Have you recognised anyone on TV?

Clunky title, sorry.
With everything being reality this and reality that, have you ever recognised anyone from your life, on a TV show?

Only once for me, it was on Come Dine With Me, and it was somebody I went to secondary school with.
She was exactly the same as I remembered her, a really nice and genuinely lovely personality.
I can't remember how well she did on the show.
Will have to google and see if I can rewatch it!

YouCouldHaveASteamTrain · 04/09/2025 17:45

My vets (and chemists) on Come Outside.

WinterRoad · 04/09/2025 17:47

The bloke who services my boiler was on Naked Attraction. Wasn’t taken on a date bless him, lovely bloke but I can’t look at him the same way now after watching him do the helicopter on national TV

I was at school with a BB winner (years ago when it was still event TV). Very bizarre experience, they were very much just themselves on the show and having the papers full of (wrong) opinions about them was weird.

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 04/09/2025 17:51

My mum was on the Chase (this wasn't a surprise though, obviously!). I saw a guy I went on a few dates with playing a dad on some kind of mainstream prime time TV advert- CO OP, Oven chips- can't even remember now but something in that kind of vein. He was an actor with some Indie film roles at the time we went out though so again not a huge shock to see him! My sister was interviewed on the street as part of a local news segment 😂

I once went out with a guy who was on Blind date, he didnt get picked and I wasnt surprised

bluehex · 04/09/2025 17:52

My daughter's Esperanto teacher has just been on Mastermind. He came second in the episode.
DH has seen various people he knows from Butterfly Conservation on TV.

Goldplatedhinges · 04/09/2025 18:02

A friend has been on Four in a Bed. She was absolutely fabulous, a gracious host, behaved impeccably towards her fellow contestants, I was so proud of her.😌

Goldplatedhinges · 04/09/2025 18:02

Duplicate post!

I love that show!😊

dizzydizzydizzy · 04/09/2025 18:08

Friend's son was on Masterchef yesterday evening! He was brilliant!

WhereAreMyAirpods · 04/09/2025 18:09

I recognised myself as an extra in a BBC1 drama? Does that count?

dizzydizzydizzy · 04/09/2025 18:12

A friend's daughter is going to be on Garden Rescue soon .

reptilemad1985 · 04/09/2025 18:13

friends on xfactor and my husbands evil uncle on the news and on front page newspapers

BigJanette · 04/09/2025 18:14

Yes it counts @WhereAreMyAirpods !
(what was the drama?!)

Not a person, but the property next door to us was on Location, Location, Location in the early noughties 😄
and Phil Spencer did another property show <forget the name> which featured a house in an road we've also lived on.

Someone recognised me in a crowd scene at an event I visited that was being filmed and later shown on TV (think Antiques Roadshow, that kind of thing). The camera zoomed right in on me at one point Blush.

JesseGator · 04/09/2025 18:16

A guy I used to work with has been on umpteen quizzes including Mastermind, Only Connect and Eggheads.

A dad at my son’s school was on The Chase. He’s an arrogant arse so we were delighted when the chaser beat him pretty comprehensively.

A woman I worked with was on Location. She was quite an unpleasant, divisive character but she presented as a total sweetheart on the show so it made me realise you really never can tell.

DH’s friend was a contestant on countdown. He didn’t win but he did well. It was his dream to go on the show.

DC12 and I love Masterchef!
Will have to watch last night's episode.
Hope he does well 🤞

Yes, an old friend from college was on a programme called 'Winning Streak'. I don't know what the UK equivalent is, but the programme was linked to the National Lottery. There were five competitors each week. They all won a nice sum of money, but my friend was picked to spin the wheel and won quite a large amount of money.

youalright · 04/09/2025 18:30

Someone i know was on deal or no deal and someone else i know was on come dine with me and I know a couple of people who did x factor

ginasevern · 04/09/2025 18:33

Yes, an old colleague from back in the 80's. She apparently now works for a green energy firm and she was interviewed on something like Spring Watch (one of those sort of programmes anyway). She did a tour of the plant and spoke at some length. I didn't recognise her at first.

AdayinDecember · 04/09/2025 18:36

I recognised someone on Only Connect who I was on a two day work trip with almost 30 years ago, different company, never saw him before or since that trip. It's amazing as I am almost clinically bad at recognising faces but I suppose a/ I also recognised the name and b/ I may or may not have fancied him a bit at the time.
