Do you still watch Have I Got News For You?

I haven't watched it for about 20 years but didn't have any negative feelings about the show, just got a bit bored of it. I didn't actually realise it was still a thing today.

I saw some clips today of yesterday's episode online and found it surprisingly unfunny. But I don't know if that's just me - there must be an audience for the show as it keeps getting made. Similarly, I don't find Mrs Brown's Boys funny but I accept there are many people who do.

Do you still watch / enjoy Have I Got News For You?

Yes. It’s very funny. It’s always relevant as it’s based on the latest news, but there’s usually a good mix of panel members - comedians and or MPs etc. The hosts are usually excellent too.

I watch it with the kids these days. I always liked HIGNFY but sat stony faced through Mock the Week, which was always dire: really unfunny and pleased with itself.

Shutuptrevor · 08/11/2025 19:37

Yes. It lost its way a few years ago for me but have really enjoyed the last few seasons.

Tiebiter · 08/11/2025 19:40

Oh, interesting! I used to love it but something happened to it several years ago - it was more about self-congratulatory in-jokes between the participants than acerbic comments on the news. If it's found its way again, I'll give it another go.

thecatdidit · 08/11/2025 19:42

I accidentally caught some of it last night. I didn't find it funny, use of the c*nt word several times didn't appeal to me. I think it's had its day.

Avacadoandtoast · 08/11/2025 19:44

I like HIGNFY - but HATE Mrs browns boys, totally different humour

Wishing14 · 08/11/2025 19:45

Never, it’s no longer funny and they’re too scared to talk about difficult issues, which comedy always should.

Rexinasaurus · 08/11/2025 19:51

No. Past its sell by date these days. Had its prime.

dizzydizzydizzy · 08/11/2025 19:52

DC1 and I think it's great.

orbital12 · 08/11/2025 19:54

I still watch it and am gutted that they've scrapped the "a bit more news" version.

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 08/11/2025 19:55

I still watch it - I remember as a new immigrant to the UK absolutely marveling that this was a format that not only existed but was celebrated here, and how current it was. I find Merton less funny and more predictable these days but I still enjoy it and miss it when it's off air.

Hdpr · 08/11/2025 19:55

We love it

Same

Mikart · 08/11/2025 19:56

Yes! Love it

LupaMoonhowl · 08/11/2025 19:57

Used to be funny but now is just too Metropolitan BBC woke.

thistimelastweek · 08/11/2025 19:58

I would like it to air all year round.

walkingmad · 08/11/2025 20:05

Yes, find it funny. Didn't watch it 20 yrs ago.

When did you first watch it?

Notmyreality · 08/11/2025 20:09

It’s nowhere near as funny as it used to be. Paul Merton in particular barely talks some episodes and Ian increasingly uses it as a preaching box. Was much better in the Angus days.

ExitPursuedByABare · 08/11/2025 20:09

Used to love it.

Find it insufferably smug now. Gave up after 10 minutes last night.

Rexinasaurus · 08/11/2025 20:07

When did you first watch it?

2007ish. Actually it was likely a back-catalogue episode on xmas day, on Dave, because all my housemates had buggered off so it was just me and the TV that day.

ShesTheAlbatross · 08/11/2025 20:11

Yes I still watch it.

Depends who is on it as to how funny it is. Yesterday’s episode - why oh why do politicians think it’s a good idea to go on? They are so rarely funny, and just embarrass themselves.
