Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

A model rather than a brand - but I have a very specific problem with the Nissan Qashqai, after a random Google search elicited the an AI response to the question "Is the Nissan Qashquai the worst car in the world?"

I had no intention of buying a Nissan Qashqui, but now I consider them to be the worst car in the world.

Round here the Quashqui is seen as being the car of choice of the stereotypical spoilt mum, the type that always has perfect nails, spends a lot of time in the spa, is always wearing sunglasses, hasn't worked since she got married, has a cleaner etc.
My friend who also happened to be my driving instructor used to rant about how much he hated "Quashqui mums" as they were such terrible drivers

As my sister whispered to me, after we walked past a Lush employee dressed as a fairy who was trying to get us to go into the store, "Lush, Lush it gives you thrush". I couldn't buy anything from there because I have that little ditty in my head every time I pass one of their stores.

My fanny flaps roll up like a roller blind if I go anywhere near Lush . Vile stuff

So weird, I was about to write Pandora and saw the person above me with the same comment.
Can't stand it, it looks like children's jewellery and the charms are like something 7yos collect.

Can't stand apple, never owned any of it and never will.

Tesla owners are pretentious pricks and the logo looks like an IUD

Solidor composite doors are utter shite.

I also can't stand ocado, not through any fault of their own but just because the utter TWATS across the road from me have an ocado delivery at the exact same time every Saturday morning and it just irritates the fuck out of me

Saltworks perfume. I have never bought any but their marketing appears to be stalking me.

Oh goodness yes! I was getting constant adverts and eventually fell for them- I was running out of my old perfume and thought I'd try the taster set. Lovely packaging but the scents themselves are so underwhelming. And no, I didn't get random strangers stopping to tell me how great I smelled...

Olivebranch123 · 30/10/2025 20:24

Fillipo Berrio. Never heard of in Italy. The most evil tasting olive oil known to man

Cantheowneroftheredcorsapleasemovetheircar · 30/10/2025 20:29

Re Lush - don't mind their products but their do-goody campaigny we-care-so-much black and white messages are annoying.

I don't even disagree with a lot of it but FFS. You're a soap shop. Just leave me alone and sell me the soap.

Screwyoucolin · 30/10/2025 20:29

Jelly Cats. The owners must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Cantheowneroftheredcorsapleasemovetheircar · 30/10/2025 20:30

IL makiage foundation.

What is that stuff? The adverts just feel so scammy

Klozza · 30/10/2025 20:31

Ugg
Crocs
Dryrobe
Tentbox
Clarks
Dyson
Birkenstock

Namastegal · 30/10/2025 20:31

Lucy & Yak. It should be banned indefinitely in the UK. The garish printed, shapeless, sack of potato clothing makes its customers look like Rosie and Jim and often does nothing for them. Those who wear it are trying to tell the world "look at how quirky I am, I'm wearing dungarees! I'm still fun". The dungarees they sell resemble aprons. Nobody should wear dungarees over the age of about 7 in my opinion, it is ridiculous when you see grown adults trying to dress like children's tv presenters. And don't get me started on the men who wear Lucy & Yak....

FaitesVosJeux · 30/10/2025 20:32

Anything endorsed by a so-called 'influencer'. Recently saw a whole pile of laundry shit with someone Molly something all over it - Persil is it? Fairy? I don't know. Drives me insane with rage.
Some dim witted influencer - usually famous for being blonde - couldn't influence me to get out of a burning car 😂so I'm certainly never buying a product with their face plastered all over it.

Lindor. My taste in chocolate is very cheap (literally Malteasers or bust) and so any Lindt type chocolate always strikes me as being uppity with ideas above it's station.

You should maybe try Lily O'Brien's chocs which are wonderful

i loathe Viking Cruises because of their advertising. The first one says “no casinos and no children “ which is fair enough, then at the end says something along the lines of “Viking Cruises for the thinking person” so saying parents are knuckle dragging idiots that can’t go on a Viking cruise because they are for thinking people only.

the second one is a “research ship” that shows a bunch of idiots surrounding someone in a white coat looking at slides through a microscope. Yeah sure Janet and Bob from Hull are going to solve global warming looking at slides on Vickings scientific research ship. Just fuck off Viking.

Bunniemalone · 30/10/2025 20:36

Lol... I have found my people 😂.. I agree with majority of these!

It always makes me think of the pretentious fuckers you'd encounter on said cruises.

Tangled123 · 30/10/2025 20:38

I really dislike Tesla, Shein, Temu, Nestle and Amazon but I don’t think that’s unreasonable. For that, I would probably pick ASOS. I’m so sick of their constant adverts on YouTube with the very miserable model and boring clothes.

Thesteinwaysyouvebeenleadingmeon · 30/10/2025 19:39

He's an annoying little cunt !!

And kind or creepy?

Cantheowneroftheredcorsapleasemovetheircar · 30/10/2025 20:41

When DS was little there were a section of parents who were really into "scandi" children's clothing.

I can't remember any of the brand names but it was all awful, looked terrible and the parents who dressed their kids in it had a weird smugness about them and I could never figure out why exactly.

Has that phased now, or are people still doing it?

I often wonder if they will ever look back at baby photos and wonder WTF they were thinking

Sixtygoingonthirty · 30/10/2025 20:47

Pandora!! Their overpriced chavvy charm bracelets with tacky charms in particular.

what chox do the Swiss rate?

I really don't know about what Swiss people think, but some alternatives that I'm aware of are:

Chococo, a small company based in Dorset that have been making really nice chocolate for more than 20 years.

Pump Street Chocolate, based in Suffolk, have also been making chocolate for about 15 years.

Marcolini, a Belgian chocolate company that is really expensive but really nice as a treat.

Jo Malone. I just don't like the name and the branding.

I actually really like the products but I can't stand the name "Jo" for women.

I do apologise to any women here called "Jo" but it just sets my teeth on edge.

Redheadedstepchild · 30/10/2025 20:47

Petit bateau.

I could explain but I might start to be unpleasant. So I sharn't.

LittleGlowingOblong · 30/10/2025 20:50

This is such an interesting thread! So many of the brands mentioned I am meh about too (though a fair few I have never heard of).

Now waiting for someone to start the ‘Brands we just love’ thread…
