A bat and 2 doves apparently.

The bat was already dead but the 2 doves were live. Sick man. He should’ve been locked up for a long time given his numerous offences.

defrazzled · 22/07/2025 21:31

The man, the myth, the legend. The opening line to Paranoid is one of the all time classics. Godspeed.

A legend?
He beat his first wife, was abusive to Sharon, bit the head off a dove, urinated on a sacred war memorial.
I won’t mourn the loss of the prick.

Oh do shut up,

tbf he thought it was a rubber bat and was horrified himself. I didn't know about the doves - that is horrendous!

Agreed the world's gone mad - sad for a few but I would hardly say heavy metal is a useful addition to the culture of the world and as you say a nasty piece of work.

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 22/07/2025 21:34

I swear he thought the bat was a rubber bat, then realised it wasn't.

I don't think Ozzy knew what he was doing for the best part of two decades tbh. Miracle he made it to even fifty.

localnotail · 22/07/2025 21:35

RIP Ozzy. 💔

It’s not a being a crazy animal lover to think shooting and stabbing 17 of your family’s cats * doesn’t make you a lovely man.
are you insane?

All the drugs...

Don't be a gobshite, he had been clean and sober for a good 20 years.

It was the previous 30 that did the damage. He was full on. Knew no limits for substance abuse and would go toe to toe with other acts eg Motley Crue. He would have been dead and penniless in the early 80s if Sharon hadn't been there and there is the whole story of her father and his relationship with her.

babyproblems · 22/07/2025 21:43

Oh this is sad 🩷🩷🩷 love to Sharon.. imagine if she is on mn xx

I think he’s had a bloody good life, fame, money, travel and a family - he’s really lived his best life.
Sorry to the family for the loss ❤️

Absolutely. He’s a legend. As sad as Sharon and husband children must be, they can take some solace from his incredible life.

Really? Heavy Metal is a very popular genre of music, it has spawned lots and lots of other genres. Just because it isn't to your tastes doesn't mean it hasn't added anything to the culture of the world.

SequinsandSoleros · 22/07/2025 21:46

Yes, I think given it is an RIP thread and fans are on here, some of the vitriol is ill timed, to say the least. Start your own thread, keyboard warriors.

chunkybear · 22/07/2025 21:50

What a legend - to be honest he's lived on borrowed time for a long time, all sorts of scrapes and over indulgences! But he's left the world with a lot to remember him by, bless him, and the family seemed very close so hugs to them, we lost a legend today and they lost a husband and dad 🥺 sad day but great memories ❤️💕

Aaal · 22/07/2025 21:53

Oh im gutted he was deeply flawed but deeply talented and his music (and the osbournes show) made up much of my teenage years. I’m looking forward to seeing the final bow next year.

PopeJoan2 · 22/07/2025 22:02

It is weird. The bbc newsreader making the announcement tonight tonight looks as though her and Ozzy were separated at birth.

What about the 17 pet cats he massacred?

🙄

Is that all you can respond? Genuinely why do you think he can be described as a lovely man despite his crimes? Just because he was rich and talented?

Roaminginthegloaming · 22/07/2025 22:13

I’m now watching a really good, interesting documentary on the Sky Arts channel (you can watch it at your leisure as you can download it) called

“God Bless Ozzy Osbourne”

It follows Ozzy on tour and shows from the earliest days of Black Sabbath, with anecdotes from band mates, Sharon and his kids, siblings and other rockers.

I was surprised how poverty stricken his family was when he was a child; he was one of six children and money was tight despite his dad being a hard working family man.

TheOnlyMrsW · 22/07/2025 22:14

We're a sad house tonight, so glad the Villa gig went ahead and he got to say goodbye on his own terms 💔🦇🤘

gotellsomeone · 22/07/2025 22:06

What about the 17 pet cats he massacred?

This is absolutely horrific.

faroutmagazine.co.uk/tragic-day-ozzy-osbourne-shot-17-cats/

He recalled plainly: “I was taking drugs so much I was a f***. The final straw came when I shot all our cats. We had about 17, and I went crazy and shot them all. My wife found me under the piano in a white suit, a shotgun in one hand and a knife in the other.”
Ozzy Osbourne might have brought all forms of horror to life, but slaughtering 17 innocent cats in a drunken and drug-influenced stupor is frankly beyond the pale. Not only is the anecdote incredibly horrifying regarding the pure violence ‘The Prince of Darkness’ enacted, but the insouciance with which he retold the incident is bewildering. Killing just one sentient creature by accident is enough for most people to feel bad for the rest of their lives, but 17 in such a wanton way is enough to change the dimension of the rocker forever in many fans’ eyes, drugs or not.

Nchangeo · 22/07/2025 22:18

RIP

Weirdly we started rewatching the Osborne’s series a few nights ago. They are absolutely bonkers. But in a brilliant way. An amazing family.

Nchangeo · 22/07/2025 22:19

And I did not read the thread! Whatttttt!

That was my response because a stupid post questioning a person’s sanity over some cats that mean nothing to you or to anyone else, deserves nothing more.

No I don’t think he was a lovely man. I never said he was. Hell-raising rockers generally aren’t. Though if the reports of the benefits from his concerts are to be believed, he was a fuck sight lovelier than the self-appointed cat saints of MN.
