This poor woman. - why won't the NHS help her?

I have to say, she is partly to blame for getting her implants from Turkey, but to be left in absolutely awful pain for months, and with no treatment in sight, it's a travesty in this modern world that this poor woman has to suffer as she is clearly in the worst pain and her physical and mental health must be at rock bottom.

Her TikTok account shows her story.

TikTok profile name: djabeyance

Basically, she's got a dreadful infection in her sinuses from the botched implants, which have led to necrosis and her nose is literally rotting away with a huge hole which is where her nostrils were (are?!)

Sorry to post such a sensitive topic, please be aware that it's quite distressing to see her nose.

I understand that the NHS and surgeons will not treat patients who've had any cosmetic surgery from abroad, due to litigation and the risk of any further complications, but it's madness to think this woman is left to suffer.

I’ve just read the bbc story.
The NHS have and will continue to deal with pain and infection, and she is on prescription drugs (which are subsidised) but they won’t do a corrective cosmetic procedure.
Quite right.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 11/10/2025 18:50

She says herself that she’s had over 350 medical appointments. On what planet is that the NHS not helping her?

Agree with this. It’s abhorrent to me that there is this sentiment of some being more ‘worthy’ than treatment than others. It shouldn’t be a race to the bottom for everyone’s health and wellbeing! Of course she should have treatment. By this logic we should all stop holidays, drinking alcohol, smoking, buying UPF food, vaping; and have mandatory 2hrs exercise a week for every single adult. Not possible obviously.
Everyone should be treated in the same way with the same access to NHS services.

She’s being treated exactly the same as everyone else though. She’s had treatment on the NHS for infections. What they won’t do if give her a new set of implants or perform high risk reconstructive surgery on somebody who has repeatedly failed to follow medical advice or instruction (not just to not get it done in the first place but also not taking full courses of antibiotics, self discharging etc). Same as if you lost a tooth tomorrow the NHS wouldn’t provide a cosmetic implant. Or if you damaged your septum through chronic cocaine use the NHS almost certainly wouldn’t reconstruct it if the only issue was cosmetic. Or if you were a drinker and needed a new liver and kept drinking you wouldn’t be put on the list.

If the NHS was going to start doing cosmetic dentistry I would personally prefer that H&N cancer patients, cleft palate patients or women who’s teeth had been damaged by vomiting due to hyperemesis or patients with anorexia nervosa were prioritised.

All that’s happened is she hasn’t had the treatment she wants. As for any of us.

This really. Following sepsis (not due to any unwise cosmetic procedure) I've got what is probably permanent severe discolouration and swelling of a limb. If there was any procedure that could cure that (there probably isn't) I wouldn't be expecting the NHS to undertake it. I'm glad to be alive and able to walk and it's thanks to the bag after bag of heavy duty antibiotics they pumped in for days.

This woman appears to take no responsibility for the choices she's made and now wants someone to wave a magic wand and restore her to how she thinks she should look. It may not even be medically possible.

KiwiFall · 11/10/2025 19:44

I suspect this isn’t black and white and either the doctors on the NHS are trying to help but they have their limitations of what medically can be done (or they have to wait for the infection to finish before they can move onto the next step) or she isn’t helping herself with what they are suggesting (ie not turning up for appointments etc). It may also be she thinks she can get more publicity and/or money by saying the NHS won’t help.

This isn’t the first time this lady’s ‘story’ has been posted on MN. She’s not giving the full story in her TikTok’s. She doesn’t just want the NHS to treat her infections, she wants them to provide a whole set of new implants for free.

I did not know that at all. How can she rationalize the NHS "fixing" Turkey dentists mistakes? It's galling if she feels the NHS should give her 45K+ teeth for free. I am sure just treating the mess-up/infection has cost the NHS thousands and thousands.

She is also saying, "show me proof that I've used drugs". "Me thinks the lady doth protest too much."

Dentists in the UK won't fix a dental operation from another country, and I don't blame them. They start treatment and then if another complication occurs, they are on the hook for that.

