What age did you all get engaged, married, have kids and buy your first house etc?!

Just wondering really, what age you did all these things?

Also is there expectations in life to do these things?

People are more open minded now so I wouldn’t say there are set ages for each but there are still general societal expectations that you will do those things.

I was engaged at 19, bought a house at 21, married at 27, no babies yet.

Kids at 25&26

House... lived in Married Quarters until I was 35. But we did have a BTL before then. Will pay off mortgage at at 41.

We knew we were young for the milestones (except house) but we met young and it just fitted in with careers.

I got engaged aged 18,
married aged 20,

kids at 25 and 29,
Bought first house aged 20.

Met Husband 18 , engaged 19 ,
first house 20 , married 21, first DC 32 , second DC 33.

Married 22. House 28. Kids 34.

Met DH at 23 and moved in together renting the same year, engaged at 26, married and bought house at 28, first child 29, second and last child at 32.

Married 22, bought house 26, had child aged 28

Never, never, late 20s, probably never. I’m pushing 50.

Engaged 22, first house (flat) 22, married 23, first child 23. Divorced 39, married 45 ( didn't bother to get engaged)

First house at 21. First baby at 22. Engaged at 22. Married at 23.

Now been married for 27 years & have two more DCs.

What do you mean people don’t get engaged? If they are planning a wedding, they are engaged. There doesn’t need to be a big proposal - DH and I just decided to get married, there wasn’t a proposal. But once we decided that, we were engaged. That’s the definition of engaged!

I got engaged in 2020, was engaged for 3 and a half year.

Engaged means deciding to marry. You can't get married without actually being engaged first.

engaged at 28, bought our first house at 29, married at 30 and Kids at 34 (waited a while on that one!!). I’m 39. I dont think “expectations” for these milestones are as strong as they were. Saying that, once we were married my MIL constantly asked about babies. It got tiresome.

Third house at 34.
Remarried at 35.

Second child at 36.
Widowed at 48.
Fourth house at 61.
Now 65. No more houses or relationships. I'm done.

I don't understand the poster who says no-one gets engaged these days. How else do you end up married? Getting engaged (for me, anyway) was the moment when dh and I agreed to marry.
