Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Can't stand the Beckhams.
Can't stand Chris Moyles.
Can't stand subway odd smelling weirdly lit place a million pounds for wafer thin ham.
Can't stand Kia cars.

Gucci, just looks like tatt ! I don't know why anyone likes it.

I agree and I feel the same disdain for Burberry. The pattern is awful.

Loloj · 30/10/2025 20:51

I’m amused by the level of hatred toward Tesla drivers here 😂.

I drive a Tesla and I definitely don’t park like a knob and nor do I smugly drive around thinking that everyone wants my Tesla or is desperate to have a lift from me 🤣🤣

Apple - never owned one but every time I see an advert for any Apple product I mentally go 'How much!' in a Victor Meldrew type voice. Plus Steve Jobs always struck me as a bit of a kn*b.

It seems a bit of a cult....

Edited

Arf! I bought an Apple II desktop - an all-in-one box, only the keyboard was separate - back in 1989 when they had a very, very cheap deal for students. It came with No Software Whatsoever!!! (beyond a basic notepad-type thingy), though I was rescued by a friend who was (and remains) an Apple fan. To its credit, it did the job and was passed on about 5 years later to a friend's daughter.

I bought an iPhone SE earlier this year, purely because it's the only phone that isn't the size of a brick. It was on offer at the time and I'd describe it as "over-complicated and frustrating if you're not an Apple fangirl, but okay if you just want to receive calls, text and look at the bus timetable."

Petit bateau.

I could explain but I might start to be unpleasant. So I sharn't.

It's lovely. What on earth could be wrong with a children's underwear and pyjama brand with sober stylings (predominantly stripes)?

It's one of the only brands of underwear for children that doesn't go twisted and scratchy round the elastic areas.

I can accept the women's range was possibly opportunistic ...

Jojo maman bebe 🤮

Overpriced and pretentious

Edit: I have to say the name in a piss take faux French accent every time I see one, and roll my eyes.

OrigamiOwls · 30/10/2025 20:55

Pets at Home, they screwed me over with a refund and I've not set foot in one since. Admitted it was only £8, but it was both the principle and the shocking attitude of the staff member that put me right off.

RoseHipNovember · 30/10/2025 20:58

Artipoppe baby carriers, I can’t stand them! I think they look naff and uncomfortable and the only reason why people covet them is because vacuous influencers wear them (obviously gifted too), so they seem like a status symbol. Makes me think of that ghastly Hadid women, and then her even more horrid family.

Fuzzy Duck toiletries - aren’t they part of Baylis and Harding? Should be banned. I’ll never do work secret Santa again after last year.

The Co-Op supermarket. Morally dubious virtue signalling tossers.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 30/10/2025 13:33

Bayliss and Harding - definitely not luxury, sick of seeing it in Asda

Yes!!! They are crap

The Nissan Cube. The most offensively ugly car ever to roll off a production line.

I take your Nissan Cube and I raise you with the Fiat Multipla

ThatLovingPear · 30/10/2025 21:05

White Fox, and I might be a horrible, smug mum that my teen daughters also hate it!

Roseshoe · 30/10/2025 21:07

I’ve just discovered Laderach chocolate - it’s seriously good and very expensive!

I dislike Tony’s because they do odd shaped bits of chocolate in an effort to be different and it’s just all too chunky and virtuous.

So what is the dislike for Kate Spade? I have a friend who absolutely loves the bags (I don’t like leather bags and don’t own any) but I’m curious- are they not ‘proper’ designer?

ImSeRa · 30/10/2025 21:09

I absolutely hate the Labubu dolls that influencers put on their bags.

HarryVanderspeigle · 30/10/2025 21:10

Cafe Nero once gave me a decaf latte when I asked for a standard one and i have never been back. The person made the wrong order, asked if I wanted decaf and I said no. I am sensitive to caffeine, so I know they definitely just brought out the same one again!

