Hey @FuzzyPuffling 👋 glad you’re okay ( as can be in the circumstances) and sitting quietly here sounds like a great plan.

Orangesandlemons77 · 25/11/2025 20:35

Hope all goes OK @Realisation14 bless him (and you)

Hope the tests go OK and you get some rest tonight TodayIsatrickyone

Got out for a walk here today, it was sunny but cold now resting and watching this programme about car crashes (not my choice!)

Made an easy Surry for tea from leftover veggies and a tin of lentils. Have started the online shop and will finish tomorrow. MIL back tomorrow. Have some homework for that course for Friday too, might start that tomorrow.

FuzzyPuffling · 25/11/2025 20:48

I'm in awe of you all. Chronic crapness and you all achieve so much.

FuzzyPuffling · 25/11/2025 20:00

Hello lovely people.
DH is home and we're ok, just a bit quiet. I'm not up to the rough and tumble of the rest of MN, so may I sit in this space and recuperate?

Aw don't go Out There @FuzzyPuffling it's all pitchforks and unarmed combat. It's nice to sit here quietly, very restful. Glad you're spending some time with us.

FuzzyPuffling · 25/11/2025 21:23

I laughed at the "pitchforks and unarmed combat". Perfect description!

MewithME · 25/11/2025 19:56

You're amazing @Realisation14 thank goodness for people like you. Hope little one sleeps and you do too. X

Aw thank you, you're also amazing!

FurForksSake · 26/11/2025 09:41

Morning. I hope everyone had a better night than me. It was crap. I need to get up but I’m sore and tired and meh.

TodayIsatrickyone · 26/11/2025 09:58

Morning, also a crap night here too which is frustrating as have to summon the energy for the doctors later today.
Currently resting in bed with dippy dog sleeping on me so it seems rude to move. I think slowly slowly is todays motto.

Orangesandlemons77 · 26/11/2025 10:31

Cold out there today. MIL is back and said I would meet for a coffee later so won't get much else done today. DH cleaning crossly.

TeaAndStrumpets · 26/11/2025 11:18

I was still awake at 3am but crashed out for a few hours.

Had a lovely long phone chat with DD1. Her almost 12 year old's bedroom has just got a mouse infestation so she is having to fight her way through mounds of lego and warhammer to give it a deep clean. They live rurally so it's no surprise but she is depressed to find them inside the house. Their lovely cat died this year and they were so traumatised they haven't replaced him but maybe they should rethink. He was a fearsome mouser.

Ha! I recognise the 'cleaning crossly' ! Also cooking crossly...I was reading the thread about disappointing cleaners so it reassured me that DH is not doing a bad job bless him!

VikingNorthUtsire · 26/11/2025 12:32

WFH today so giving the FB marketplace soup maker a second chance. The soup it made last week was awful - I'm not sure what magic alchemy I thought it could bring to a watery pile of carrot and swede 😂

This time I've added some frozen sofrito mix, and fried it up a bit.

I can make tasty soup in a pan, I just really desperately wanted this to be an answer to my need for zero effort healthy meals.

TeaAndStrumpets · 26/11/2025 13:13

@VikingNorthUtsire how disappointing! Perhaps it's worth one more go.

The best thing we've bought recently has been an electric potato masher. It has a larger head than a normal hand blender and creams rather than chops. DH has used it for mixing pancake batter and it made it very silky. Maybe something like that would do for soup? It's called a Masha...£35 on Amazon at the moment.

I'd be inclined to do the veg in a slow cooker first, I realise it's one more stage though. I do love a gadget!

FurForksSake · 26/11/2025 13:42

Ooh @TeaAndStrumpets we have a stick blender with a mashing potato head, I might think about when we can use it as we don’t!

we’ve watched the budget, I don’t think much will impact us at all.

VikingNorthUtsire · 26/11/2025 13:57

I am glad to report that Soup 2.0 was a success!

The fried up sofrito made a world of difference. Gives DH an extra pan to wash but he'll live.

@FurForksSake we use our mashing thing for carrot and parsnip which we freeze in mini Yorkshire pudding tins then tip into a plastic bag.

Not digested the budget as had a friend call in.

TeaAndStrumpets · 26/11/2025 15:49

@VikingNorthUtsire sounds like you've cracked it! Sounds very tasty.

