Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

You needed a white cane to navigate their shops.
They had it that dark you could barely see the clothes.

That's the bloody shop I had to navigate to buy our niece something good few years back,it was like a cave.

Holland Cooper. Overpriced trying to be ‘country’ rubbish. I think it looks cheap.

White fox- too common.

North face- scally lads with hoods up

A family member wears Holland Cooper and I shudder. It really is city attempting to be country and stands out like a sore thumb.

BestieBunch · 30/10/2025 18:32

Mines a car brand too…
BMW & Honda… I have absolutely no reason to support this other than I just don’t like them… not being a car snob as I drive a knobbish car 🫣

I've been boycotting Tesco ever since the Dame Shirley Porter 'Homes for Votes' scandal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirley_Porter

@didntlikeanyofthesuggestions
Superdry. No explanation needed.
Please explain.
I love my Supdry zip hoody and ive a couple t shirts that are good.

Yes I like the Superdry clothing I’ve bought too - no logos but decent quality basics.

AquaForce · 30/10/2025 18:36

H&M - it seems normal, until you start looking through the rails and find some of the craziest WTF garments in the high street.

Me too!! Although quite hard to explain to people these days!

I only like the original Cadbury’s.

I tell my family never to buy me posh chocolate (I loathe it) but to get me some Milk Tray and the they ignore me every time. I end up disappointed and usually give the stuff away.😢

Wish it were me !

SerenaJoy · 30/10/2025 18:38

Laura Ashley. A member of staff was rude to me in their shop once (about 20 years ago) and I swore I would never have anything to do with them ever again 😄

TheBabyFatmoss · 30/10/2025 18:39

Kipling. Incredibly overpriced and they insist on calling the dangly gorilla a monkey. Fills me with disproportional rage

Equalizer · 30/10/2025 18:39

All expensive sunglasses brands, I just can't take them seriously.

Skoda, it is just a no for me. Toyota Prius

Mango - nothing quite looks right on?

Phase Eight (although they did have a half decent season one year).

Vans - just don't look like they will be good for your feet.

EverythingElseIsTaken · 30/10/2025 18:41

French Connection. I hate the way they think it’s cool to have a logo that “almost but not quite” says fuck.

Primary - there’s no way they can sell things that cheap unless they are using sweat shops.

P00hsticks · 29/10/2025 22:46

Apple - never owned one but every time I see an advert for any Apple product I mentally go 'How much!' in a Victor Meldrew type voice. Plus Steve Jobs always struck me as a bit of a kn*b.

It seems a bit of a cult....

I didn't think a they advertised

Nothungrycat · 30/10/2025 18:43

BMW. Driven by twats.

Audis. Also driven by twats and Audi TTs were described by my mother as "hairdresser's cars". Which was not a compliment
Lush, because of the smells and the politics. Which is a shame because I used to love their stuff when they started out.
House of Bruar. Bit niche, this one, but it basically promotes tweedy heathery overpriced fake Scotland half-way up the A9. Nice toilets, though.

knowingmekniwingyou · 30/10/2025 18:43

Johnson's baby shampoo, no tears, knots the hair

Waterbaby41 · 30/10/2025 18:44

Lush. Can't stand the smell - is so strong I can smell it a street away!
Ditto - Subway😞

Nothungrycat · 30/10/2025 18:47

Also Dune. I bought a pair of patent leather brogues from them about 15 years ago, and the shine rubbed off one toe over a week's holiday when I basically wore them for a couple of hours every evening, indoors. They took them back to examine them and then wouldn't give me a refund as they stated that the wear and tear was within a normal range, or some such bullshit. Never crossed their threshold since.

Yes I like the Superdry clothing I’ve bought too - no logos but decent quality basics.

I have some great Superdry jumpers, no logos other than a small label on the sleeve which could probably be taken off, lovely warm cable knit (a couple are 100% cotton). Their jeans are the only ones I wear as well.

Oh and there blanket scarves from 5 years ago are so lovely and warm.

Actually it's not really an unreasonable dislike!

ruethewhirl · 30/10/2025 18:51

Slightyamusedandsilly · 29/10/2025 22:54

Gucci. Purely because of those really shit brown toned handbags with the pattern made out of the logo. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Yep. See also Louis Vuitton. Such boring designs!

Anxietybummer · 30/10/2025 18:52

Yorkie. I remember some ‘not for girls’ nonsense add they ran and I just thought ‘knobs’.

Burger King for similar reasons but can’t remember the add.

Nanatobethatsme46 · 30/10/2025 18:54

Kipling, not so much the recent stuff without this but anything with that bloody ugly furry monkey keyring attached just makes it look like cheap tat from the market

lcakethereforeIam · 30/10/2025 18:55

Bayliss & Harding because two Councillors (who were in a relationship) with different but similar names and were absolutely horrible people. One of them sent an email to my sister, complete with a computer virus 😠

First time a saw the brand, out of the corner of my eye, I thought it was actually their names! Gave me such a shock. I've never forgiven it.

I think they're dead now, but the brand is still dead to me.

butterpuffed · 30/10/2025 18:58

Diptyque candles . I can't see the point of buying ridiculously expensive candles which melt away like normal ones .
