As per previous posters there are no direct trains from Newcastle to London

like I said, it was just my first thought. I’m surprised at how many people on here are trying to make this into some sort of race thing though, when nothing is confirmed.

I don’t know what you are trying to say here, are you suggesting the Newcastle fans have travelled to Doncaster to board the train or are you just agreeing with me saying it wasn’t anywhere near Newcastle or are you not understanding what I said?

It doesn't matter which race, skin colour or culture did this, crime is crime, and we are witnessing a huge drop down of care in general. The shit seems to be floating to the top generally, thanks to a combination of low policing and a lighter hand against aggressive men in broader culture.

I get that the rags always want a race story to agitate the plebs, but the real issue is country wide.

You are exposed to increasing insanity whether you drive or take transport.

I was threatened with a knife by a group of boys in the north west a few months ago. It wasn't serious (I didn't feel they were likely to harm me thank god) but it did illustrate the casual apathy, the almost mundane acceptance of violence prevalent now amongst males, as opposed to the UK I grew up in (I am 50).

Males you say?
I wonder, statistically, what kind of males commit the most violent acts?
Commit the most murder etc?

Could there be a common characteristic...has this been studied?

Cloudynews · 01/11/2025 23:30

I'm a regular LNER traveller on this route so this is pause for thought. Hope everyone injured makes a recovery. Given the train was quite far into the journey and only about 45 mins from kings Cross, it's destination this may mean it was a violent fight.

Dozeyduck · 01/11/2025 23:30

I hate how unsafe everything feels sometimes. This is awful 😞

Out drinking Friday night, start drinking early in Saturday, drugs involved (like it or not cocaine is widely used by football fans, it’s apparently found all over Wembley), all it takes is one or two people kicking off for something like this to happen. im not saying it’s 100% the cause but it’s a possibility

You still haven’t said what Halloween has to do with this. Two people arrested suggests two perpetrators acting together, drunk people more likely to just fall asleep. Have your I ever been out drinking all day then got on a train?

SoEasyToFall · 01/11/2025 23:31

Lunalara · 01/11/2025 23:28

Surely this does fit the definition of a terror attack?

Not until the motive of the attackers are known.

A terror attack is generally defined as the calculated use or threat of serious violence against people or property to create widespread fear and to coerce or intimidate a government, the public, or an international organization into a specific course of action, typically for a political, religious, racial, or ideological cause.

youre just not willing to listen because I’m going against your grain of thinking.

100% this. They are fervent about their football but shitty they are not.

If you say so. My personal experience and the experience of others says otherwise.

like I’ve said multiple times now. That was just my first thought when I heard about it. Apparently that’s not allowed now and we must all get ourselves whipped into a frenzy when nothing is known.

Of course all those things are relevant

Harassedmum123 · 01/11/2025 23:34

I’ve heard there are 22 injured . Seems more like terrorism to me. I know an LNER staff member that was working today . Not sure yet if they were on that train. A truly horrifying incident.

BIossomtoes · 01/11/2025 23:34

I can’t believe that on a thread about an absolutely horrific incident people are squabbling. What’s the matter with you?

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/11/2025 23:34

They've just shown an interview with an eyewitness on Sky.

Newcastle are away to West Ham tomorrow. My first thought was that it could possibly be football related.

What a bizarre thing to say

Lifesd · 01/11/2025 23:35

Why an earth would we want to hope it is a white British man?! So it fits a perceived narrative and doesn’t lead to questions about the type of people who are coming here unchecked/vetted from violent third world countries with histories of religious terrorism?

What a bizarre thing to say.

yep. Go to bed, wake up in the morning and check the news reports then. We’ll know more.

Please do share these reliable, verified reports.

Or you could look it up yourself or wait a few days to find out exactly what I'm telling you now. Its all over tiktok its been on the main news its everywhere. There was a lot of witnesses all with cameras in there hands but if you want to wait a few days thats fine to

I might agree with you if it was on the Metro and Newcastle playing Sunderland.

There are clubs whose supporters have much worse reputations than Newcastle, though.

And I have to admit my first thought wouldn’t have been football. Most stabbings recently seem to have been either terrorists or men with mental health issues.

Comefromaway · 01/11/2025 23:37

terrifying. I really hope that everyone injured is ok.

it’s the route my son regularly travels on. He gets the train from Leeds. He’ll be on that route next week again.

Not much more you can say really. Shocking.

No I am listening. What on earth has Halloween got to do with this? You seem desperate to pin this on drunk people. Drunk people (who must have gone out whilst sober with knives) don’t, as a pair generally go on the rampage on a train together. Terrorism is far more likely, you just don’t want this to be the narrative even though this is far far more likely.

Wtf... You have no idea of my worldview.

There has been NOTHING confirmed by the police.

People like you just spread fear without any base at all. Idiocy.

AInightingale · 01/11/2025 23:38

Starmer says news is 'deeply concerning'. 'Deeply concerning', an attempted mass murder. I do wonder what the actual fuck is wrong with that man.
