who are paid to try and deal with this kind of bad publicity.

Personally it sounds like he didn't want his brothers there and it all blew up.

I didn’t invite my mum or my MIL to mine they would have hated it.
