I am very grateful for my heated throw. That is all.

MewithME · 06/12/2025 20:52

Snap @FuzzyPuffling . In bed with my heated pad and a podcast

Morning all!

Crack of dawn now.. Jolted awake at 3.30 with adrenaline rush. All calm now but wide awake since then. I hardly did anything yesterday, but on Friday did a few things extra so it is presumably delayed reaction.
Really restful day ahead!

MewithME · 07/12/2025 09:56

I actually woke at 9am for the first time in months. I always wake up a few times but had vivid dreams. Bit sad really because they were retrospective so that's obviously the Xmas nostalgia setting me off. I dreamt I went for an interview where I used to work age 27. I was given the job instantly and everyone I used to work with was still there. But then it was all jumbled up with thinking about moving away and how I'm feeling about not seeing enough of my mum as it is.

Sorry...other people's dreams are so boring 🙈 I have no one to bore in real life!

I still feel exhausted. I think I need to stay home and be careful today. I had a mild panic about workload in January last night. Trying not to think about it. Work stress sucks.

I can't really go sick as it will store up worse problems. There's no cover and it'll be waiting for me and more when I go back so doesn't solve anything.

@MewithME a 9am wake-up is good! I never know what to make of dreams but I do dream a lot about things from long ago. Dead relatives are just there in a matter of fact way so that is rather nice. I do know I talk a lot it my dreams ( no surprise) but apparently not out loud!

I have been quite traumatised as you may recall by a shortage of organic lemons. Today they are back! DS was unpacking them from their stupid cardboard sleeve and came to ask me what "this white stuff" is. One totally rotten and mouldy, invisible until open.

I can't be bothered to make a complaint because once I complained about some rotten flowers and by the time I'd raided the bin and found the packaging to photograph and photographed all the flowers I was losing the will to live. So I've just warned others with a review on the Waitrose website. Now I'm worn out!

Orangesandlemons77 · 07/12/2025 11:52

Recovering from trip out with MIL yesterday. It was very busy out in the cafe and shop she likes to go to, couples with a freezing cold wind every time someone opened the door.

Cafe was really noisy too with these men braying with laughter, it was a relief to get out really.

Now back home and things are calmer thankfully. It is raining out and DH has taken some things to the tip.

MewithME · 07/12/2025 11:59

@TeaAndStrumpets first world problems as they like to say on here 😁

I have managed to wrap my bestie's Xmas present ready to post. I need to get a packing box as I'm sending the rest to my Mum.

I think that's what is getting to me too. I have no plans to go up because I am just exhausted. It is a horrible feeling that unless I drive a 500 mile round trip, I will never see her. No idea if and when I'll see my brother. Our relationship is dwindling rapidly and it hurts. He doesn't acknowledge or understand my M.E.

Anyway, I am at least happy my living room is clean and though the tree isn't up, the tinsel and bits are out and it looks cosy. I've just put the telly on. Rest rest rest ....

@Orangesandlemons77 that sounds awful! We took some friends to a posh new cafe the other year and it was so echoey and clattery, with music playing, we couldn't even have a conversation. People were speaking loudly to be heard over the background noise I think. But some people are just loud.

We always time our tip runs for when we go to see DD1 20 miles away. Her local tip is excellent, and never busy!

I'll consider it! Please don't tempt me.

Well done on the parcels and tidying.

DH has just spent 30 minutes puzzling over why the PC has gone nuts and has just realised his desk is such a mess that a pile of papers has fallen onto the keyboard and pressed on something. So tidying is good!

Could you easily travel to see family by train?

TodayIsatrickyone · 07/12/2025 13:44

My user name is apt today as it’s another tricky one. Feeling pretty awful and just been trying to rest but brain won’t be quiet and legs won’t stop twitching. My little dog kept giving me dirty looks every time the muscles twitched when she was lying on me earlier!
I got out yesterday to a cafe with a friend and DH which was lovely but yes everywhere and everyone seems noisy to me too! So lovely to get out for a bit but payback sucks as always but I need to do these things occasionally just to keep my sanity.
Sorry to all feeling a bit crappy today and hope you can all rest if needs be.

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/12/2025 14:59

@TodayIsatrickyone well done on getting out for a little while. It's nice to do normal things. My whole body twitches when I'm crashing, mostly in bed but if I start to relax in a chair there'll be the odd jump, very odd feeling.

I think the Christmas shopping is done now, plus 12th birthday presents for DGS3 this week. He is at the stage where he's still a sweet little boy but you can see the growth spurt coming. I remember years ago walking towards DD's kitchen and hearing a man's voice...it was DGS1 whose voice had suddenly dropped to his boots!

