Why was it mostly men on the march?

noblegiraffe · 14/09/2025 09:48

I've seen quite a few photos of the march yesterday, and they pretty much all look like the one below. Vast majority men. Why is that? Why is Robinson's patriot messaging and call-to-action landing mostly with men and not women?

Voting by sex wasn't massively different in the last general election - men were certainly more likely to vote Reform, but not by a huge amount, so generally politically we're not that different.

Why was it mostly men on the march?

And loads of women on the counter demo too.

The right had been silenced long enough and they wanted to claim their voice back. The left had been exercising their free speech and harping on about fascist, nazis and racists at every opportunity and held their proverbial hands over the mouth of the right. This is the end of it.
If you don’t like it, tough luck.

OK, at the moment you think tomorrow belongs to you but I'll say again-over 400K at the Countryside Alliance march centred on the ban on hunting with dogs in 2002. Probably up to 150K for SYL yesterday.

Because it’s just an excuse for thuggish men to behave exactly like that. Wives/girlfriends will remain where they’ve been told to- at home.

Or they’re too embarrassed to be seen in public with these twats.

Considering how many there were it was extremely calm and pleasant and yes I went as a female and almost 1/3 were female there.
Tommy had repeatedly stated way beforehand no masks, no loutish behaviour and the police en route did not wear helmets or riot gear, so I assume it was at the beginning for the press. Notting Hill had 423 arrests and two stabbings this year, but hey get your knickers in a twist at this years demo.
Oh and check out the aerial video footage and you may realise that the MSM also lied about the actual true figures.
Finally it’s easy to use these sort of things as a divider of the population and a certain element of snobbish disdain but our politicians do not care for us, the working classes are being metaphorically kicked all the time, but the middle classes are now too from the elites.

The way I see it there has always been the 5% "send them back" nasty racists and there has always been the 5% hug a hoodie - an asylum seeker is just a friend you haven't met yet - but "no they can't live in my spare room as we've no idea who they are".

Then we have the 90% that just want to live and let live in peace. That recognise that the amount of shitty places in the world make open borders impossible, they recognise that cultural differences can cause conflict but also recognise that Britain has benefited from the skills and hard work of immigrants and that we have obligations in terms of making our fair contribution to asylum on a world scale.

Many of the 90% that never used to give more than a passing thought to immigration are fed up with the scale of immigration in recent years, the lack of housing, the fact their kids struggle to get a job (either when they are at school/uni or after) the fact that the "asylum seekers" are largely a self selecting group of fit young men that jump on a boat over the channel to jump the queue rather than subject to any selection.

The 5% of extreme views on either side shut down any nuance in debate.

In my opinion the lack of representation of the 90% at the rally - particularly the women is because they don't trust the behaviour of the 5%s (on either side) not to turn violent or extreme- and yes they likely feel that Tommy Robinson is in the 5% rather than representing them and their 90% views so might not want to be viewed as associated with him and the 5% ers.

Almost 1/3 were not female. Ffs the entire event was filmed, anyone with eyes can see it was nowhere near one third women.
Notting Hill is 10 times the size and final arrest numbers for this march haven't been released yet. Don't be too smug too soon.

Underneath the apparently invisible 900,000 the mainstream media and police couldn't see?

The three women I can see in that photo all look utterly miserable. Probably been dragged along to the fascist field trip by their awful husbands.

I've not read any reports of 'unpalatable behaviour' from counter protesters. Can you provide a link please?

Did people expect the Robinson march to be vicious? I thought he'd called for peaceful protest?

The arrests occurred at the clash between both sides. It’s not clear who was arrested from each group, but evidently both sides were facing off against each other. And of course the protest was always going to attract elements of trouble, although 25 arrests out of 110k wasn’t as high as I expected. BTW, I’m no supporter of Robinson, but I follow with interest as I’m anti immigration.

How had they been silenced? Who has been stopping anyone from speaking? How had this been enforced?

The pp has already stated how, who and why. It's entirely disingenuous to do your faux naivety act. Sometimes in life, you have to concede that others have a different view and like it or not, that's democracy for you. Fascism on the other hand....

I was on the counter demo and we had blokes yelling and threatening to punch us in the face because apparently we’re fucking cunts. Were you proud of that?
I’ve got friends, Londoners born and bred, who were frightened to go out yesterday because of the colour of their skin. Were you proud of that too?
I despair.

Do get a grip.

A white British person calling fellow white Britons red faced gammons is not racism, however you want to spin it. It's not an expression I like or would use but it is an insult, not the nightmare caused to millions of people by actual, real racism.

I agree with all you say but on a point of order ( and I correct this largely because of the way certain groups present the data) the lowest achieving group is not the white working class ( and FSM meals should not be used as a proxy entirely for class) . When you separate by sex, white FSM boys are still underperformed by Black Caribbean boys on FSM ( don't get me started on the statistical gymnastics of the Sewell Report that tried to alter this data) and by a long way by GRT children.

ETA , and despite school achievements, further down the line white men of all social groups earn more.

Edited

@Piggywaspushed I know the statistics can be manipulated and don’t to argue with you , but this how it has been presented at the school training days have been attending. Black Caribbean FSM boys used to be the lowest achieving group, but now apparently the white FSM boys have replaced them.

I agree that on the whole white men over earn any other group, my point was that some of those underachieving boys then turn into frustrated, angry men, who are likely cause trouble.

What does Charles Kirk have to do with this protest though?

He stood for freedom of speech and was assassinated on Wednesday so it was very appropriate that he was mentioned.

I'm not sure it's 5% on the Tommy Robinson firm. At the right wing riots last year 30% of those detained by police were already known to them for domestic violence.

To insult/slur based on skin colour is racist. Whatever academic definition you prefer to use to try to justify it doesn’t change that. You’re a racist.

And 906k in the year to June 2023 - the graph is in your link.

Quote
"The key reason for the housing shortage in the UK is the failure to build new houses especially those that have been taken out of social housing stock."

I would add to your quote ....to cope with the quickly inflating population - largely due to immigration.

650 social homes lost in 2023/24. How many immigrants (or people on the housing lists already would they have housed?)
1500? 2000? Let's be super generous and say 6000. There is still the small matter of where the other 900k new people will live. - and of course a further 400k odd in 2024.

Why was it mostly men on the march?

I'll leave you to ponder on your own question. It shouldn't be hard for anyone with a modicum of intelligence to determine ' how ' and ' why'. And thank you for recognising that " the right" is not a single entity too. Well done.
