Thank you, thank you OP!! I thought I'd just developed yet another bonkers menopause symptom!

Strangely, it was only ever one armpit. 🤔

YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt · 09/09/2025 09:33

Mitchum has always burned my armpits, going back years. Stopped using it after trying a few times.

TaggySits · 09/09/2025 09:38

Has anyone had any problems with batch numbers not listed above?

My DD had raw cracked skin which was blistering after using Mitchum roll on, but the serial number on the bottom is completely different - it's 16341.

Rivalled · 09/09/2025 09:46

Oooh thanks I’ve got these products, will check the. Batches. They didn’t exactly publicise this well…

Worth contacting them, they’re still downplaying this now so I imagine there may potentially be more issues with other batches/products.

My underarms are scarred. I had to wear sudocrem and I’d come home from work in pain and cry. For weeks! Even after I stopped using it because I suspected really quickly it was the antiperspirant. I’m so pissed off they’re still downplaying this as ‘irritation’ when many of us had fucking chemical burns.

whereismymindd · 09/09/2025 09:51

Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this? My skin has thickened and is still dry after a couple of weeks of not using it. I’m worried about other potential side effects. They’ve said a change in one of the manufacturing processes of a raw ingredient but what does that even mean?!

Goldleafcat · 09/09/2025 10:05

I’ve submitted a complaint through their form. I’ve still got red and sore patches under my arms now. Have taken some photos (they are grim but never mind!). I’m also worried about long term effects.

stardust22 · 09/09/2025 10:18

@Blobgummy this made me smile. I too told people at work about my sore armpits. I only started the job in February and this happened in March. I was in so much pain and discomfort it was constantly on my mind.

I had a sore reaction to Mitchum YEARS ago as a young woman and have never used it since. I wonder if anyone else had issues with it from way back?

I've never been able to use it without ending up with very sore pits. Mind you, anything other than the most gentle of gentle makes me sore.

TaggySits · 09/09/2025 10:23

They are certainly downplaying it, no mention on their website of any concerns and no specific form to contact them with concerns, just the generic one. Really poor response, not impressed!

Neverendingdeclutter · 09/09/2025 10:31

I've had a sore armpit on and off for the past 2 years! I've tried all sorts to make it better. 2 weeks ago after applying mitchum it was so sore I had to go and wash it off. I started using sanex sensitive in hope that it would be slightly better. Never even thought it could be the deodorant. Thought it was just me! From the minute I used sanex there was no stinging and the sore red patch has now gone. I'd been using Mitchum for years and had to apply it while trying to avoid the red sore bits on my armpit! Just looked at my mitchum roll on what I'd kept just in case and it isn't one of the batch numbers listed. I won't be going back to mitchum.

Liondoesntsleepatnight · 09/09/2025 10:36

I have discolouration, burns and sores. I wrote to them Sunday, not had a response yet. Very painful.

Omeara · 09/09/2025 10:46

Thank you for this. I took my daughter to the pharmacist as her pits were so sore.

I threw it away so can’t check the batch numbers (I bought 4) but this will be undoubtedly what caused it.

hayal · 09/09/2025 10:50

I've used Mitchum roll on for over 20 years. I too have been using a batch that has caused sores and burns on my skin.
I though it must have just been me so switched to Ineos spray 2 weeks ago and my skin is back to normal. Ineos is a really good product. Mitchum have definitely lost my custom.

Ficklebricks · 09/09/2025 10:54

I've been getting this from the shower fresh cream deodorant as well, so it's not just the roller ball kind! I noticed that's not in the list but it's definitely since I got a new batch!

Starsong82 · 09/09/2025 11:13

Thank you so much op, I've been suffering for weeks and just hadn't made the connection as I assumed it was a delightful new symptom of my eczema, just checked and sure enough the batch number on my deodorant is listed. Now I need to find a replacement, been using mitchum for years but really not impressed by their response to this so will be switching!

Earlandmrsgrey · 09/09/2025 11:26

Thank you OP. I started a new bottle just as I got my cancer diagnosis. Assumed it was either stress that was causing the issues or was another symptom of the cancer itself. I did stop using it as there was a niggling doubt as I knew I had started a new bottle and it cleared up within about 10 days.

SS1507 · 09/09/2025 11:56

I have suffered with the same as you all. Now I have the batch numbers, I will be checking tonight and will be in contact with Mitchum as still have the roll-on but haven't used it since.

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 09/09/2025 12:05

Bloody hell... the ingredients must be awful as someone on a subReddit mentioned they were stopped at airport security as the Mitchum was flagged as an explosive! 😳

I love my Mitchum unperfumed and have been using it for years. I even bulk bought when I managed to find a stash when they were out of stock everywhere.

whats everyone else moving onto, if you are changing?

Mokel · 09/09/2025 12:42

I need to send the list of batch numbers to my DM. Where can I find the list - not on a screenshot as in earlier on in the thread?

That will be the shape of the bottle not the ingredients. The scanner can’t see the ingredients list.

I moved to using the Dove cream stick but found it’s made my tops and t shirts discoloured under the arms, especially whites. I’ve been trialling using something called AKT at the moment and seems to be working well so far for me. It comes in a tube like a cream. I think the reviews are a bit hit and miss for others and it is quite expensive though.

ItIsMyName · 09/09/2025 13:18

I’ve been suffering too. I went to Superdrug for a new deodorant and out of curiosity I checked the batch number of those on the shelf and they were still one of those listed.
