I heard this on the radio earlier and honestly gasped at this terrible ill fortune.

Hard to know what to think. But police chasing teenagers doesn’t always end well.

It’s so hard to keep one’s children safe as young adults.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 04/10/2025 09:51

Oh wow 🥺😟

His poor family. What a tragic few years for them all.

DancingLions · 04/10/2025 09:53

I really feel for his poor family. They’d only just got him home again. I cannot begin to imagine what they’re going through. Its so sad.

Soonenough · 04/10/2025 09:55

Foolish young men will be risk takers. I feel horrible for his family.

Kayla83 · 04/10/2025 09:58

I feel for his family, what a tragic end to what should have been the start of his adult life.

Everythinghascrumbled · 04/10/2025 09:59

Why does it make you angry about the mother who reported him for something unrelated? She wasn’t driving the car ? This likely would have happened anyway ?

NewYorkSummer · 04/10/2025 09:59

How truly awful for his family.

I agree with the poster upthread, it’s so hard to keep your kids safe and you never know who they’re getting in a car with.

I agree. It’s very sad .

BlondeFool · 04/10/2025 10:00

Absolutely tragic. His poor parents.

Hysterectomynext · 04/10/2025 10:01

I read this this morning. So desperately sad for the poor boy and his family. And it must be difficult for the girlfriend at the centre of the trouble. They are just children really and she may feel terrible about it already.

TheRavenKingsDaughter · 04/10/2025 10:04

Well, determinism is maybe a different topic …

One would think that an experience such as he had in Dubai would make someone very risk averse and unwilling to leave the house. But perhaps his friends have been excited to have him back, and keen to help him enjoy life.

Or perhaps the police just didn’t like the look of his and the driver’s faces …

He was the passenger. The driver survived

TheRavenKingsDaughter · 04/10/2025 10:10

Maybe at least read the news article before maligning this boy’s character, @PersephonePomegranate.

(Frankly, I would ask MNHQ to delete your post.)

Wow! I think you have some (un)conscious biases that need addressing.

I could imagine the opposite - you spend a year unfairly jailed, you come home angry at the world and probably feeling a lot of doors have closed on you. So you become reckless and wild. Especially as a teenaged boy.

It's so sad because with time he could well have matured, settled, gone on to live a life.

Jesus - at least read the article before sounding so stupid. 🙄

WolfingtonBear · 04/10/2025 10:25

Dreadfully sad, his poor family, but completely unrelated to the issues in Dubai imvho.

He was the passenger, NOT the driver!
