This poor woman. - why won't the NHS help her?

I have to say, she is partly to blame for getting her implants from Turkey, but to be left in absolutely awful pain for months, and with no treatment in sight, it's a travesty in this modern world that this poor woman has to suffer as she is clearly in the worst pain and her physical and mental health must be at rock bottom.

Her TikTok account shows her story.

TikTok profile name: djabeyance

Basically, she's got a dreadful infection in her sinuses from the botched implants, which have led to necrosis and her nose is literally rotting away with a huge hole which is where her nostrils were (are?!)

Sorry to post such a sensitive topic, please be aware that it's quite distressing to see her nose.

I understand that the NHS and surgeons will not treat patients who've had any cosmetic surgery from abroad, due to litigation and the risk of any further complications, but it's madness to think this woman is left to suffer.

Presumably the NHS are doing the level of treatment needed to stop her from actually dying? But I'm guessing not any cosmetic surgery to repair the damage?

Yes, i agree. But her face will continue to go necrotic unless the implants are removed, I presume?

Sorry but I don’t agree with Tik Tok

This is not true at all. (Many wish it was, but that doesn't make it true).

You have only heard one side of this story, I am sure there is much more to it. If there is something than can and should be done, the NHS doctors would do it. Also, why isn't the clinic she had the procedure done in helping her?

I know - I don't look that often but I occasionally get a story that I click on.

Not necessarily.

It’s likely to be an infection from the implant surgery, rather than implants themselves being full of infection.

So once the infected and necrotic tissue is removed and / or treated, then leaving the remaining would to heal is likely to be successful from an infection perspective.

anxietyangel · 11/10/2025 14:30

What implants did she have done? I don’t have TikTok so cannot check her story.

I think the clinic is saying she used drugs that affected her sinus and she needed a bone graft and sinus lift. Sorry, I can't remember all the exact details.

I think it was an AllOn4 or whatever it is called.

She had veneers that had reached their maximum time limit so needed implants after.

You can google her, Leanne Abeyance, and read the whole sorry story.

I feel for her because it sounds terrible, but she was warned by her NHS dentist not to have it done and chose vanity over sound medical advice. Unfortunately this is exactly what they were warning her about! She's lucky we have an NHS that could save her life tbh.

But I guess if nobody wants to remove the necrotic tissue, it will keep spreading and the infection will stay?

And then won't her face all become infected and the flesh will all die? 😳😞

I have no sympathy at all. The NHS resources and time should not be wasted on these idiots.

I agree that she made a poor decision to go abroad, but if her face is practically rotting away, isn't that a good enough reason to treat her? What about if it reaches her brain, eyes etc?

Anyone who has surgery abroad should be on the hook for the entire cost of any issues and follow up.

I saw a young woman who went to turkey for a gastric band. She didn’t follow the aftercare instructions and is now undergoing incredibly expensive rehab after she was left paralysed by malnutrition. How on earth is it right that the NHS pays for that????

LizzyEm · 11/10/2025 14:40

Why doesn't she go back to wherever it is and get them to sort it as aftercare or pay them to sort it out?

Sameoldsameold78 · 11/10/2025 14:40

Are you her??

Jauntyangles · 11/10/2025 14:41

its just fuck around and find out isn’t it? Told not to do it, did it, found out there was a reason r was told not to do it, did a shit ton drugs and wants other people to mop up her own bad decisions. Nah, I’d rather the NHS money went on other things.

I'm reading the story as being that the implants couldn't be removed while they were infected - but now the infection is under control, it's no longer an emergency situation. So removing them now would be purely cosmetic?

Thephantom · 11/10/2025 14:42

I don't have Tiktok. Can't she get this remedied from the place she got this done?! Surely they must have after-care?! I bet she'll likely sue her cosmetic surgeon but won't pay the NHS for fixing the problem she's imported from Turkey. As a pp has said the NHS are likely doing what is necessary to stop her from dying but addressing her aesthetics is not really an nhs problem. She should go back to Turkey and get it sorted . Every surgery has its own risk, and as a consenting adult she took this risk, so shouldn't really be moaning (if that is what she is doing )

Dollymylove · 11/10/2025 14:42

Have the NHS refused outright or just put her on a lengthy waiting list?

TeaForTheTillermanSteakForTheSun · 11/10/2025 14:43

I find it really difficult to feel sorry for someone who cheaped out on a pretty major and invasive procedure against the advice of a dentist, and now expects the NHS to pick up the cost.

I obviously wouldn't wish it on anyone, but she was well aware of the risks and the limits of the NHS to sort things should they go wrong.

Chewbecca · 11/10/2025 14:43

I would like an insurance company to set up a policy you could (or be mandated to) buy before embarking on such surgery that covered the cost of private treatment for any issues arising. It would never work though as the clinics would happily proceed without them and the clients wouldn't spend the ££.

I'm not entirely sure, I'm guessing the inflammation and infection is still there as the necrosis is still eating at her nose?🤔
