I can't believe some of the comments on here, heartless, full of conjecture and judgement. A very young man is dead, his family will be devastated and will never be the same again yet all some posters can do is post negative speculation. I read this news when I woke up and all I felt was shock and sympathy.

FutureMarchionessOfVidal · 04/10/2025 10:29

Absolutely awful. Such a beautiful young man and so much tragedy. Terrible. I hate to think what his family are suffering.

Also I hope that very serious questions will be added about why the car was pursued in the first place & the potential role of racial profiling in that decision - see in particular recent stories about Charing Cross.

And as for PP who seemingly think the penalty for having an irresponsible friend should be death- well, words fail me.

Wow! I think you have some (un)conscious biases that need addressing.

I couldn’t agree more 😢 though I think this poster is very conscious about what s/he wrote 😡

Poor young man and his devastated family 💐

TheRavenKingsDaughter · 04/10/2025 10:29

No … It’s surely impossible to see the two events as being unrelated.

Every single experience we have - particularly a singular one - inevitably influences the rest of our lives, for good or ill.

MyAcornWood · 04/10/2025 10:31

Bloody sad for his parents. Regardless of what he was or wasn’t up to, or indeed what his friends or associates were or weren’t up to, his parents, wider family and friends will be heartbroken.

dunroamingfornow · 04/10/2025 10:32

Having seen panorama sadly I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable stopping for the police now and I say that as middle aged woman. We have no idea what really went on. The advice many women were given after Sarah Everard was killed was to drive to the nearest police station. Can’t imagine teenagers feel any safer with the police either

Cherrycola4 · 04/10/2025 10:32

So sad.

The amount of laughing reaction emojis to this news on Facebook is sickening.

Zov · 04/10/2025 10:32

Not gonna lie, that made my heart sink reading that. As soon as I clicked on this thread and saw his face I recognised him. What a dreadful thing to happen. How sad. Only 19 too. Sad R.I.P. ❤

As a pp said, his family have been through so much. 😢

That's horrific. WTF is wrong with people? Sad

Jesus there are increasing numbers of absolute bottom-feeding bastards posting on Mumsnet. It's really becoming an unpleasant place to be.

You just couldn't make it up could you? I can't get my head round it. Confused

TheCatsTongue · 04/10/2025 10:36

I will reserve judgement until we find out the reason why the car he was a passenger in was blue-lighted by police and why it failed to stop.

He was a passenger.

by all accounts prior to spending time in jail he was a studious, law abiding young man in a good track.

if he was mixed up in something untoward (and who knows why the police were chasing the car) then there’s a strong chance that was a result of the traumatic experience of being jailed for a consensual relationship

WolfingtonBear · 04/10/2025 10:36

It is not biased or racist to wonder why a young man would repeatedly put himself in risky situations. They are completely normal thought processes..

It does not detract from the sadness of the loss of a young life, and how regrettable his death is.

soupyspoon · 04/10/2025 10:36

BlondeFool · 04/10/2025 10:07

He was the passenger!!!!!!

The point is the same though, 17 years old, out at 1am in a car being driven by someone who is being pursued by police.

Definitely. There’s another thread about with posting similar views. Assumptions based on skin colour so depressing, unoriginal and never ending ☹️

God is that really what they are doing? Wow. I wish I’d never watched the film Final Destination as now whenever I read these stories of layers of misfortune that can happen to individuals or families it just freaks me out. Just when he extracted himself from one awful situation he falls straight into a worse one. The poor family.

And you sound like a nice empathic, nonjudgmental person… 🙄🙄🙄

WilfredsPies · 04/10/2025 10:39

His poor family. I can’t even begin to imagine how they must be feeling right now, having got him back to the UK and thinking that was all behind him, and then this happens. What a bloody awful situation.

To be fair at 17 I would have been out at 1am driving in London pretty regularly. Obviously I would have pulled over for the police but then the driver might have had a myriad of reasons for not wanting to do that.

@soupyspoonHe was 19. And the passenger. You have NO idea what went on.