Her latest tiktok has her looking better than the big hole in the middle of her face.

LooseCanyon · 11/10/2025 20:42

Just thinking about this. It's extraordinary that the NHS won't give a person dental implants, but will give a man hormones and invert his penis because he feels like a woman 🤔

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 11/10/2025 14:38

I agree that she made a poor decision to go abroad, but if her face is practically rotting away, isn't that a good enough reason to treat her? What about if it reaches her brain, eyes etc?

Well she took a risk, why should the NHS provide cosmetic treatment to idiots like her?

PinkyFlamingo · 11/10/2025 20:55

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 11/10/2025 14:52

I'm not overly invested, just sad for her.

But you keep saying you dont know details or aren't sure? Odd

I know some details like the fact she needed the implants after her veneers expired. Also that she needed a bone graft and sinus lift as her mouth wasn't strong enough. And that she didn't go back to get the rest fitted after 5 months.

I do wonder if she hadn't fully researched the clinic before though.

Savethechocolatecake · 11/10/2025 21:16

Nah. Some thing isn't adding up here. The NHS secondary care centres in the dental hospitals will absolutely do this kind of thing. They'll fix the initial emergency and then you will be put on a 3 year wait list to assess if you can be treated. What they will do will depend on locality and funding. I haven't read it but if she truly has jaw necrosis there is a secondary driving factor. Immuno suppression, bisphosphonate use. And cocaine necrosis.

It sounds like she doesn't follow aftercare and medication advice - if the Turkish dentist deemed there wasn't enough bone to fit implants - hence the sinus lift - perhaps there is just too much damage to ever have implants again. Probably not what she wants to hear though.

I'm not sure where the "veneers have a time limit" stuff comes from. I actually have veneers that are older than she is - from 1982. My dentist checks them annually.

Pedallleur · 11/10/2025 22:16

If Katie Price was demanding NHS treatment to correct/treat her cosmetic procedures people would be up in arms. This is no different imo. But the NHS doesn't do implants AFAIK

Threeminutestilllightsout · 11/10/2025 22:42

She says she has necrotising fasciiitis. Isnt this the kind of thing that spreads very rapidly in the first place and wouldnt she be critically ill in hospital with it? Would she even have a nose left? Somehow posing for endless tiktok videos doesnt quite fit.

Correct
The treatment necrosis fasciitis is swift you cut it out. Necrotising fasciitis is not a virus it’s a fast moving blood-borne infection it spreads really quickly and the tissue damage has the most god-awful putrid distinctive smell

She doesn’t have it . She’s had the swabs done time and time again and each time it’s negative. It’s a staph infection and they give her antibiotics. She needs to stop doing so many drugs and her nose wouldn’t be falling apart. Hopefully the dentist In London she sees will agree to take the fake teeth out and then she can recover and get the dentures she doesn’t want.

Notthatgameagain · 12/10/2025 06:33

I would say the NHS should provide a level of care for the infection etc so that she is not sick but then any cosmetic procedure she needs due to the surgery she will have to go private and pay for it. The NHS should still treat her though. If she was happy to pay for the teeth then she will have to pay for the issues too. I'm sorry but how stupid do you have to be to get surgery done abroad. There are horror stories everywhere and she was advised against it !

Jauntyangles · 12/10/2025 07:27

Spoiler alert - they are. They’re just not giving her a) what she wants and b) what she feels entitled to.
she’s used up hundreds of appointments, been given antibiotics she hasn’t taken as well as medical advice she’s ignored.
The Tik Toks are just epic tantrums and/or attempts to monetise people’s willingness to fund her continued poor choices.

When I had my implant done, I had to go to the dentist so many times. I picked one an hour away because of its reputation and sometimes I was there every week and other times once a month. Then there was a period when I didn’t have to go for a few months but overall I probably went fifteen times in the year. I had to factor in the travel and the time I would not be able to work when I was deciding where to have the implant.

ChocHotolate · 12/10/2025 16:15

It’s another case of “my health is your (NHS’) responsibility.
