This poor woman. - why won't the NHS help her?

I have to say, she is partly to blame for getting her implants from Turkey, but to be left in absolutely awful pain for months, and with no treatment in sight, it's a travesty in this modern world that this poor woman has to suffer as she is clearly in the worst pain and her physical and mental health must be at rock bottom.

Her TikTok account shows her story.

TikTok profile name: djabeyance

Basically, she's got a dreadful infection in her sinuses from the botched implants, which have led to necrosis and her nose is literally rotting away with a huge hole which is where her nostrils were (are?!)

Sorry to post such a sensitive topic, please be aware that it's quite distressing to see her nose.

I understand that the NHS and surgeons will not treat patients who've had any cosmetic surgery from abroad, due to litigation and the risk of any further complications, but it's madness to think this woman is left to suffer.

Do you not accept that if something actually needed doing, the NHS would do it? You are guessing. Her Drs know.

That's why I think you are only getting half the story.

Dollymylove · 11/10/2025 14:42

Have the NHS refused outright or just put her on a lengthy waiting list?

I think she's only being offered antibiotics AFAIK.

Of course, but surely there's a duty of care to get the best treatment and help a patient who's clearly in a lot of pain?

Why doesn't she go back to wherever it is and get them to sort it as aftercare or pay them to sort it out?

I'm guessing she's been a bit put off them! And I think they aren't really helping her either.

She will have to continue to pay privately to have this corrected. She could afford to pay in the first place, she will have to fund herself again.

We all know the risks.

Puppycrate · 11/10/2025 14:48

I think the nhs should help her . She’s a taxpayer I assume ? Where do you draw the line otherwise ? If someone buys a £3k car or motorbike then crashes it , if someone goes on a £3k skiing holiday and has an injury needing nhs treatment on return , if someone spends £3k on drink and drugs and needs medical help due to consequences of that ? I could go on and on. She doesn’t necessarily need nhs reconstruction afterwards but surely they should at least get those implants out for her and treat the infection for safety reasons.

When someone seeks unnecessary medical treatment?

The duty of care sits with the provider that carried out the work surely? It’s hard to see how the NHS has a duty of care to anyone who consciously and deliberately goes against their advice. No wonder it’s on its knees…what happened to personal responsibility? In my view she should be billed for all the work the NHS has carried out as a result of her actions.

Why are you so invested in this story when you don't seem to even know all of the details?

When someone seeks unnecessary medical treatment?

Yes - I think she should be able to have the implants taken out on the nhs and then have the wounds cleaned and treated (would she need IV antibiotics I assume ?) after that she should self fund any reconstruction needed but as the situations stands now surely she’s at huge risk of an infection reaching her brain ? That would cost the nhs a lot more to deal with ?

Stravaig · 11/10/2025 14:51

Has she got filters on in the Tiktok video? Her skin looks very smooth and young in the still you posted, which she's not. Hard to take seriously as a brave whistleblower on the dangers of cosmetic surgery and the perils of vanity if so.

Yes, i agree. But i do think there is an element of any NHS or private surgeon not wanting to take on the work of another dentist, as they don't have access to her notes, treatment procedure etc.

I'm not overly invested, just sad for her.

There is something extremely fishy about the fact that ‘no one will fix me let me drive down to London from Telford’ she needs the implants out but she’s already on 4 waiting lists for ent and max fax now. She had iv antibiotics for 24 hours and when she was told they wouldn’t operate until the infection is at least cleared up marginally she discharges herself.

Lunde · 11/10/2025 14:52

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 11/10/2025 14:44

I think she's only being offered antibiotics AFAIK.

Often surgery is not advised while there is an active infection as it will just spread it - often it needs to be brought under control with antibiotics

I had a massive tooth abscess when I was 16 - but for the first few weeks they just drilled a hole through the tooth into the root to drain the infection and had me take antibiotics - they would not do more while the infection was active

Allthesnowallthetime · 11/10/2025 14:53

According to news reports, she has been admitted to hospital 8 times, I think NHS, so it can't really be said that the NHS isn't helping her. She is in an awful situation but I wonder if there's a limit to what can actually be done to help.

i can’t even get an ordinary dentist appointment with an NHS dentist.

Last year I had toothache and my dentist wouldn’t give me any appointment at all. They didn’t have any actual dentists left I don’t think. The pain was excruciating, 101 sent me to a dental hospital which was a sit and wait service thirty miles. Away. I got a root canal done there at that appointment. A week later the tooth crumpled. Still no appointments at my dentist.

Went to A&E they don’t do anything to do with teeth and they told me to go to a private dentist which I did.

Over the next year a got an implant which cost £3000. Now my children and I are patients at the private dentist.

Seeingadistance · 11/10/2025 14:55

I don’t do TikTok but this appeared on my FB feed last night for some reason. At first I actually thought the picture of her face was AI but it seems not. What has happened is horrific, but I’m sure the NHS will be treating her as best they can. Sadly, her face is always going to be a mess and I suspect she’ll always be in pain.

Her story should be a warning to others not to get needless and vanity-driven procedures, especially abroad on the cheap.

Years ago, before these kind of procedures became normalised, I knew a guy who’d had many painful surgeries on his mouth and face due to birth defects and he simply couldn’t understand why people with perfectly normal faces would choose surgery and angered by those who complained when it didn’t give the results they wanted.

Tiswa · 11/10/2025 14:55

So as far as I can see she had veneers for years one fell off and she stuck it back on with glue then went back to Turkey where somehow she was convinced her gums weren’t strong enough and she needed some frankly awful sounding surgery

MonetsLilac · 11/10/2025 14:55

So; she is getting NHS care. She is not being left to live in pain. However, it's obviously far more complicated than the tiktok story maintains.
Is she fundraising, perchance?

I think she is, yes, through the well known platform beginning with G.