Swanhilde · 26/11/2025 17:07

Back from work and the week is done. Good job as I'm completely knackered and my shoulders are up by my ears. No idea why, I slept well last night and actually felt okay when I got up for once 🤔

Still I'm in bed with a cuppa and DH is cooking pasta for tea.

Must have a restful day tomorrow as I have a busy weekend ahead and I'm worried I've overcommitted myself.

Starts with a meal out tomorrow evening. I can't remember the last time I was out after 5pm! It was probably when I last met up with these friends. It will be lovely to see them all and this is where my ACT training comes in 🤞 The urge to cancel is huge ...

Have a peaceful evening all 💕

MewithME · 26/11/2025 18:59

Hello my friends..I return victorious with great news....!

After 3 long years of suffering, I finally GOT A NEW BROADBAND CONTRACT! 😂

Yep. Only because I fucked up this morning. Bleary eyed,I opened an email about Virgin's black Friday deals which turned out to be even more than my eye watering internet contract I already have. I come home from work to see i now have a pre contract email saying I've ordered some utter crap for even more money. 😱

Anyway, an hour chatting to a young man with a bizarre accent called "Chris" and I am now paying thirty quid a month less for at least double the speed and then some and a new router which I haggled for free.

Go me!

P.s. I don't think I can take such excitement. Now in bed wondering what just happened 😂

Wow @MewithME I love that you did this by mistake and then transformed it into an epic triumph! Amazing.

MewithME · 26/11/2025 22:07

@VikingNorthUtsire maybe it's some clever new marketing strategy for idiots like me who are out of contract for years! Anyway... just a bit nervous now about the engineer visit and hoping I'm not without internet for long as I have so much work to do. At least I don't have any online meetings that day!

I must try and go to sleep early tonight. I'm a bit buzzy from getting lots done. I swear I have a bit of an adrenaline addiction or something. I used to thrive under pressure and that over achievement buzz is a dangerous feeling with Mecfs!

Anyway hope you are all ok this evening and sleep well tonight. @Realisation14 hope it was all ok with the little one yesterday.

@Swanhilde hope your night out is lovely when it comes. Hope you're being 'good' and dutifully tucked up now!

@VikingNorthUtsire I don't know what sofrito is .. sounds exotic for soup...but glad it's gone better! My soup making is just slow cook with decent kallo stock cubes on the hob and whizz up with hand blender. Today's soup was sweet potato and squash. It's was lovely with a dollop of greek yog.

Night night all.

VikingNorthUtsire · 26/11/2025 22:38

@MewithME a top tip I picked up from Mumsnet! It's diced onion, celery and carrot in a frozen mix. I've just bought my first bag but I can see it saving me an awful lot of standing around chopping. Every little helps!

Your soup sounds lovely.

Realisation14 · 27/11/2025 07:56

Morning all, I slept well last night (shocking!), the little one left at lunch time yesterday so I got straight back into pyjamas and had a chill afternoon reading my own book and also reading to my son.

Today I have a 20 minute walk planned for this morning, a bath later and some house work - exciting! Lol

FuzzyPuffling · 27/11/2025 08:23

I'm going to a local coffee shop this morning to meet a new friend.
I met her at a social event for over 50s women, which was interesting. We discovered we both did the same unusual job- what are the chances of that!

TeaAndStrumpets · 27/11/2025 09:30

Morning all!

After a shocking night previously, last night I was out like a light and slept until 7 am. I had no chance to rest yesterday but will try and do so today. I am aware of the 48 hour PEM so trying to rest before it catches up with me. I think since Tuesday I've been running on adrenaline.

I have almost finished Christmas shopping! Mostly clothes. Younger two easy enough, oldest 23 year old only wears black but it has to be the RIGHT black so I daren't even try! He's getting some sheepskin mules which he will be happy with.

My sister hasn't even bought any cards yet, so I have spurred her on.

We are expecting more visits from our potential buyer, they want to have a builder look round. I don't feel any need to be tidy for a builder, so don't feel the slightest pressure! I can sit on the sofa with my book while DH shows them round.

@FuzzyPuffling I'm thinking MI5 or deep sea diver....enjoy your coffee!
