Those poor people - they would have been trapped. I take that train so often. Just horrendous, my heart goes out to them and I pray they all make it.

Rituelec · 01/11/2025 23:03

Wtf

ninjahamster · 01/11/2025 23:04

It’s horrendous.

poids · 01/11/2025 23:04

local to me. Terrifying. And will escalate and get much much worse before it’s tackled properly.

Exactly this - no escape. Hideous.

Awful, this is one of my big fears because you are trapped.

Leaveittogod · 01/11/2025 23:04

What was the cause of it? Really terrible for those involved ❤️ my thoughts are with those who are hurt by this

SoEasyToFall · 01/11/2025 23:06

Newcastle are away to West Ham tomorrow. My first thought was that it could possibly be football related.

you must feel very anxious. I would

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/11/2025 23:07

The thought of being trapped is awful.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/11/2025 23:07

My prayers for everyone on board, so so scary 🥺

BIossomtoes · 01/11/2025 23:08

I often use that train too. The station is five minutes from us.

Mathsdebator · 01/11/2025 23:08

We were on a train with DS last week, there was a drunk bloke in our carriage. DH thought I was overreacting by moving ds from the aisle to the window. I felt like we were really vulnerable and it was the only thing I could do really as there's nowhere to run or hide if anything kicks off really.

Your first thought?

Yes, when they said it was the Newcastle to London train it was what I thought.

later on on a Saturday, pissed up, coked up football fans will do a lot. I’ve witnessed fights on trains before because football fans thought that someone was looking at them funny.

Have recently travelled on trains at similar times of the evening, my first thought was also that it's been an argument that's escalated into a fight and some idiots have had knives. Not necessarily football fans, just your run of the mill dickheads who think a weapon is a necessity.

hollyblueivy · 01/11/2025 23:12

Would this be classed as terrorism?

dapsnotplimsolls · 01/11/2025 23:13

Knifeman tasered and restrained according to Sky.

Absolutely but stabbing multiple people? Quite unusual even for football fans.

How on earth would that be known at this early stage?

That’s also a fair point. My mind didn’t immediately jump to terror attack because it’s not going to be the busiest time of day. Away fans in the premier league are also more likely to be the “ultras” and more prone to violence too. I’ve seen it spark off before on public transport after matches.
