I had a sore reaction to Mitchum YEARS ago as a young woman and have never used it since. I wonder if anyone else had issues with it from way back?

I did too. I used it for many years, but at least a decade ago I had the same reaction being talked about now, which cleared up after I stopped using it.

Mokel · 10/09/2025 21:31

DM uses this. Gave a list of the batch codes. She has one of the affected items. What happens next?

Sourworms · 10/09/2025 22:06

I was very sore too, it was like super bad razor rash, blistery, itchy rash. I blamed my razor and got new ones, even stopped shaving for a bit but finally started using a Nivea deodorant and it cleared up. 2 days ago that ran out and I used Mitchum one again and now I'm sore again! Then I saw a random post on Instagram about this. Checked the batch number...and snap! Thanks for the uncomfortable summer mitchum :(, sounds like many had worse than me!

BadAmbassador · 11/09/2025 08:47

I’ve contacted customer service anyway as I had the rash but not one of the listed batch numbers. Let’s see what they say.

ExitPursuedByABare · 11/09/2025 10:46

Mine is on the list. I’ve resorted to using the spray.

Mine too is only one armpit but it’s the side I had breast cancer so wondered if that affected it.

Are Mitcham going to replace our products?

skyeisthelimit · 12/09/2025 12:53

I have been using it and have 4 bottles as stocked up when it was on offer. I have contacted Mitchum and asked if they are going to refund or replace and offer an apology... I have photos of my burned armpits. It was so painful, I had to stop using deodorant and couldn't wear a bra for a few days. As soon as I started using it again it came back...

I have added photos if MN will allow them, as I took some to see exactly what was going on.

That looks sore @skyeisthelimit 😥
I’ve got 2 affected bottles.

MorningtonAlmondCroissant · 12/09/2025 21:40

I’m going to try Soft & Gentle roll on!

Chick981 · 13/09/2025 22:03

Has anyone actually heard anything back from Mitchum?

SoftPillow · 13/09/2025 22:11

Is it just Mitchum?

I had a random burning armpit rash earlier this summer, it was agony. I though it was irritation from a bra or vest top but it wasn’t really in the right area. I had switched to another deodorant but can’t remember the brand but it might have been Sanex.

OhNoNotSusan · 14/09/2025 06:06

oddly i have a mitchum which is not new, and not until yesterday did i feel a burning sensation.
have they recalled them from the shops?

ilovebagpuss · 14/09/2025 14:25

I went to Sainsburys today and went to get a new deo, the Mitchum stand was suspiciously bare but no notice up just hardly any product.

I bought a Sanex. Can't believe I spent all summer so sore and now my pit is ok after a week of stopping using Mitchum the poisoned batch.

My friend worked for Sainsburys. Sometimes they have communication from HQ to remove and hold, remove and destroy or remove to give to colleagues. I think Mitchum was given the remove and hold. Even before any recall notices from the brand.

Before anyone asks what items do colleagues get for remove to give to colleagues? A couple of examples include their own coffee with the wrong label. Stuff that had no best before date on the individual products.

Has anyone actually heard anything back from Mitchum?

Nope!

Goldleafcat · 15/09/2025 12:54

Tatapie · 14/09/2025 16:13

Nope!

Nor me!

I’m now wondering next steps… can we even get a refund? I got mine in Boots (at the same time I got a solid stick one too, but not started that) (allegedly not an affected batch but not sure I trust it!). At the very least we should get our money back as the product is harmful and can’t be used? But how?

Seems there was a lot of noise last week but it’s all gone quiet since. 😕

rookiemere · 15/09/2025 14:27

I filled the online form in a few days ago and have heard nothing since.
Its such a shame as I can’t see how the brand can recover from this now. Maybe if they had reacted swiftly and decisively but they just appear to be a bit overwhelmed with it all, or unbothered.

EffinMagicFairy · 15/09/2025 19:08

Nothing since we filled in on line form over a week ago, DD has 2 from affected batches, no response just means we will be boycotting buying any of their products, once our sprays have been used, will get another brand.

Icecreamhelps · 15/09/2025 19:43

Ive heard nothing I won't be buying mitchum again.

Moonlightdust · 15/09/2025 20:36

This was one of their replies on their Instagram account:

“We've heard that some of you are concerned about products other than the Mitchum 48-hour 100ml Roll-On antiperspirant and deodorant. Following a thorough investigation, we can confirm that no other product lines are affected. The issue is linked to a change in the manufacturing process for one raw material, which impacted how the Mitchum 48-hour 100ml Roll-On interacts with the skin of some users.”

It begs the question - what EXACTLY is this raw material that has caused this awful rash and chemical burns for so many people??!!!

skyeisthelimit · 16/09/2025 10:00

I haven't heard anything from Mitchum. They can't tell us not to use their product and then not refund or replace it. I have at least 4 bottles from the bad batch as I stock up when its on offer. Even then its still £2-£3 that I have paid for each one.

I will be chasing them on this. I bought them via Tesco online shopping, so will have the receipts on email.

I had a sore reaction to Mitchum YEARS ago as a young woman and have never used it since. I wonder if anyone else had issues with it from way back?

I’ve had sore itchy spotty armpits for the last couple of years, thought it was menopausal skin, still used Mitcham as I needed a stronger deodorant.
finished faulty ones, bought new Mitcham ones with no irritation but I’m left with darkened spot marks ! Looks awful x

Tamfs · 19/09/2025 19:19

I got nothing back from Mitchum at all, so that's me done with them. It's a terrible attitude they have shown to people who have had actual injuries from using their products. On the plus side my armpits are now not sore, and I have switched to Fussy which is surprisingly good and smells lovely.

Moonlightdust · 20/09/2025 01:00

Have people been successful talking to solicitors? I have 1 receipt for 1 of the 2 affected roll ons I used over the Summer but didn’t keep the bottles as I only discovered the cause after I’d binned the last one! I also don’t have photos of the rashes at their worst but have the scars unfortunately 😫

In my pursuit for answers I stumbled across this article on a skincare site speculating the cause - I wondered if it’s correct?

I also want to know if the scarring will be permanent or eventually fade? It’s been over 2 months since the time I got the rashes and it still looks awful - darkened brown patches under both arms 🥺

I’ve only just read this when my daughter sent me a BBC article. I’m not on any other social media and even on mumsnet it didn’t come up for me . Thank you for posting this. I thought I was going mad with itchy armpits and not being able to soothe pain . I have 5 powder fresh !!! Has anyone heard from Mitchum yet ?

Goldleafcat · 20/09/2025 13:38

Not heard anything from them. Seems unlikely we will. I am also done with them. Will be speaking to Boots to see if I can get a refund.
