A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

Bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

That briefing backfired spectacularly on Starmer didn’t it.

Ridiculous to see them cry mess what mess. Idiots 😬

CaveMum · 13/11/2025 15:19

They’re now stating that the briefing did not come from inside Downing Street.

Pull the other one lads, it’s got bells on!

Even Alastair Campbell said that looking at where the story came from - Pippa Carrera at The Guardian - she’s not the type of journalist who will take a few quotes from the Downing Street cleaner and spin it as a senior source. She will only have published if she thought the source had weight.

Edited

I've just watched a clip of Starmer interviewed today. He's now saying that No10 were not responsible for the briefing.
Yet he has apologised for it, and there is no proper investigation into who or where it came from. 🤔
Every journo I have heard or read has said that it came from No.10.
Pull the other one Starmer.

So who was it? I assume they get immunity for the brief?

Otherwise the journo would know who right? Not sure how it works.

They’re clearly humiliated but I still want to know the names

Liar indeed.

It needs to be questioned in HoC

These things are always done on condition of anonymity, but yes Pippa will have the receipts. She might be able to use them as leverage - if she suddenly gets an exclusive interview with Starmer/Reeves we’ll know why 😜

TheNuthatch · 13/11/2025 15:25

Kemi needs to keep probing this.

Bit late for everyone who has already withdrawn the money though.

He’s soooo flat footed, and transparent.

Anyone can see him coming from a mile away.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 13/11/2025 15:52

What’s being said by Downing St about the briefing is nuts.

They’re saying that No 10 wasn’t anything to do with it. But all the papers and media - including BBC - are citing senior staffers, ministers, senior ministers and MPs as sources.

Is Starmer really trying to have us believe that these people all spontaneously got together to rubbish Streeting? What absolute nonsense.

EasternStandard · 13/11/2025 15:56

It was Starmer right? He can’t fire anyone so he has to make his almighty cock up go away.

Yep. They have decided to lie it out.
Starmer is basically accusing the entire British press of lying, knowing that they cannot reveal their sources.
I hope he gets to feel their collected wrath.

Alienating almost the entire UK press doesn't seem like the best thought out move of the century from a PM really.

This couldn't happen without at least some authorisation from the principal.
Unless Starmer is no longer the principal? Perhaps McSweeney is running the show.

It’s a weird strategy, certainly. But it’s also breathtakingly dishonest.

I guess that Starmer’s absolutely terrified that if McSweeney goes, he goes. So there’s an organised lying campaign to try to save the pair of them.

I can’t decide whether he’s more akin to a bollard, or a plank.

EasternStandard · 13/11/2025 16:06

It’s so dishonest I think it needs a misleading the house moment

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2025 16:06

Sorry , what has happened with this briefing ?

Damnthetorpedoes · 13/11/2025 16:09

Morgan McSweeney signed off briefings about a Labour leadership challenge that backfired and caused a row over a “toxic” culture in No 10.

The Telegraph understands Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of staff, as well as senior Downing Street communication figures, agreed to brief journalists that the Prime Minister would fight any challenge to his position and that ousting him could undermine the economy.

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2025 16:14

Ahh! I see now. Thanks

Rivalled · 13/11/2025 16:16

Could their press get any worse? I feel this might be a gaffe too far now.
