Why was it mostly men on the march?

noblegiraffe · 14/09/2025 09:48

I've seen quite a few photos of the march yesterday, and they pretty much all look like the one below. Vast majority men. Why is that? Why is Robinson's patriot messaging and call-to-action landing mostly with men and not women?

Voting by sex wasn't massively different in the last general election - men were certainly more likely to vote Reform, but not by a huge amount, so generally politically we're not that different.

@StewkeyBlue nail on head - and don’t forget their gangsters molls- there were always thick underachieving yobs around the football scene when I used to go in the late 70s and early 80s - they are still of that mindset , jobs on the side, hate foreigners, love getting tanked up , love their kids and family apart from when they are busy keeping them under the thumb and making sure everyone knows whose number 1 in the house- cliche maybe but as someone originally from a mining community like this - cliche sometimes has strong elements of truth - and they are being incredibly naive too when it comes to Farage - as Del Boy would say - played like a kipper

This is why I think protest groups should each have their own day. I can't understand why the two opposing sides were allowed to be so close to each other. It just makes it harder for the police. TR could have had his march yesterday and the counter group their march next Saturday. Anyone from either group who turned up at the other's should be arrested.

Less trouble that way.

Must admit, I did think it might be asking for trouble to have both groups marching essentially to the same end point. But I'll just say that it wasn't, as far as I am aware, groups didn't leave the Stand Up to Racism march to seek out the other march to hurl abuse.

I would have loved to have been there, but with three young children it wasn't really practical. I was there in spirit. My husband and I watched the live feed and there were plenty of women and non- white people there. People standing up for British values and free speech.

I am certainly not a far-right thug, nor is my husband. I expect most people would describe us as middle class, and we have friends from different backgrounds/ religions including Islam.

However, I genuinely can't understand how some people don't have a problem with the rapidly changing culture of Britain. If you like anything about this country and it's people, you need to act now. Many of our major cities are now no-go areas for white Britons.

Most muslims in particular do not want to 'integrate' into our society/ culture. They view the west in general as sinful. Our culture is beneath them quite simply. This was confirmed to me by a close friend who is a moderate muslim and fully 'integrated'.

We recently had cause to visit Rotherham for eldest DCs sporting event. The scenes we saw there there were truly disgusting. Pakistani men in their 20s, 30's, 40's and older with young white teenage girls clearly drunk/ on drugs, being treated like pieces of meat.

Tommy Robinson (with the help of Elon Musk) has been instrumental in exposing the muslim rage gangs. Please watch his film on this and see if you still think he's the bad guy.

Yes. There are some bits of this post I find hard to believe. For example, everything after “my husband and I watched the live feed” up to and including, “Muslim rage gangs (sic)”SEEMS like complete bollocks.

@CupOTeaFather

That is not true for most Muslims. I work in school where around 30% of students are Muslims and have not seen any of them not integrating. We are multicultural school and most friendship groups seem inter faith/ inter racial. Usually “good” kids stick together and “ naughty” kids stick together regardless of religion or race. Yes, some girls wear scarves and specific clothes on non uniform days, but that does not mean they are not integrating in the society.
I wear a cross and attend a Catholic Church. Should I join CoE instead?

Academically, the worst performing group in England are now white boys eligible for free school meals, which means they are the ones most likely to end up unemployed or in low paying jobs, so I don’t think the Muslims are the problem for our society.

Just to add. Yes, Elon Musk was very vocal about the Muslim grooming gangs, but I don’t remember him being as vocal about Epstein’s grooming gang, which was ran by a white multimillionaire.

Edited

I agree with all you say but on a point of order ( and I correct this largely because of the way certain groups present the data) the lowest achieving group is not the white working class ( and FSM meals should not be used as a proxy entirely for class) . When you separate by sex, white FSM boys are still underperformed by Black Caribbean boys on FSM ( don't get me started on the statistical gymnastics of the Sewell Report that tried to alter this data) and by a long way by GRT children.

ETA , and despite school achievements, further down the line white men of all social groups earn more.

