Why was it mostly men on the march?

noblegiraffe · 14/09/2025 09:48

I've seen quite a few photos of the march yesterday, and they pretty much all look like the one below. Vast majority men. Why is that? Why is Robinson's patriot messaging and call-to-action landing mostly with men and not women?

Voting by sex wasn't massively different in the last general election - men were certainly more likely to vote Reform, but not by a huge amount, so generally politically we're not that different.

Why was it mostly men on the march?

I was in central London yesterday. Absolutely not a part of this ridiculous march though. I did notice that all the men on this march looked and sounded the same: overweight, white, terrible teeth, covered in tattoos, smoking, drunk, perving, vile, shouting, pissing in the street, embarrassing themselves. I was ashamed to be English yesterday.

I was in the "other march" starting in Russell square and there where much more women than men. We didn't trash stuff, attacked police officers or piss on the streets.

go figure.

I was thinking about going but I had a pile of laundry that had to be tackled and cooking too 😃
I was also a bit worried about possible erupting violence and thuggish behaviour from the woke leftie opposition, so gave it a miss. But I was there in spirit!

Parkinbus · 14/09/2025 10:13

I live in Epping where the protests have been going on all summer and the vast majority of the protesters are male. They are all apparently standing up for the rights of women and girls, though I suspect the issue of violence against women hasn't interested them in other contexts. They are mostly of a very similar age and appearance, just like in the photos above.

I went to few anti-Brexit protests after the referendum and there was no obvious male/female split between protesters. The Gaza protests seem to also have a lot of female protesters so it doesn't hold up that women are "too busy" to attend a protest.

Probably because it’s the weekend, children off school and child minding. If people live some distance away and have had to travel you can’t even leave young teens alone. Before someone dives in and say men are capable of child care, I live in the real world and my point is about child care.

DH and I were discussing the same question yesterday, he even zoomed in as much as was possible - no women. Of course some women were worried about personal safety but I’m absolutely certain that the vast majority of them were busy with childcare and other family responsibilities.
I agree with @Jamesblonde2 - some men do capable of looking after children but these men were not at the match yesterday.

I think a lot of people are generalising about the people who went.

I know a few people went, including my dad. Who are very far from that stereotype. And his opinion of the day was it was a very positive day. He didn’t see any trouble happening. He saw a few people that looked like your “general” stereotypical thug but they were ignored by the majority of people that went.

oh and my mum didn’t go but she also wasn’t behind the kitchen sink.

I suspect the men on the march would be far happier that you, a woman, were at home doing your domestic chores.

I really wanted to attend the other March. I felt it’s important to be counted as a number.
frankly, I was too scared to attend as I was concerned about it kicking off.

That would make sense if women were seriously under-represented at all weekend marches but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Yet women are seriously underrepresented in the countries they are trying to save. Honestly you couldn’t make it up, they wouldn’t even be allowed to protest in Muslim countries but yes, let’s save them all so they can treat women like shit again and deny them basic rights such as an education 🙄

Well I watched it live on YouTube and actually it was a mixed crowd, and there were women too. You are just pissed that they are standing up for their rights and not chanting what you want to hear. Typical leftist: “they disagree with me so they are fascists, racists and ugly and fat” 😫

Shedmistress · 14/09/2025 10:18

I know a black lesbian that went.

Surely if they were all 'thugs' there would have been punch up after punch up and mass arrests etc etc etc. Or where these 'thugs' just behaving well for the cameras?

Perhaps they weren't all 'thugs' after all? Maybe the mainstream media has convined you of the thuggery that never existed?

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 14/09/2025 10:18

I was there and there were many women . I made a new friend there waiting in stanford street for 3 .5 hours , we ended up walking together. Very clearly those spouting rubbish as ' facts ' were no where near the place.
It was mismanaged by the police in some respects that's why the protesters and anti protesters ended up in the same vicinity and that should never have happened. They even tried to send me over to Parliament square where there were some anti protesters. Once police officer said he was from Gloucester and no idea why I was being sent there as I refused to go because I know that " stand up to racism " would cause many of the problems. Which they did. He was just directing people to where he was told to. All in all it was very peaceful , a great atmosphere and I'd do it again.

Unless you have the breakdown men/women then this thread is pointless.

Have you got photos that suggest that it wasn't largely men on the march? Would be interested to see them if so.

People on mumsnet will hate that, they want to believe it was people getting pissed up and fighting all day. They are so angry it went well 🤣

MikesMohawk · 14/09/2025 10:20

I didn't go because I was concerned about violence from the counter-protesters. At 5 foot 1, I am also very easily lost in a crowd. However now I regret not going, as the atmosphere looked incredible and I'd have loved to have been a part of it!

Is this the best you can come up with? Pathetically weak retort.
FYI: I am currently single. Who else would tackle my laundry and cooking? 🙄

Catpiece · 14/09/2025 10:21

EchoedSilence · 14/09/2025 09:55

Probably because they are the type of men who usually go out on the piss all weekend and wanted a change from the pub.

My BIL went. He’s not on the piss all weekend. He’s a triathlete. Also my sister and two of her friends went. That’s cleared up two things

R0ckandHardPlace · 14/09/2025 10:22

They are all men of fighting age. Where are the women and children? If it was so safe why would they leave them behind?

Throughahedgebackwards · 14/09/2025 10:22

noblegiraffe · 14/09/2025 09:56

That would make sense if women were seriously under-represented at all weekend marches but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Different demographics though. Men who regard childcare as a women's job are likely to have been overrepresented at yesterday's march.

LizzyEm · 14/09/2025 10:23

It wasn't. If you watched the actual footage, and not just look at pictures from the guardian and BBC, you'd see there were plenty of women and children there too.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 14/09/2025 10:23

I seen a video this morning, some twat thought it would be a good idea to take their, what looked like a 10yr old boy, right in he thick of it.😱

Male response. He probably also believes women should not vote or work.
