Do you still watch Have I Got News For You?

I haven't watched it for about 20 years but didn't have any negative feelings about the show, just got a bit bored of it. I didn't actually realise it was still a thing today.

I saw some clips today of yesterday's episode online and found it surprisingly unfunny. But I don't know if that's just me - there must be an audience for the show as it keeps getting made. Similarly, I don't find Mrs Brown's Boys funny but I accept there are many people who do.

Do you still watch / enjoy Have I Got News For You?

Yes, still enjoy it, but they never seem to mention Israel/Gaza….

Weirdly after last night’s episode I dreamed I was getting it on with Ian Hislop Wtf! 😂

Was it you who wrote the letter about his sartorial elegance? 😉

LeafyMcLeafFace · 09/11/2025 00:01

I want to like it but find Paul Merton and Ian Hislop desperately unfunny and it puts me off even if I think the host and other guests are really funny

Notmyreality · 08/11/2025 20:09

It’s nowhere near as funny as it used to be. Paul Merton in particular barely talks some episodes and Ian increasingly uses it as a preaching box. Was much better in the Angus days.

Aaah, Angus Deaton... <swoon>.

I do and find it very amusing, but the ongoing ‘token woman’ situation always pisses me off.

Whatwouldnanado · 09/11/2025 00:44

Yes. And read Private Eye.

aniloD · 09/11/2025 00:46

Love HIGNFY. Can't stand Mrs Brown's Boys

SnowFrogJelly · 09/11/2025 00:47

Yes I love it.. apart from the fact that Paul wins every week

Headstarttohappiness · 09/11/2025 00:51

Yep now with both DSs and DH.

PeonyPatch · 09/11/2025 01:00

We still watch it and we find it funny and enjoy it. I love that it’s current.

Clonakilla · 09/11/2025 01:08

Yes, I watch and enjoy, I wouldn’t describe it as really funny, more amusing, and it depends on the guests and host.

Made me laugh to see the twit above refer to this very staid panel show featuring old white men as ‘woke’. The modern world must be extremely confronting!

Wishing14 · 09/11/2025 07:07

@CurlewKatethe Supreme Court decision was the biggest story of that week and not covered, I thought that was very poor.

Superstar22 · 09/11/2025 07:11

Watch it all the time. Would never watch Mars Brown boys; completely baffled how you’d pair the two. It’s crass, racist, absolutely shite.

I always look forward to the Victoria Coren-Mitchell episodes. She "gets it", is clearly a long time fan of the show and is able to cut through the blokiness that sometimes spoils it.

I agree. Very classy lady.

MaryBeardsShoes · 09/11/2025 07:43

I wish they’d bring back Angus as the regular host. When you think of all the shite our trusted politicians pull these days, it seems so tame in comparison.

LaurieFairyCake · 08/11/2025 23:32

Always been funny, always will be funny. Still brilliant.

Completely agree, remains one of the best things on the BBC.

I agree. Very classy lady.

Was her dad the original, or an early, and longtime presenter of The News Quiz on radio? Before Sandi Toksvig?

ExitPursuedByABare · 08/11/2025 20:09

Used to love it.

Find it insufferably smug now. Gave up after 10 minutes last night.

That's a shame. It improved a lot later on. I was in stitches.

I hadn't watched it for years and have picked it up again recently and still find it funny. I also enjoy QI and loved Mock the Week.

That's the kind of humour that appeals to me.

HRTQueen · 09/11/2025 07:52

Yes I still watch it sometimes

Paul Merton is quieter these days and it’s certainly less edgy that it used to be. It still entertaining

Lunaballoon · 09/11/2025 07:58

I still like it, particularly when there’s a good mix of presenter and guests. But I don’t like the way self serving politicians use it to raise their profiles and appeal to the public like Boris Johnson, Andrea Jenkyn etc.

Its the BBC. They only cover pro-trans trans issues. Confirmed this week by a whistleblower.

It's a fix, you won't find any logic to it.

famalam09 · 09/11/2025 09:27

Its 100% scripted. Total load of crap
