This poor woman. - why won't the NHS help her?

I have to say, she is partly to blame for getting her implants from Turkey, but to be left in absolutely awful pain for months, and with no treatment in sight, it's a travesty in this modern world that this poor woman has to suffer as she is clearly in the worst pain and her physical and mental health must be at rock bottom.

Her TikTok account shows her story.

TikTok profile name: djabeyance

Basically, she's got a dreadful infection in her sinuses from the botched implants, which have led to necrosis and her nose is literally rotting away with a huge hole which is where her nostrils were (are?!)

Sorry to post such a sensitive topic, please be aware that it's quite distressing to see her nose.

I understand that the NHS and surgeons will not treat patients who've had any cosmetic surgery from abroad, due to litigation and the risk of any further complications, but it's madness to think this woman is left to suffer.

I agree @ForeverDelayedEpiphany I think you'd have to have a heart of stone to not feel sorry for this woman. Yes yes she shouldn't have gone to Turkey for tooth implants, but she did, and I think it's up to the NHS to help her.

They wouldn't refuse to help someone who had broken both legs ski-ing would they? Or someone who had broken their back, or spine absailing or doing a parachute jump (that went wrong?!) So why should she be any different? Her own actions have caused this yes, but then again, anyone who does any high risk sport and gets injured, has got injured by their own actions too!

I hope her GoFundMe page gets the amount she needs, and she gets rid of the infection, and gets herself fixed. Poor woman. Sad

Nobody is eligible dental implants on the NHS. Even if you are an NHS patient with an NHS dentist and you lost your teeth or had them removed due to tooth decay or other medical reasons such as cancer treatment which can ruin the patient's teeth and gums, the most you would be offered would be NHS dentures.

It's utterly ridiculous that this woman is threatening not to leave hospital until she is provided with a full set of implants on the NHS.

Is she taking up a bed and posting tiktoks from it as well? 😲

Agree with this. It’s abhorrent to me that there is this sentiment of some being more ‘worthy’ than treatment than others. It shouldn’t be a race to the bottom for everyone’s health and wellbeing! Of course she should have treatment. By this logic we should all stop holidays, drinking alcohol, smoking, buying UPF food, vaping; and have mandatory 2hrs exercise a week for every single adult. Not possible obviously.
Everyone should be treated in the same way with the same access to NHS services.

She IS having treatment... numerous courses of antibiotics.

What the NHS is not doing is funding cosmetic surgery for her and why should they?

She was medically advised not to go to Turkey to have the treatment but she chose to ignore it and went ahead regardless and now she's suffering the consequences of her choice, a choice she made for the sake of vanity.

If she wants her implants replaced then it's up to her to self-fund.

This is just dumb though as it's posting a story that half of people can't access with only half facts. You don't even know all the facts. How are we supposed to form an opinion?

No, I am not as naive as you say I am.

I just feel sympathetic towards those who are struggling with medical issues as I know how hard it can be.

I look forward to your posts berating the NHS for not treating non self-inflicted pain

I'm not anti-NHS, in spite of the opinions on here. The NHS saved my life being born prematurely, yet my life was irreversibly changed by an off label antipsychotic. So I do have mixed feelings.

There’s a big difference between someone who is addicted to nicotine or alcohol and struggling to cut down and someone actively going against their dentist’s advice on a particular issue!

But as has been pointed out, she HAS been getting treatment on the NHS, just not the full reconstruction she wants.

Not really, no one's addicted the first time, you have to keep making poor choices over and over to get addicted - she made just one stupid decision. Also everyone knows that smoking and drinking are addictive and that what they are doing goes against health advice (no one becomes an addict on 14 units a week) - but they still keep doing it over and over and over again! Most people get Turkey teeth without an issue and she obviously thought she'd be the same.

I can understand why they won't reconstruct her septum as it's cosmetic (although I'd argue the impact on MH of not having one should be enough for them to do it) but to not remove the implant that is causing her constant pain and infections is pretty sad - but maybe it's just too risky. I still feel sorry for her though because she's paid very dearly for her one silly decision.

I think the nhs should help her . She’s a taxpayer I assume ? Where do you draw the line otherwise ? If someone buys a £3k car or motorbike then crashes it , if someone goes on a £3k skiing holiday and has an injury needing nhs treatment on return , if someone spends £3k on drink and drugs and needs medical help due to consequences of that ? I could go on and on. She doesn’t necessarily need nhs reconstruction afterwards but surely they should at least get those implants out for her and treat the infection for safety reasons.

Edited

Indeed, soon rack up 3k on fags with the prices these days, or junk food. What is a self inflicted illness?

Google her name?

TheGreatWesternShrew · 11/10/2025 18:02

It’s not true that the NHS won’t treat people who have had surgery abroad. If implants etc become dangerous then the NHS will do what they have to do to remove the threat such as taking out implants or treating infections.

