Well my antics over the past two weeks have caught up with me and I'm broken 😟

Slept for over 12 hours last night but woke up exhausted and with a banging sinus headache. Determined to accompany DH to get the tree and then he dropped me to my acupuncture appointment, as I didn't feel safe driving.

I do really enjoy acupuncture and find it relaxing. She roundly told me off for doing too much and then stuck needles in my feet, hands, ears and forehead. She described it as dyno-rodding my sinuses 🤣 She also used needles and moxi on my lower back, which is lovely and warming.

So now I'm back home in bed with a cuppa and my head is already starting to clear. I plan to stay here for the rest of the day 😴

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/12/2025 13:39

Glad you got some relief @Swanhilde ..you'll have to a good girl for the next few weeks - It's that time of year! Hopefully you've done enough preparation for Christmas to go smoothly. I like to be ready super early to save panic!

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/12/2025 13:41

@ForLoveNotMoney how are you doing?

I'm not very good at being good @TeaAndStrumpets 🤣

Thankfully I have no plans for this weekend (other than children descending and they can look after themselves) so I can rest as much as possible. My parents are coming over for a cuppa tomorrow afternoon, but they're used to me dozing 😴

And Christmas is pretty much sorted or ordered so no stress there 🤞

Take it easy everyone, I'm going to drink my latest mug of tea and then have a nap. DH has put the tree up and we will slowly decorate it over the next few days 🎄

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/12/2025 14:18

@Swanhilde the story of my life...

I am reading the What to buy at Waitrose thread for ideas. DH is a reluctant unskilled cook, so we have very plain food normally. We are getting visitors some time after Christmas so I thought I'd stock up on easy but luxury stuff.

I'm having some time in bed before tea. We'll have jacket spuds to be easy today. Busy day tomorrow and I'm not up to socialising so I am getting rest where I can as usual.

I can feel another EastEnders Xmas episode coming on 😆

Infusion is in!

What are you up to today if you have chronic illness? Thread 3
BerfyTigot · 11/12/2025 18:09

@ForLoveNotMoney hope it goes smoothly

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/12/2025 18:39

@ForLoveNotMoney wishing you all the best!

Swanhilde · 12/12/2025 09:28

Not sure which thread to post on, so I'll stay here for now ...

Woke up without a headache this morning, although my sinuses still feel 'full' they don't hurt 🥳

Not going to push it so not going to the allotment sadly, but will write some cards and start decorating the tree 🎄

Have a peaceful Friday everyone 💕

Well I've got my bag packed, thread wise! I hate leaving a thread unfilled but will move over later today.

Yes all the best @ForLoveNotMoney hope they're giving you the good stuff!

FurForksSake · 12/12/2025 10:26

@ForLoveNotMoney thinking of you, hope you got some sleep.

i am not leaving the house today. I’m delighted. It’s been such a busy week for me, physio, hydrotherapy and three performances for the boys. I’m doing nothing until ds1 gets home and I’ll help him make his Yule log for scouts.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 12:06

DH is wrapping Christmas presents and I've had to leave the room. He is so precise it's agonising to watch. The careful cutting of the paper so it's just big enough, then the millimetre perfect alignment. It's taken him over ten minutes to wrap a pair of slippers. We'll be lucky to have everything wrapped by Christmas at this rate.

Swanhilde · 12/12/2025 12:35

🤣 @TeaAndStrumpets

DH is also wrapping here. He's downstairs and I'm upstairs writing cards. I will survey the devastation later - I doubt his technique would pass your DH's standards but I've had to let things go 😬

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 12:51

@Swanhilde it's not carried over to noticing dust or changing dirty tea towels though! He can't believe how slapdash (but quick!) my wrapping technique usually is, so now is his chance to shine.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/12/2025 13:09

I wrapped some presents and Girlcat unwrapped them! Back to the start.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 14:43

I keep amending my shopping order...torn between not buying too early and risking things being sold out. So I've gone big on cheese and pickles, they'll keep. My big order is 22nd so still a good chance we get everything.

A friend of ours had the perfect solution to the shopping hordes - he would leave everything until about 4pm on Christmas Eve and then have a leisurely stroll round the Co Op in his village, which was empty by then, but still well stocked.

Orangesandlemons77 · 12/12/2025 15:05

Went to the course which was ok, on communication today. Got back and the parrot is squawking loudly and it's hurt my ears

Looked this up as it reminded me of something and it says about hyperacusis. Common in ME / CFS apparently. Does anyone else have this?

It says it's common with tinnitus which I also have. That ear nerve was also where I had shingles so the facial nerves are painful anyway. It doesn't seem to be improving, maybe I will need to get earplugs to deal with the parrot!

It also pecked me while I was trying to prepare lunch earlier. I guess it is after more attention.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 15:08

I bought both DD2 and her DH some very posh shower gel, hand made in Scandinavia from twigs and daydreams. One smelling of the fjords, one of wildflowers. DH has now wrapped each one very carefully but had no idea they were different. He is not inclined to unwrap one of them to check which is which, so I've had to write to DD/or SIL on the label.

You can't get the help.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 15:17

@Orangesandlemons77 no not as such but I do jump easily!

Sorry about the shingles, that sounds horribly painful. I know it can be very dangerous on the face. As you say, so many nerves round there. I had it once but only on the lower abdomen.

I get all sorts of pain which wanders around my jaw and sinuses. I think it's stress. My tinnitus is pretty low grade compared wiih some but I notice if I jolt awake at night my tinnitus is loud.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 15:32

@Orangesandlemons77 reading on the other thread you are contemplating selling your flat. We have found selling incredibly frustrating and tiring BUT we should have done it years ago. Although we are old we have deliberately gone for a house with stairs for a slight amount of exercise. Don't want Bungalow Legs!

You must have a lovely view from a top flat though, so I would make having a nice view my top priority. We are swapping constant buses and lorries on a busy road for a field of cows!

TodayIsatrickyone · 12/12/2025 15:44

@TeaAndStrumpets your DH’s wrapping skills do sound impressive though the shower gel saga made me smile. My DH is pretty good at wrapping too but he also seems to be on a mission to use the precise amount of paper needed and no more. I’ve no idea why, we have plenty of wrapping paper! Drives me ever so slightly insane!

Just had a call from the hospital re my daughters recent test results and it was good news! She was fast tracked a few weeks ago for further investigation following some blood test results and I had a few sleepless nights even though logically I thought the surgery were just being thorough, hard not to worry when you hear the word cancer pathway… So phew we can all Breathe again.

Oh good grief that must have been so stressful. Brilliant that she's got the all clear. That must have been an excruciating wait.

I remember that when DD1 had a huge ovarian cyst aged 14, I was worried she'd lose an ovary. It wasn't until they told us the biopsy was 'clear of cancer' that I realised I had been worrying over the wrong thing! It had never crossed my mind.

It sounds like you were horribly aware of all the possibilities. Hope your stress levels have lowered! Xx
