The lack of feelings from some posters on this thread is really sad(but also typical MN). Why come on a thread that is so obviously a thread about someone who has died and spew all your hatred for the man. Just walk on by and ignore it if you don't like him. Would you go to a funeral and spout your hatred for someone? Your views won't change a thing, the music industry is mourning the loss of someone very influential.

The man went through much more than most in his life(go and read about his childhood if you want). He was a deeply flawed man who owned up to his flaws but he was a much loved, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. His family could read this thread (not all of them are famous) and there's a time and place to go on your anti-Ozzy crusade and this isn't it.

Some people just cant help themselves, i always wonder if theyre like this in real life.

Absolutely gutted. Loved Ozzy and his music. RIP Prince of Darkness 💜🖤

I get people's anger (as an animal lover and cat owner myself) but the cat shooting sounds like something Ozzy was deeply ashamed of and he's said it was 'the final straw', when talking about his drug fuelled rages. Someone said it happened in lockdown... it happened 40+ years ago!

sualipa · 23/07/2025 07:56

As an animal rightist and supporter of PETA it sounds like he was deeply contrite for what he had done and that's good enough for me if it's good enough for them. RIP Ozzy and the 17 cats.

Black Sabbath indeed !

Keep rocking, Ozzy 🤘

Their combined net worth is over $200m. His alone was estimated at $200m. Don't feel too sorry for her. She may have loved him, and suffered for it, but she's not stupid and will be fine.

The fact he accrued that money was down to her iron management. Affairs? just groupies backstage and he was drug/alcohol fuelled in a business where the backstage antics are enouraged. I suspect he was on a long leash but she managed him (plus some other acts) and kept him out there making money and in the public eye.

RIP Ozzy.
Although frankly a miracle he lived to 76 with the lifestyle he had. Just read an article that said he gave up Acid after taking 10 tabs and going for a walk where he talked to a horse in a field for an hour. The horse told him to fuck off…

He might be in trouble if those cats are in the afterlife though...

Agreed the world's gone mad - sad for a few but I would hardly say heavy metal is a useful addition to the culture of the world and as you say a nasty piece of work.

Are you kidding me? Heavy metal has become a global phenomenon, with so many offshoots it's insane. Whether you appreciate it or not it brings people together, saves lives (mine included) and is generally a good thing.

Didn't know he beat his first wife though. That's awful. And killing a load of animals is awful too.

I have a friend who’s really into that kind of "music" mostly just noise, if you ask me. That said, I saw Motörhead’s last performance at Glastonbury with him a few years back, and I was actually quite impressed. After the PETA announcement, I’ve softened my criticisms a bit.

Sky news seemed to have elevated him to saint status last night and the female presenters were teary. Yes he was a legend but you’d think a member of the royal family had died.

RosaMoline · 23/07/2025 13:01

I’m staying quiet on the subject on his passing as I cannot abide animal abuse or cruelty in any form
Condolences to his loved ones though.

That poster wasn't referring to his own cats he killed in the 80s. During lockdown he said he kept himself sane by shooting cats and birds in his garden. He may well have been joking - but then not something you'd say if you were deeply ashamed of your past killing sprees.

This made me really miss the laughter emoji 😝. Also a shout out to @TobiasForgesContactLense for a genius username!

It will be the same when Gazza goes.

It was and he had to have rabies injections in his stomach because of it

He also beat Sharon allegedly and cheated on her fairly recently

He actually tried to kill sharon once when he was off his face on drugs.

She forgave him and took him back on the condition that he didnt take those drugs again

It was a one off.. not touring

A one off show then. My point was he was only on the stage a couple of weeks ago

All music is 'just noise' if you think about it. I've listened to songs in German, Finnish, Italian, Mongolian, Latin, and a few other languages. Can't really understand it but it sounds good and it's a good introduction to other cultures.

Hmm, agree with the message but I hate Peta, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

I know! I am aware that he has been ill for a very long time, but what a way to go eh? Performign in front of a huge crowd right up until the last few days of his life. I bet he wouldn't have chosen it any other way.

He had a great life and what and what an amazing legacy ❤️

RIP Ozzy.

The family were in Switzerland with him ‘“seeking treatment”

Cashed out on his own terms

I now read this was a complete fabrication, it's being reported that he died at home

MoonWoman69 · 23/07/2025 18:03

Absolutely gutted, grew up with his music, a real legend has gone. RIP Ozzy and thank you for the music 💔💔💔

"A real legend"

Lets not forget that he attempted to kill Sharon Osbourne by strangling her

Wonder whether it was euthanasia in the end. He seemed to be struggling a lot and had mentioned it previously. So soon after his farewell show. He did himself and fans proud, I didn’t get to be there for the live performance but watched a lot of it online. He was one of a kind!!

He was in the UK so I doubt it

Cause of death?

Parkinson's

Xmasxrackers · 23/07/2025 18:38

I honestly think he knew he didn’t have long. He must have deteriorated quickly, thankfully with enough time for his family to be with him. Whatever you may think of him, there’s not many that would raise £190m for charity in their final weeks. He bowed out in style, and a lot of us Brummies are in mourning. What makes me the most upset is thinking about Sharon and how she’ll cope without him. What a gigantic hole Ozzy has left her with. She loved him very very much
