I had a sore reaction to Mitchum YEARS ago as a young woman and have never used it since. I wonder if anyone else had issues with it from way back?

Yes! Tried it a couple of times, several years apart, and got soreness both times. Haven't tried it since. No other deodorant (or indeed, any skincare product) has had this effect on me before or since.

Liondoesntsleepatnight · 09/09/2025 13:32

Total under reaction, batches listed are still being sold ffs. Anyone want to share photos?

Liondoesntsleepatnight · 09/09/2025 13:35

Photos attached, armpits hairy as didn’t want to shave, normally they are smooth. Red sections v painful

does anyone know if there are any class lawsuits going ahead for this that people can join?

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 09/09/2025 13:46

Sorry for the hairy pit - it's calmed down a lot now but it was dreadful a couple of weeks ago. Really sore.🙄

I'm actually pretty angry about this. Are these chemical burns?

butterfly0404 · 09/09/2025 15:43

I've been getting reaction to the aerosol one, anyone else ?

BadAmbassador · 09/09/2025 16:52

Interesting. I’ve had the rash but don’t have one of those listed batch numbers 🤷🏻‍♀️

BadAmbassador · 09/09/2025 16:53

At some point this summer I’ve used 4 different Mitchum products including aerosol.

Same for my DD. She had a really bad rash with dry, cracked skin, but different serial number to what has been listed by Mitchum. There are definitely more batches affected than what they've owned up to.

Rivalled · 09/09/2025 18:39

And why haven’t the supermarkets etc we bought the products from issued general batch recall notices?

SS1507 · 09/09/2025 18:49

Well just checked mine with the batch number and yes, it's on there. Why have Asda, where I purchased mine from, not called for a recall? So what happens next?

Anyone had the issue with the Mitchum Clear fresh roll on? It’s not listed on their published article but I had a really bad reaction a few weeks ago. I never suffer with issues with my skin but put it down to changing fabric conditioner.

JenniferBooth · 09/09/2025 19:18

I was at the hairdressers today and this has happened to one of the stylists She used this and for two days she couldnt lift her arms.

EverardDeTroyes · 09/09/2025 19:29

I have one of the affected batches but I haven't had a problem with it. Only recently started it though. How quickly does a reaction start? Are the affected batches safe to use if I am not affected? I must admit, I feel a bit put off using it, knowing what it can do to so many people.

Chick981 · 09/09/2025 22:43

@EverardDeTroyes I’d been using mine a few times with no issues then one day I put it on and within an hour or two it was sore. Didn’t realise it was the deodorant, thought it was chafing from hot weather/ heat rash, so kept using it, two days later was in utter agony, could hardly sleep. So be very careful! I think shaving triggered mine to somehow irritate the skin. So maybe people on Instagram seem to have had similar burns to me.

Very interesting you say about it being triggered by shaving. I think mine was too. I remember shaving my armpits in the shower, then was in agony after for days. I thought it was either something to do with shaving, or a fungal infection that had spread from athlete's foot that I had.

jettisoned · 10/09/2025 09:59

Has anyone actually had a response from them yet? I can't imagine how inundated they are but I didn't even get a 'thanks we got your complaint' email.

Amiefenton · 10/09/2025 10:00

Nope I’ve had nothing and it’s been a few days now!

BoudiccaRuled · 10/09/2025 10:19

cattykinns · 09/09/2025 13:03

I moved to using the Dove cream stick but found it’s made my tops and t shirts discoloured under the arms, especially whites. I’ve been trialling using something called AKT at the moment and seems to be working well so far for me. It comes in a tube like a cream. I think the reviews are a bit hit and miss for others and it is quite expensive though.

"Natural' deodorant also gave me eczema (bicarb of soda perhaps?) so I went onto potassium alum and have never looked back. Think it's sold as Pit Rock in the UK.
Zero smell, zero staining, lasts for aaaaages. It doesn't stop the sweat, so far healthier (no build up of toxins) and is just all round brilliant.

rookiemere · 10/09/2025 10:29

I hope this means they will also resolve the formula issue as it’s not as effective as it used to be either.
I have emailed as have an impacted product. My symptoms were mild itchiness so I guess I got off lightly, but assumed it was another joyous menopause symptom so I am glad that it is not !

Tatapie · 10/09/2025 10:32

no acknowledgment from Mitchum let alone a response. Presumably they’re formulating what to do but they should be putting out a health alert / product withdrawal alert immediately! Anyone on twitter?

Namemenameme · 10/09/2025 17:51

Mine is one of the affected batches. Strangely, though only one of my armpits have been effected.

OtherS · 10/09/2025 20:05

I called them and they're apparently sending me vouchers. She was very sorry, assured me that it was a manufacturing fault and it is being dealt with. She didn't say how much the vouchers would be for, but I asked whether they'd cover the cost for replacements and she said yes. I don't think I was as bad as some though, just had a raised red welt which was a bit sore and I figured it must be a dodgy razor. Luckily, I had bought the black invisible one too which isn't listed so started using that and it cleared up immediately. I did ask whether the faulty ones had been removed from shelves and she said they're trying but there may be some left... So I think I'll be sticking the invisible one for the foreseeable. Shame, as it doesn't smell as nice as Shower or Powder Fresh.

Superhansrantowindsor · 10/09/2025 20:17

I have used this for years. Then about two months ago I developed the most insane itching. I had to wash my armpits and cover them in sudocreme. I then switched to sure. I thought I’d developed an allergic reaction. I kept the deodorant in my dresser drawer as an emergency one thinking perhaps it was my hormones causing the itch and not the deodorant - anyway seem all this online, checked batch number and it’s an affected one. I would say I used the faulty one for about three days before the problems started.
