Ageing neck - what do you use?

Sussexswain · 20/08/2025 16:58

I recently turned 40 and from about 39 I started noticing that my neck was ageing faster than anywhere else on my body. For a year I have been using the following and see no difference

  • this works - perfect cleavage and neck serum
  • beauty pie - uber youth neck and chest serum
  • elevate collagen - for three months bow

any other products that people have found that really work?

Also I wear polo necks ALL the time in winter. Not much help in summer. 😱

neveradullmoment99 · 20/08/2025 22:30

I like gatineau defi lift neck and decolete cream. Its more topical in the sense that it tightens a bit when applied but not sure if there are active ingredients that work on improving your neck. I also hate my neck but am learning to try and live with it and not look so closely at the mirror but I am 57. Ive tried loads and loads over the years and sadly think nothing much really helps. Ive tried mostly everything suggested on this thread. I do like strivectin [ the roll on one] and am using the works, which I actually quite like.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/08/2025 22:32

Oh and I very often use a neck cream plus the gatineau over the top!

wfhwfh · 20/08/2025 22:40

I get Botox on my neck. Not for everyone but I’ve got a scraggy neck and I feel it helps. Not crazy expensive given I’m getting Botox everywhere else on my face anyway!

Neck and hands are tough to conceal ageing, I think

Glitterybee · 20/08/2025 22:47

I’m younger than you but I lost a lot of weight and my neck turned into a ‘turkey neck’ with a dangly, crepey thing that looked like a vagina. I was distraught and didn’t know what to do….

I had just purchased prescribed skincare for my face and therefore had some skincare products going spare, so I decided that I would try them first to see if it made a difference and as if by a miracle, it’s completely tightened up and smoothed out. You’d never know how it looked before! so I’ve repurchased now to use forever on my neck.

The name of it is ‘Clarins extra firming collagen moisturiser’

Teams soft focus setting help hugely for remote working

Yes! My colleague just showed me this - I set it a bit high and looked about 12 😂
For my neck I’m using This Works and it seems quite good. Prai didn’t help.

Where do they put it?

Ichangedmynameonce · 20/08/2025 23:26

@hypnovic do sadie nardinis exercises actually work? She always comes up.on my Instagram and looks too good to be true! X

Where do they put it?

On the neck bands. Basically, I have to tense my neck and it’s where I get the downward pull that I get injected. I like it - but it makes sit-ups hard at the gym (as your neck muscles are relaxed). It’s very subtle but enough for me just now

unsync · 21/08/2025 00:07

Mine's a lot better since I started HRT. I also care less about it than I used to. I tried loads of creams including the stri-vectin and red led etc which did nothing but empty my wallet.

I also have an extensive scarf collection which I started about 25 odd years ago. It just takes practice and finding which knots work for your wardrobe. Also, the silk makes you feel fabulous.

AugustSlippedAwayIntoAMomentInTime · 21/08/2025 01:30

Prai

And suncream. Every day going forward.

spoonbillstretford · 21/08/2025 01:34

I just put my face cream on my neck. It's not ageing any faster than my face at 50. It's nonsense that you need a separate cream for your neck.

No wrinkles at 65? Do you mean no lines?

Not sure what the distinction is?

I honestly don’t know why people post like this on mumsnet. If it doesn’t bother you that’s great - I’m really happy for you. Read and move on. It does really bother me - I hate it. Do you think I should be ashamed of this?

Right? They love shaming on here don’t they. Good luck with your saggy neck 😂 my Sister had a really expensive cosmetic procedure and it barely touched it. Please update the thread if you find anything decent. I just use whatever moisturiser I’m on at the moment but like you it’s starting to look a bit crepey.

Was wondering if anyone had tried trinny London! It’s always popping up on my instagram feed

Tried this and not that impressed

I think it's ok to suggest an alternative view, that we should hate ourselves less and accept ourselves more, and focus on more enjoyable things in life. It's a chat forum after all.

Bio-oil gel. Not very glam, but works. Amazing stuff.

I realised I need to exfoliate my neck a couple of times a week as otherwise it looks dry and wrinkly no matter what cream I use. I use a serum and then either boots future renew factor 50 or their menopause moisturiser

I have this problem currently! Is it the night cream you’ve used?

Sunshineandrainbows23 · 21/08/2025 11:48

@Sussexswain I had the same issue but more my decollete than my neck. Tried all sorts without success. I then saw somewhere that French women apparently take their face cream down to their bust line and their body lotion up to their jaw line. The double whammy worked a treat. I now also use a few drops of oil over the moisturisers at night. Can be any oil from olive oil from the kitchen, almond oil, or a delicious aromatherapy oil.

Good luck! :)

Sunshineandrainbows23 · 21/08/2025 11:51

PS. Going forward SPF 50 in day. I like Ultrasun as just once a day and you can apply moisturiser on top once it's dried (about 20 mins).

BrightYellowDaffodil · 21/08/2025 12:09

HRT! I’ve been a bit glum about my neck for a while - I thought it was the seatbelt pulling on my neck to start with but no. I’m mid-40s.

Started HRT about a month ago and I’ve noticed the skin around the base of my neck is not as crepey and the bit at the front looks better too.

I also take collagen powder (Wild Nutrition) but I’ve been taking that for a while so I think it’s more the hard drugs that have helped!