What they will not do is replace the implants or provide cosmetic correction without medical need.

LooseCanyon · 11/10/2025 18:02
  • Her nose has collapsed because she does cocaine
  • She was told by the NHS not to get the teeth implants done
  • She got it done anyway
  • She chose a cheap option in a foreign country
  • She won't follow her NHS treatment properly
  • She is being unreliable (kind interpretation) about what treatment she has had, for what condition

So, no, I don't think we should be paying for corrective treatment for an operation the NHS doesn't even provide.

Stupid woman.

A lot of people would be dead if the NHS refused treatment on the grounds of stupidity.

From the information we have it seems to me as if there is no way she could have the implants re-done/replaced it sounds like the damage is far too extensive.

It seems there needs to be a lot of invasive facial surgery and it sounds like the best that can be hoped for is she may be able to have dentures when that is done.

What can be done about her nose I have no idea, again probably extensive plastic surgery/reconstruction.

The NHS is refusing to give her teeth implants because the NHS does not provide teeth implants

BerryTwister · 11/10/2025 18:04

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 11/10/2025 15:03

Of course not. I never suggested it would be necessary for the NHS to cancel necessary surgery for the patients who are in genuine greater need.

@ForeverDelayedEpiphany but you’re implying that she needs rapid treatment as her nose is dissolving. I had to find £4000 for my son to have his tonsils out as he could barely swallow his saliva, and the NHS waiting list was over 2 years. Why should this woman get speedy treatment for something that she created herself?

FriedGreenCourgettes · 11/10/2025 18:09

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 11/10/2025 14:45

Of course, but surely there's a duty of care to get the best treatment and help a patient who's clearly in a lot of pain?

There's also the Doctors' rule of "Primum non nocere - "first do no harm".
If any treatment will cause more problems then not treating her then that's what will happen (or in this case not happen)

I’ve just watched some of her videos, and either she doesn’t understand what she’s being told or she’s an unreliable narrator.

There’s a series of videos of her slating the NHS because they won’t diagnose necrotising fasciitis, when from my limited knowledge and all of the comments it’s clear she doesn’t have this. She rants for a while that they keep telling her she has a staff infection but won’t tell her what type of bacterial infection it is - surely it’s staphylococcus - which is shown on her own screenshots, so I’m not sure what the doctor could have said to pacify her on that.

Also I don’t know what the appropriate medical treatment is, but on the basis you can’t just amputate someone’s face, I’m not sure that there is a solution the NHS could give her? They are treating her, but she’s also saying she’s refusing to leave hospital until her face is repaired, despite repeatedly being told that repairs are cosmetic and so won’t be done on the NHS.

So I think she is being treated, but she doesn’t understand what’s wrong with her, the underlying infection isn’t shifting (but given the numerous posts she’s made about stopping taking all of the medicine she’s been prescribed, including antibiotics there’s at least a notable chance that she has contributed to the antibiotic resistance of the infection) and there’s only limited treatment plans - none of which are to rebuild her face and give her new teeth.

She also keeps stating her body is antibiotic resistant, and again a bit of research indicates that’s highly unlikely.

Why is she not taking treatment ?

I have to disagree that her nostrils having been eaten away is a cosmetic issue her face does need rebuilt to function normally

She's a fuckwit. I think we've established that.

MargaretThursday · 11/10/2025 18:11

I think what people need to realise about these sorts of stories is you have one side, which is trying to tug at your heartstrings. The doctors from the NHS, or even the ones from abroad will not be able to give their side.

I have a certain knowledge about a particular condition and I have seen this misrepresented as "the NHS won't..." on many occasions including on the BBC. I know, from experience of many years, that what they're asking for is not appropriate, and just because they can find a private doctor to do it at a vast expense doesn't mean that it's the right thing to do.

I dunno, presumably one of her hundreds of videos go into it - I just saw she’d said it on one of her captions.

I would like an insurance company to set up a policy you could (or be mandated to) buy before embarking on such surgery that covered the cost of private treatment for any issues arising. It would never work though as the clinics would happily proceed without them and the clients wouldn't spend the ££.

I doubt the insurance companies would agree to underwrite such a policy - or if they did the premiums would be sky-high. Insurance only works if on average across the population the cost of claims made is less than the total pot of premiums paid for that activity. It would only be workable if it was mandatory and if there was some way of the insurance companies vetting the clinics for hygiene and reputation, and only the most expensive clinics would qualify so people like this woman would still go and use an unregistered and uninsured clinic because it would be cheaper.

Stravaig · 11/10/2025 18:18

I know it goes against the spirit of a health service which provides the care that it is needed, whether lots for some and none for others, yet when I hear gripes like this I so wish someone would leak just how much their treatment has cost the NHS i.e. all of us thus far.

RealPerson · 11/10/2025 18:30

No-one can tell you the answer to that question.

It's up to you to read the contract and if you have any doubts don't sign.
