Ageing neck - what do you use?

Sussexswain · 20/08/2025 16:58

I recently turned 40 and from about 39 I started noticing that my neck was ageing faster than anywhere else on my body. For a year I have been using the following and see no difference

  • this works - perfect cleavage and neck serum
  • beauty pie - uber youth neck and chest serum
  • elevate collagen - for three months bow

any other products that people have found that really work?

Trinny London has definitely made a difference for me. Have tired Prai and This Works before and seen no difference.

Sussexswain · 23/08/2025 08:43

Hi all - thanks so much for all the recommendations and advice! This has been so useful, especially around things like exfoliation that I hadn’t even thought about…. And given me a few laughs too!

i popped into my local spacenk to buy some more of my face spf - really recommend Ultra Violette Clean Screan - as I plan to be slathering bucket loads from now on, and asked someone there if they had any recommendations. I had my ds with me so couldn’t stay but she said to come back for a consultation and they could give me some testers to try so will keep you posted. She said different folks will have different experiences with products based on skin type, age, exposure damage ect hence you may get conflicting results. I will post any results if I find some kind of magic potion!

in the meantime I also bought the gold bond crepe corrector off Amazon as figured it’s cheap… and I love it! Actually already see some results! Feels great on hands as well

Exercise and diet will always beat any cream.

Incorporate strength work like dumbbell shrugs to build up your neck and upper back, and add facial movements—chin tucks are great—to keep everything supported.

And protect your skin! I avoid direct sun as much as possible and carry a UPF umbrella everywhere. (Yes, it makes me feel like a bit of a vampire, but it works.)

I’m 44, and so far, no wrinkles, no lines, and no neck issues—yet, anyway.

Great post

Weemammy21 · 23/08/2025 15:43

Face and neck exercises help but you need to be consistent. There are several books of facial exercises such as Eva Fraser or Face yoga and a lot better and cheaper than expensive creams

greengreyblue · 23/08/2025 16:31

To not have any lines past 40 is very unusual. We all get laughter lines by our eyes. Those saying no lines at all I find hard to believe.lUnless there is tweakment involved.

What is shocking in this entire thread is that the use of chemicals is the default retreat from the respectful acceptance of aging. Stay out of the sun, cover your skin, and act like grownups and look life straight in the eye.

I swear my inbox is full of the most elitest BS curatives and voodoo restorative garbage. Be adults, face father time with dignity, and hold up your turkey necks with pride and dignity.

You’re absolutely right but we all want to age well. I won’t inject or go near a knife but I will moisturise and protect and I love make up and clothes because they make me feel good.

Adding chemicals to your skin ain't protecting anything other than your ego. It's a mask, a facade, to hide your vulnerable self. It's not for you. It's a lie to keep everyone at a distance so you aren't hurt by the truth that you're getting older.

Age takes us all. Men know this and have lived it since the dawn of time. It's time women truly become equals and show us their true selves. Not the fake lips, eyelashes, makeup, Botox, pushup bras, spanx, hair dyes, eyebrow pencils and the myriad of other devious tactics to be untruthful to everyone and themselves.

I tend to try & treat my neck & upper chest area (decollitage?? sorry if that's the wrong word, I am useless with spelling) with the same products as I use on my face, eg Elizabeth Arden Prevage face scrub on it daily when in the shower, bit expensive to buy, but it lasts for ages, followed by the same moisturisers / serums etc that I use on my face - that neck area is usually so exposed to the elements all the time without benefit of any covering foundation or clothing (scarves also aren't 'my thing') - but you do have to remember to do it regularly - also agree with Prai, Bobbi Brown products, Clinique Moisture Surge or their 'overnight' face pack, and also simple olive oil can work wonders, if a bit messy - but you do have to be a bit regimented about it and just remember! If using a face pack, then also cover the neck / chesty area as well. I also find that the above all do work for me (but we are all different), but if I forget, then the 'crepe' skin can come back very quickly, but also, it does also seem to react well & quickly to the above or similar treatments. 🌹

A lot of posters have advised on the use of high factor SPF, not sure if you include that in your “use of chemicals”? This is one area where men haven’t learnt anything as skin cancer rates are much higher for men and one of the main factors is lack of use of spf.
SPF is the biggest thing anyone can do to reduce aging and of course the risk of skin cancer

Using a tens machine on a low setting on neck and jawline less than £30 and very similar to expensivevtreatments - you can also use it for pain relief which also goes hand in hand with getting older

Now this actually makes sense. Not sure if it will work but I get the idea and reasoning behind it.

I wish I didn’t chuck out my tens machine now 😂 even though my son is now 17

I would think a Tens machine would not be suitable for use on the neck.

I know you definitely aren’t supposed to use anything with an electrical current over your thyroid area (front central). Not sure about more to the sides or jaw.

greengreyblue · 24/08/2025 16:00

Well I’d avoid the main arteries for a start!

Another saggy neck/throat here but as I refuse to give up on the joy of sitting out in the sun,I shall have to live with it.

Love the sun I’m afraid. Gives me a mood boost. I use Trinny elevate and love it. Makes a difference

Enjoy the sun ( with a high spf). I found a great spf 70 in a spray from Nivea. It leaves nothing but a dewy glow.

Chanel decollate cream can be used everywhere. Tightens, smooth wrinkles, plumps and moisturizes. It is less expense for a larger jar that lasts a long time if sparingly applied. I've used a ton of products but have used chanel foam cleanser, meal norman toner or wondercide, chanel moisturizer is the best. Their serums do what the claim but are so expensive. I found the decollete cream to be the best single purchase.

Anyone used Cellexia?

HevenlyMeS · 31/08/2025 15:48

I've never heard of this, but it sounds interesting 🙏
