Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

BMW. Driven by twats.

Audis. Also driven by twats and Audi TTs were described by my mother as "hairdresser's cars". Which was not a compliment
Lush, because of the smells and the politics. Which is a shame because I used to love their stuff when they started out.
House of Bruar. Bit niche, this one, but it basically promotes tweedy heathery overpriced fake Scotland half-way up the A9. Nice toilets, though.

House of Bruar ads are a version of what tourists perhaps think Scotland is.

Mysticmaud · 30/10/2025 18:59

Planta 39- €1 in Germany. Only one model has good hair.

PG Tips, floor sweepings (although I like Emily Attack in the ad )

Yankee Candle ( never bought one and never will).

Tena, I don't need to see transparent knickers and c section scars.

B & Q

Peugeot cars

Fat face, fucking rude. Never been in one.

Whistles (I was told a nice scarf might suit me). Tiny clothes at the time.

KFC, the coated man has put DD and I off

Victoria's secret, are they still trading? Disgusting sexist crap.

Go compare (see above for the voice over pervert).

Crocs

Dawn French doing the marks advertisement. Don't know why!

Loads more.

A671090 · 30/10/2025 19:02

lurpak - never understood why you just don’t buy better

BBC - the news (totally biased) and radio 2 (just awful) elements.

Nurofen - I don’t get why people would ever buy it! Ibuprofen is the same?

Musicmummy63 · 30/10/2025 19:03

Lush- their shop smells so strong when I walk past. Never been in and don't get the idea of a bath bomb.

I occasionally get hotel chocolate - I throw it over the churchyard behind my house for the mice to eat. Cannot stand the stuff. It was once ok, about 20 years ago, then they changed.

Hotel Chocolate is my hatred.. overpriced, plasticy tasting chocolate.

This is music to my ears!❤️

Slightyamusedandsilly · 30/10/2025 19:05

BMW cars. Screams look at me.

Also, VWs. I know they're reliable but I've never bought into all the hype about them.

Dove. Smells too worthy.

😂😂😂

Me & Em. So frumpy and overpriced.

Never even heard of this brand until someone suggested them for an occasion outfit on here
Googled them and not for me

housethatbuiltme · 30/10/2025 19:12

Not so much 'dislike' but talking the other day it came up that I have never had a Starbucks.

I dont mind the odd Costa (Hospital has a Costa and Ive been in Hospital a lot). I have had a Nero or 2 way back when meeting friends in Uni who choose there to meet up but never ever had a single rhyme, reason or occasion to pop into a Starbucks (or Dunkin Donut for that matter either). There is even a Starbucks at the end of my road and still just never needed to use it.

They never seem to be anywhere useful (for example the end of my street, which is pretty much nowhere its just a drive through on a roundabout at the edge of a small forgotten town but why would I leave my house to walk the street and buy an overpriced coffee? like who is it for?) and I'm left wonder what the actual market for them is.

Head and Shoulders. It had an ad that really irritated me as a child and for some reason I've carried that rage for 30 years.

“I didn’t know you had dandruff”
”I don’t!”

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 30/10/2025 19:16

Revlon.
In the days when they had their own counter & staff in bigger branches of Boots, their rep wore a bright pink lipstick with their red uniform.
Never trusted them if they can't train their staff or test them for colour-blindness.

Tesla. Every time I see one of the dratted cars, I want to chuck eggs at it or blow it up. Though disliking Tesla probably isn't unreasonable...

Also Citroens, as I've now driven 3 of them and they are the worst cars to drive on the planet. A cardboard box with wheels would corner better.

You’re lucky if you’re in the UK. In Canada, people drive Cybertrucks. Hands down the ugliest car I have ever seen.

Newsenmum · 30/10/2025 19:19

Those duracell bunnies.

GellerYeller · 30/10/2025 19:19

Special K. Since they tried to pass it off as some sort of meal replacement and all their ‘pinch an inch’ tosh.
Charlotte Tilbury: ‘darlings’ just no.

Can't remember, sorry. But I was derided while I was there by Swiss friends for liking it.

I live in Switzerland and Lindt is a very popular brand in supermarkets along with Cailler. There are other brands but
smaller. Sprungli and Laderach are popular luxury chocolates. I like Laderach more than Sprungli. I am not Swiss but with very refined taste buds 😅

WhatASmashingBlouseYouHaveOn · 30/10/2025 19:20

Roman clothing. I bought a jumper and on the first day of wear to work the neckline seem irritated my skin so much I had to go and buy a thin polo neck during my lunch break. My skin was red and itchy and I don't have sensitive skin.

Every time I see their ads I think nope! Don't think so.

I adore cheap chocolate the most!:

  • giant milk chocolate buttons
  • kids Easter egg chocolate
  • Aero balls
  • Maltesers.

Oh, and my chocolate must be pre-'crisped' in the fridge 😋.

You sound like an excellent human being!

nothingtoseehereatall · 30/10/2025 19:24

KFC because my mum broke her leg outside one (not inside, mark you) about half a century ago and I’ve inherited the family grudge. Only ever been in one once, in Malaysia, when I was truly desperate for the loo.

Mokel · 30/10/2025 19:25

Nurofen - I don’t get why people would ever buy it! Ibuprofen is the same?

It's marketed for ignorant people. In Australia, they have banned the sale of specific pain area Nurofen, and perhaps other brands. As people for example, had back pain and a headache. They took Nurofen Back Pain and and Nurofen Headaches. These people are overdosing. Nurofen has the same active ingredients and its absorbed in the same way regardless of what pain and tablets you take.

Imeldaeyeball · 30/10/2025 19:25

Scamp and Dude - Everything makes me cringe. It'slike a cult uniform.

Nestle - scumbags.

Basically anything advertised by IG mummy/reno influencers...

I was the big cheese at Revlon at that time. Revlon red had to be worn. Anything else uniform breach.

knowingmekniwingyou · 30/10/2025 18:42

I didn't think a they advertised

Not directly but there are loads of stores such as Curry's, Argos etc offering iphones / ipads etc at what seem to me to be extortionate prices compared to other (what seem to me to be) similar products

JustMeAndTheFish · 30/10/2025 19:30

Skoda. I know they’re respectable now and made by a reputable company but never ever in my life will I drive a Skoda. If I win a brand new one it would be immediately put up for sale 🤣

This is actually quite outing but here goes:

I was out with friends and we were sharing out lifts home.

Initially I was going with a friend's DH but then another friend offered to take me and it worked better for various reasons. I therefore called across to the DH and said "Thanks, but not to worry, I am going with x."

He called back - in front of everyone - "Ah well ... might get lucky next time."

I honestly thought he was hitting on me in front of his wife's friends - until he gave a naff gesture towards his car and said "One day you'll ride in a Tesla." 🙄😳😆

Meh. If I want a ride in a Tesla, I'll book an Uber, thanks. Under a tenner and gets me to work quicker than the bus.

Mysticmaud · 30/10/2025 19:32

Currys

They won't give my daughter a job and she'd be brilliant.
When the computers went down at school she'd get them up and going again.