TodayIsatrickyone · 07/12/2025 15:33

@TeaAndStrumpets Yes the twitching is definitely a sign of overdoing things but I’m resting upstairs as we have a friends son kindly sorting out some broken lights downstairs just now and it’s better to keep the dog with me. Visitors still stress her out and she gets very barky. She’s quiet up here at least and very much appreciating my heated blanket!

Yes 12 is quite the transition isn’t it! I remember picking my son up from a scout camp he’d been to for just a couple of days and his voice obviously broke and he just came back with this deep voice! It was very odd.
My DD is 18 the week before Xmas so that feels strange as she reminded me that I’ll officially have 2 adult children at Xmas for the first time!

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/12/2025 15:40

@TodayIsatrickyone it certainly starts a new chapter in life! I found the teenage years quite stressful but it's lovely to have adult children.

Swanhilde · 07/12/2025 20:04

Long day started with a 2km stroll along the shore of Ullswater. A lake I've never visited before. Followed by a visit to Tebay Services - again a first. Had a lovely coffee and cheese scone, and we may have bought delicious porkpie, scotch eggs and sausage rolls home with us 😋

Home now, showered and ready for bed. Just watching the Strictly results and then I'll be away 😴

InMySpareTime · 07/12/2025 20:15

@Swanhildewe always stop at Tebay on the way North, it’s like the Waitrose/Booths of service stations, especially now it has a load of fast chargers.
It ruins you for other service stations though. A Starbucks and a bank of toilets is fine if you don’t have a Farm Shop and local produce cafe with fresh cakes to compare to.

FurForksSake · 07/12/2025 20:34

Sounds like you’ve had a lovely time @Swanhilde

TeaAndStrumpets · 08/12/2025 09:54

Morning!

I was so desperate to wash my hair, I can manage the rest on the ground floor but for my long hair I need the power shower which is upstairs. I took the stairs in stages and sat down to let my HR come down. 140 + but comes down to 90 if I sit for 5 minutes.

I am clean! May get DH to lop a load of hair off but I like to tie it back, and it would still need washing.

So that's my big day, hope others are having a good one!

FuzzyPuffling · 08/12/2025 10:50

Morning all.
I've showered and washed my hair ( why is that so tiring?) and am about to make a (simple) pasta bake for tea.
Pacing myself as it's choir practice for the carol service this evening.

Healing vibes to all. We can do this. If slowly and on our own terms!

TodayIsatrickyone · 08/12/2025 13:35

Ahh well done on getting clean @TeaAndStrumpets & @FuzzyPuffling Snap! That was also my aim for today. I opted for a bath as less standing while feeling quite fragile still today. Couldn’t sleep last night and tried codeine at 3am for the first time since GP prescribed it for me to try recently. Well I did sleep but then woke at 8 with a headache and feeling nauseous. I was actually sick which is unusual so thinking it must be a reaction to the codeine. I’m not the best at tolerating meds.

So sofa day here and hoping another quiet day will help.

Orangesandlemons77 · 08/12/2025 13:58

Quiet day here too. Not doing great and feeling quite overwhelmed. Think it might be Christmas looming ahead and stuff needing doing. It feels a bit like a mountain at times doesn't it.

Maybe I will plan a bath for later, that seems to help a bit sometimes.

TodayIsatrickyone · 08/12/2025 15:00

It really does feel like a mountain sometimes @Orangesandlemons77 I think this time of year can feel that way without illness thrown but when you’re having to manage everything with limited energy, it’s tough. I often remind myself I’m doing my best anf that’s all I can do! Can you delegate any Xmas tasks at all?

TeaAndStrumpets · 08/12/2025 15:01

@FuzzyPuffling @TodayIsatrickyone @Orangesandlemons77 we are all so clean today! That's a good start to the week.

We had a friend call this morning and then I had a little nap.

Swanhilde · 08/12/2025 17:09

Home from work and completely shattered - knew I would be and it was totally worth it 😁

Cuppa in bed now and will forage in the fridge for some tea later. Probably a Tebay scotch egg 😋

Have been taking regular painkillers for my legs and wore a heat patch to work on my back. Moving was v slow 🐢

Early night tonight - take care all 💕

Swanhilde · 08/12/2025 17:13

For those struggling with showering, OT provided me with a bath board. And it's been a game changer for me - allows me to sit not stand and wash my hair without lifting my arms above my head.

Showers are still a lot, but now at least I don't need a nap after them.

Just an idea