Scamp and Dude. I don't even think I need to elaborate on why, it seems obvious to me

I don’t think that I’ve ever noticed music in their stores. I’ll be visiting one tomorrow though, or possibly 2 as they’re 5 minutes apart so I’ve probably just not paid attention.

I get irrationally enraged by the fact they- and Flying Tiger and IKEA- kettle you round the store in the direction they choose so you can’t get out without walking through the whole place. Or overtake anyone stopping to browse.
The music is twee for sure.

I can't stand Tony's either!

The weird shaped bits annoy me unreasonably. Plus, wtf is 'chocolonely? Chocolate for lonely people? Sounds like a toddler who can't pronounce chocolate properly! Argh, I hate it!!!

Head and Shoulders. It had an ad that really irritated me as a child and for some reason I've carried that rage for 30 years.

was it the swishy hair advert? I loved that advert so much as a child I had my hair cut into the same bob!

Queenage · 30/10/2025 21:20

Specsavers - it’s just too frantic in there, thousands of people, with clipboards barking orders at you. Giving me palpitations just thinking about my next eye test.

TheCorrsDidDreamsBetter · 30/10/2025 21:22

Starbucks. But not for the same reason many people hate Starbucks.

I used to work there, and I've got nightmares of the little old ladies (and yes it was little old ladies) asking for their drink extra extra hot, and returning it 2 or 3 times because it wasn't hot enough, even if you scald the milk within an inch of it's life. Walking past a Starbucks gives me flashbacks to being given an absolute bollocking for not being able to get milk hotter than the boiling point and being called things like silly little girl, stupid girl, being told I don't know anything, can't do anything right, by people asking for the absolute impossible, and not being able to stand up for myself because of the duty to protect brand reputation which was seen as a big bloody deal. When I told my boss how it made me feel she just pointed to a sign that says we'll make the drink exactly as the customer likes and they can return it for an exchange if they're dissatisfied.

It's one thing getting screamed at by customers but it's another realising that a place doesn't value their staff, so now I just won't go back to one.

A model rather than a brand - but I have a very specific problem with the Nissan Qashqai, after a random Google search elicited the an AI response to the question "Is the Nissan Qashquai the worst car in the world?"

I had no intention of buying a Nissan Qashqui, but now I consider them to be the worst car in the world.

My friend leased one for a while and I really liked it, but we have two fantastic mechanics in our lives and both refer to them as Nissan cash cows as they are forever having bits go wrong with them. And, to be fair, my friend’s one did have half a dozen things that weren’t working properly within 18 months.

I won’t use the Coop, Innocent, Flora or Lush because of various things they’ve done which have irritated me over the years, including those stupid little woolly hats they stuck on bottles. I don’t like Tesco because I feel like they’re attempting to bribe people into signing up for their club card unless they want to pay eight times the price (although, hypocritically, I don’t have the same issue with the Nectar card). That stupid perfume ad with the ‘Daisy, daisy, daisy’ line. Uber. We don’t have it here and I don’t do apps, but I wouldn’t use it if we did and I did. Dyson; had 4, all shit. They absolutely do lose suction. Shark would have been on my list too, because their vacuums are just as shit, but they did redeem themselves with a Shark fan. Crocs; the holes are to let the shame out. The Secret Escapes with the whispering woman ads. Hyundai, who feel the need to tell everyone how to pronounce their name, as if anyone cares. And those wrinkly rucksacks with the manky looking gorilla keyring. And I’m a bit wary of Lego, having experienced beyond shit customer service until I started send emails to anyone whose name I could find and my issue got sorted.

I came on to say EXACTLY this…word for word…..I’ve never “ got” Superdry and I never will….

Me three! When I was OLD anyone wearing that brand was an immediate swipe left. A surprising amount of men did wear it (2015-2020)

Ive never heard of Tentbox so googled and... I dont understand!!!

It’s basically a tent on top of a car, but the people that have them tend to be prentious assholes so it makes me hate the brand 😂

Patiently scrolling and expecting this to come up 😂 I have no other reason than it's just one of those wanky names!
