What do women who want a family do now we all think men are useless?

It's OK for me to think 'fuck 'em'. I'm old. Been there. Done that. Had the family and the divorce.

BUT if you're heterosexual AND want a family but realise that most men (#notallmen) are not viable options, what DO you do/plan to do?

Genuinely interested.

I don’t think raising a male child is fair if your attitude is that adult males are useless. Along with donor are women choosing female embryos?

I was just going to say the same.

To some extent ageee, but why does this mean that OP necessarily overestimates male bad behaviour? Men are still the bad ones primarily in these cases cited by pp, women should not put up with it but they are not doing the actively bad things.

I don't think men are all or mostly bad, but pp's stories show men as worse, not women..

Find a man. Suppress your judgment, revulsion and conviction of superiority toward them for long enough to have a couple of babies. Spend the next twenty years complaining about how useless they are. Then get divorced.

Or so it would seem.

It's the old (but common) logic failure whereby people sometimes confuse "Most people who do X are Y" and "Most Y do X" - and syllogistically believe that the two are one and the same.

Well generally any, but in particular men from Pakistan and the Middle East are said to make good husbands. I would also add West Africa too, the men there are very masculine and traditional, but not in a western chauvinistic way.

West African men are generally not chauvinistic?

Why does West Africa have such bad rape and DV rates then?

I have 3 friends who were approaching their late 30’s and hadn’t found a man they were prepared to settle for so went the sperm donor route and did it on their own.

Such a cruel thing to do to the children. This needs to be banned.

Swiftasthewind · 07/11/2025 14:33

Yes they may appear more traditional to you but it’s not patriarchal in the sense that a British man would expect, it’s more a cultural deference that can be entirely spiritually fulfilling for the man and woman in question. Think of it like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle coming together to fit as one. We could certainly learn a thing or two from observing them in action.

Deference? You mean mutual deference, or women towards men?

Do you think that DV, rape, forced marriage, honour killings, forced veiling are in a minority across the world then?

If Middle Eastern and Muslim men are generally great, how do you explain attitudes in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Pakistan and much stricter countries?

I think donation is fine but it has to be a known donor who you coparent with and vet properly.

I’m 60-ish, married with grown-up married kids so this is based on no expertise at all but..

  1. Work hard and grow a career that pays well but has the potential to offer some flexibility when you need it
  2. Freeze your eggs pre-30
  3. Buy a two-bedroomed place with a garden near your mum
  4. Cultivate a strong friendship with a wonderful gay man who may be open to donating sperm and being involved when the time comes.
  5. Then, when you’re ready - around mid-30s? - crack on and have your baby.

So many women end up single mothers who have to stay involved with waste-of-space fathers of their kids - I can only think that my proposition would be a lot better than that.

There was a television show which had one episode where a sexually adventurous woman tried lesbianism and was mostly fine with it all, except for going down on another woman. She just couldn't do it.
And I think reciprocal oral sex is probably de rigeur in lesbian relationships.

Hm...as a bi woman who leans towards women, it's not necessarily. I'm on f/f relationship forums where people post about not wanting to do oral & others say they have same deal breaker and are ok with that. Remember, among straight couples oral was fairly rare until the 60s in UK and lots of older women viewed it as gross. Also there are a very small minority of very masculine lesbians who call themselves stone and only want to give rather than receive sexually, or only receive in limited ways. So a partner who hates giving oral but likes everything else would suit them.

Obviously though the woman in the program was probably more into women from the poverty of sexual experimentation rather than holistic romantic attraction : presumably she didn't have issues giving oral to men. There's no issue with that as long as people are honest they're just experimenting to spice things up and not anything more serious.

Do what men have done for centuries?

FatalCattraction · 21/11/2025 03:25

I think the main issue is that overall, so many men have not been able to evolve and adapt to a changing society. Women have.

Sorry to come back to this so late. But I 100% agree with this. Women have definitely evolved faster. Men are about 50 years behind. The best men are the ones who've kept up with social change better.
