Not sure which thread to post on, so I'll stay here for now ...

Woke up without a headache this morning, although my sinuses still feel 'full' they don't hurt 🥳

Not going to push it so not going to the allotment sadly, but will write some cards and start decorating the tree 🎄

Have a peaceful Friday everyone 💕

Sorry I I jumped the gun. Was just being prepared 🙈

I managed to get the compost onto the garden this morning. Pleasex to gave that job done...pleased I had the energy to do it. Now pacing myself with a restful day tomorrow.

Another good girl! Hope Santa is taking note.

If we really want to fill up the thread we can claim to be shocked and traumatised by finding a single chin hair like a daft woman did on Style and Beauty this week. She got loads and loads of replies, it went on at length. I did wonder if she was a troll, or a cunning plant by Mumsnet to drive site traffic. I think we're just a bit sedate to get the big numbers!

FurForksSake · 12/12/2025 17:07

I’ve just been trying to pick out a chin hair… it’s a great past time.

ds1 and dh are making a Yule log. But it’s not going to rise as they didn’t get the egg whites stiff.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 17:30

@FurForksSake so, so satisfying when you get a really deep rooted one!

I did mention on the thread her DH would one day have hairy ears. I give DH's a little snip when I'm cutting his hair, just in passing, but no way am I doing a proper job! He even has eyebrows like a Highland terrier, poor chap.

Settling in for a calm evening. Finally caught up with All Creatures Great and Small. It's quite good on period detail, but the number of private cars on the roads is pretty unlikely, given that petrol was strictly rationed.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 17:36

Maybe I mean a Skye Terrier. Hairy though.

FuzzyPuffling · 12/12/2025 17:47

I hate how the little buggers are invisible until you come back from some important occasion, and there they are shouting "LOOK AT MEEEEEEE"..

MewithME · 12/12/2025 17:54

Need the laugh emoji back. Chin hairs, so gross yet so satisfying. I get a lovely big black one sometimes. God I'm gorgeous 😂🙈

Oh good grief that must have been so stressful. Brilliant that she's got the all clear. That must have been an excruciating wait.

I remember that when DD1 had a huge ovarian cyst aged 14, I was worried she'd lose an ovary. It wasn't until they told us the biopsy was 'clear of cancer' that I realised I had been worrying over the wrong thing! It had never crossed my mind.

It sounds like you were horribly aware of all the possibilities. Hope your stress levels have lowered! Xx

Thanks Tea, the nurse who referred her had been upfront about the referral so yes stress levels were high for a few days but she was seen quickly and they were pretty reassuring that they were just trying to work out what was going on. Definitely a relief to that call today tbough!

But how do they grow so fast? The fine ones spring out like a tiny ringlet, the ones like tree stumps sort of sit there taunting you - you feel them long before you can grab them, so it is a waiting game.

TodayIsatrickyone · 12/12/2025 18:14

LOL at chin hairs 😂 I only ever spot them on the rare occasion I put make up on and then it’s usually when I’ve just finished and put my glasses back on to check and then see a huge hair sticking out of my chin 😂

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 18:20

While we're doodling in the final pages of this thread, can I recommend Man versus Baby? Netflix. We watched the first episode last night and enjoyed it. I googled to see if the baby was played by twins, and discovered there were actual twins plus a spare set of body doubles, and CGI was used to put faces on different babies. Creepy! I'll have to pretend it's a cartoon.

There really should be some tiny face jewellery for these occasions, so one can style it out.

Bet I'm more gorgeous in the chin department, my hairs have been nurtured for many more years than yours!

FuzzyPuffling · 12/12/2025 19:21

Bring back those Regency patches. They cover up a sneaky hair and if the glue was strong enough, they might remove the hair when you peel the patch off.

Off to patent that!

FurForksSake · 12/12/2025 19:30

Tomorrow we are off to Blenheim palace to do the house and gardens. I’ve pre-booked a wheelchair. I bought some electric hand warmers, they are amazing! I’ve also got some self heating insoles and a portable heat pad. I’m very keen to stay warm, I’m pretty skinny so I get cold easily.

I was in a lot of pain today, barely knew what to do with myself. So hoping I’ll mange tomorrow.

MewithME · 12/12/2025 19:34

Hope it goes well @FurForksSake and you have a lovely time. Have you seen those heated gilets? Can get them on Amazon. Haven't tried them but might work well?

@TeaAndStrumpets saying about face jewellery made me think of the nice chap on the local co-op who has a full beard and wears baubels in it this time of year. It's gross but sweet of him to be festive for customers 😁🎄

I have a heated filet! I forget it exists, thanks for the reminder!

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 19:52

I would like heated everything, like a space suit, although I don't fancy the inbuilt plumbing the astronauts need.

TeaAndStrumpets · 12/12/2025 19:53

@MewithME nearly there!

FuzzyPuffling · 12/12/2025 20:27

Heated throw and a warm cat for me!

FuzzyPuffling · 12/12/2025 20:28

Are we nearly there yet?

FurForksSake · 12/12/2025 20:29

Not quite!