Would you be comfortable making that list if it started "overweight, black, terrible teeth.... " ? just asking.

Yes I do wonder that. The snobbery in that post is outstanding a sums up everything about the white middle class leftist hypocrites so common in Mumsnet.

Being overweight is much more common in the working classes for a variety of socio economic factors

Covered in tattoos- because having tattoos signifies what exactly- some of the nicest (and non- judgemental) people I know have a lot of tattoos. But I guess if you never mix outside your boden bedecked buddies you don’t know any different.

Bad teeth - maybe if you could actually get an nhs dentist this wouldnt sound quite so snobby - not everyone can afford a monthly dental plan

Magicpaintbrush · 14/09/2025 13:21

Testosterone. It turns them into willy waving, aggressive arseholes. This is why the majority of wars are started by men. Why the majority of dictatorships are started by men. Why the majority of violent crime is committed by men. I know it's not all men, I do know that, but I also know that when you get situations like this those involved are mostly men. They are just looking for a fight. They egg each other on. Like gorillas beating their chests in front of their mates. No critical thinking, just aggression. God forbid they behave like grown ups.

Shedmistress · 14/09/2025 13:22

It is pretty sexist to suggest that women can't feel either patriotic or be worried about Free Speech.

It is pretty racist to suggest that non white people can't feel either patriotic or be worried about Free Speech.

Whichever way you slice it, it appears the ones making the Stereotype Insults are the racist sexist ones. Weird.

Would you be so happy to say stereo types about blacks, Muslims, Jews are also based in fact?

LemonTwix · 14/09/2025 13:22

@CupOTeaFather interested to know where are all these no-go areas areas? I go to Whitechapel without a second thought. In fact there is nowhere in London that I consider no-go as a white person.

I can't speak for everyone. It's my experience of many, not all Muslims and I'm talking about adults not school children.

Yes, Elon Musk has been vocal in critising Trump for not releasing the Epstein files.

Most muslims in particular do not want to 'integrate' into our society/ culture.

So, you’re not basing this assertion on any objective evidence?

Only your own experience? So, in your own experience, how many people who’re Muslim have you spoken to? And how many of them have told you, or indicated to you, they don’t want to integrate into ‘our society/culture’?

Bearing in mind, if they’re British, it’s obviously ‘their’ society/culture?

So do I - I shop on the market and the big Sainsbury's and I often go to the Genesis cinema over towards Mile End (and walk home afterwards if it's a nice night). It's a nice, buzzy community and I've never felt uncomfortable there.

I've not been to every single place in London, but of the ones I have the only times I felt uncomfortable were in wealthy parts of west London where I felt unwelcome and out of place (and these were more to do with the events I was attending rather than the places themselves).

Are there really people who feel threatened because a tube station has signs in Urdu?

And yet it is a reality that the evidence shows that the march was very largely white and very largely male.

Why do you think that is?

60andcounting · 14/09/2025 13:30

I'm one person and I know personally around 20-25 women that went. One even took her wicker basket shopping trolley.

So depressed and sad at the hatred and division and violence spreading in the country and the world. I thought we were better. I'm so sorry for my child, having to navigate this new world, which lacks kindness and rejects differences. I have never felt so frightened and hopeless. I wonder if this is how people felt in the years before World War II, seeing fascism take hold?

Oh yep kindness and respecting differences. You can’t be so naive to think that the young men coming into this country, undocumented from theocracies who don’t value these this at all are going to be sharing these attitudes here. Maybe we are trying to protect those attributes.

When you look at the population as a whole it is very largely white still so anything representing the country is likely to be very largely white.

Maybe the men went first to make sure it was safe and the women would follow.

Yes, I posted the voting breakdown in my OP.

But Reform are not wildly more popular with men than women. But Tommy Robinson appears to be so.

Reform voters are predominantly male by a ratio of 3:2 i.e. 50% more males than females. The other defining characteristic is that Reform voters are relatively uneducated compared to Labour/Lib Dem/Green/Conservative voters. This mirrors the demographics of those who voted for Trump.
