Brands you (unreasonably) dislike?

I was thinking about this tonight as I parked next to a Renault SUV. It’s completely unreasonable but I’ve never liked the brand since someone I know once said ‘it’s like driving a bin on wheels’. Even though I’m sure the brand is perfectly fine (and very popular) it’s stuck in my head. Apologies to all Renault drivers!

I’ve got other brands I unreasonably dislike too but do you have any?

Head and Shoulders. It had an ad that really irritated me as a child and for some reason I've carried that rage for 30 years.

Every hairdresser always tells me how awful it is, and that it is terrible for hair.

I've never liked the idea of a kind of antifungal shampoo, so i try to use a natural version like tea tree oil or mint shampoo.

Yorkie bars. I still haven't forgiven them for their Not For Girls campaign.

Haha same! That campaign really annoys me even now.

JoJoMamanBebe - sorry if misspelled, I don't like French language since childhood (and I don't have kids).
It just looks so stupid written down.

I thought it was just me!

That name really irritates me. I’m notorious for being too literal, but I’m always left thinking…that’s 3 people…there’s Jo Jo, and Maman and Bebe. Who’s Jojo and haven’t the Maman and Babe got names too? Is Jojo the Bebe? Or the daddy?

Persil non biological

i cannot stand the smell, i have such a strong aversion to it, after working in residential home,
my dm uses it and i cannot bear the smell of her washing!

Me too. I use Aldi liquid at a very good price. Detergent is money for a old rope, just goes down the drain, literally!

whoamI00 · 30/10/2025 18:06

Shein, Primark

also cannot stand pandora charm bracelets

I agree with Pandora and I’ll raise you Nominations bracelets and Thomas sodding Sabo. Awful stuff, all of it!

Heinz. They seem determined to ruin all of their products. Their collaboration with Richmond for their sausages is just a step too far.

Pricelessadvice · 30/10/2025 18:10

Holland Cooper. Overpriced trying to be ‘country’ rubbish. I think it looks cheap.

White fox- too common.

North face- scally lads with hoods up

I know a Swiss lady who likes Laderach a lot.

Lindt is definitely supermarket chocolate.

Personally I like Belgian better than Swiss - things like Neuhaus.

I only like the original Cadbury’s.

I tell my family never to buy me posh chocolate (I loathe it) but to get me some Milk Tray and the they ignore me every time. I end up disappointed and usually give the stuff away.😢

Snag tights for their gross adverts.

I'm never touching another Flash product again - again for their insufferable TV ads.

Ryan Air - but that's not without good reason.

Halara jeans - I bought a pair and now they are stalking me round the internet day and night.

Were the Halara jeans any good?

CockSpadget · 30/10/2025 18:12

Reform UK Ltd. But I do feel very reasonable in my dislike.

No, they are horrible! I was utterly peed off when they came out as I (used) to wear the one my mum collected me from childhood travels then gave to me in my late teens. I adored that, it was unusual and now people will think am trying to rip off pandora.

Boden and Joules.

Never heard of either of them outside of MN.

They just make me think of the people who ‘clutch their pearls’ and shop in Waitrose.

I clutch my pearls and sometimes shop in Waitrose. I don’t wear Boden or Joules but I’m very familiar with them.

It might cheer you up to know that it isn't rated as good chocolate in Switzerland. OK for foreigners but not for the Swiss.

Cailler is the amazing chocolate you buy in Switzerland, sadly the Swiss don't export it. Far superior to Lindt in my opinion.

101Alsatians · 30/10/2025 18:16

Doritos

Their crisps are rank!

I also think cos of that Friends knockoff ad about 'women can have multiple orgasms'.

I occasionally get hotel chocolate - I throw it over the churchyard behind my house for the mice to eat. Cannot stand the stuff. It was once ok, about 20 years ago, then they changed.

Hotel Chocolate is my hatred.. overpriced, plasticy tasting chocolate.

Hollister, reminds me of unpleasant teenagers that made DD’s life a misery at high school in the 2010s.

You needed a white cane to navigate their shops.
They had it that dark you could barely see the clothes.

Rituelec · 30/10/2025 18:22

Jollyjoy · 29/10/2025 22:53

Purdey and figg. Probably their stuff smells nice but I resent their adverts everywhere, feels too aggressive an approach for what should be a gentle, ‘sweet smelling’ brand in my mind.

These. Feels too pushy and fake. So ive never brought.

WittyTaupeFox · 30/10/2025 18:23

Trinny London - used to be a fan. Now just annoyed at her stance and the ridiculous prices for basic make up.

BengalBangle · 30/10/2025 18:23

Joules and Boden.

Houseleeks · 30/10/2025 18:24

Joules. Do not think you will cross my threshold wearing anything by Joules. (Unless you're under 5yo and cute).

moggiek · 30/10/2025 18:25

Liberty. I waited 50 years to visit that store. What a disappointment! Smelled of damp, had dirty toilets and sold the usual tat with ginormous price tags. Couldn’t get out fast enough.

I have an irrational dislike of Tesco after once having a run in with an extremely rude member of staff. It was over 10 years ago but I’m not willing to let it go.

Oh goodness, I’m glad it’s not just me but I always get the rage in our local Tesco superstore. My DH just doesn’t get it and we’ve actually ended up having a row about a supermarket. I don’t know whether it’s the lighting, the layout or the way things are displayed but I actually feel a cloud descending on me whenever I go in and I genuinely feel stressed and anxious. Even the flooring winds me up! No other food shop has this effect on me.

It’s all very odd, but I’m reassured that I’m not unique.

No way! Jo Malone has such an inspiring origin story from a British female entrepreneur. The scents are also really gorgeous. Give them another go!

Try Jo loves, that's her new range post lauder acquiring the original brand.

Tesla. It’s not so much the cars themselves that I dislike, although they do have crappy interiors, uncomfortable seats, anwful ergonomics & frustrating tech. It’s the association with the ghastly Mr Musk. That’s why I would never buy one, however temptingly cheap used ones have become.

Totally agree!
