That was my response because a stupid post questioning a person’s sanity over some cats that mean nothing to you or to anyone else, deserves nothing more.

No I don’t think he was a lovely man. I never said he was. Hell-raising rockers generally aren’t. Though if the reports of the benefits from his concerts are to be believed, he was a fuck sight lovelier than the self-appointed cat saints of MN.

Well Jimmy Saville raised £40 million for charity we shouldn't forget that in a rush to judgement.

I knew it would probably be soon, and he was really ill, but it's sad.

I didn't think it would hit me like this.

That is exactly how I feel, not a particular fan of his music but always found him interesting and he had genuine charisma. Saw a video of him with Kelly's little boy and he was just so loving and gentle with him, a proper doting grandad.

If he was your next door neighbour murdering pet cats you would think differently, he has a knife and gun and was on a drug fuelled rage, luckily there were no people there.

Cause of death?

Don't know but he did have Parkinson's.

What a rude response! Learn some manners!

What a good point. Mind, he harmed children, not cats.

And we should also remember that Adolf Hitler was an animal lover. As was Ian Brady.

Don’t forget Rose West.. she loved that budgie!

He admitted beating his first wife. He bit the head of a live bird.

I thought it was a bat🦇

I thought it was a bat🦇

It was and he had to have rabies injections in his stomach because of it

He also beat Sharon allegedly and cheated on her fairly recently

Charlottejbt · 22/07/2025 22:46

I'm surprised by the admiration for this talentless thug. Also thought he died ages ago.

Ive no idea why people are so shocked. It is sad yes but he was 76 and had looked very frail for a long, long time.

It's a miracle he lasted as long as he did tbh. Rip Ozzy.

Edited

I think it’s a shock because he was playing only two weeks ago, yes in bad health and sitting down but on stage none the less.

He didnt realise it was a real bat until he bit in to it he thought it was a fake one and was livid afterwards, he spoke about it a lot and you can see it affected him. Not sure on the beating wife side of things but as we are talking about 70s 80s, it was probably true but he stopped drink and drugs by the 90s and seemed to have changed a lot. Always seemed genuine and had more charisma and character than the manufactured drones of the current entertainment industry who honestly all seem the same, interview the same, act the same, say the same (just in different ways/accents).

I feel sorry for Sharron. She put up with so many affairs in that marriage and stuck with him until the end.

Blinky21 · 22/07/2025 23:11

Real stand up guy! 🙄

Fatfreefatball · 22/07/2025 23:12

Good riddance cat killing wanker.

TobiasForgesContactLense · 22/07/2025 23:14

For all of his failings, which I think he did realise once he was sober, people are indented to him for the music that he created and what it has spawned. Someone said above that heavy metal hasn't contributed anything to culture. We could argue about that all night long but for 35 years it has been my community and it is amazing to see it in action.

This is a screenshot of the Sabbbath bench just a few minutes ago with people gathering to pay their respects.

I know, it's odd isn't it? How it feels like such a wrench, losing him... He was such a character. The mould was broken when he was made. He was funny, talented, quirky, slightly bonkers, and a FOOOKING LEGEND!

I have such happy memories of playing the vinyl single 'Paranoid' back in the 1970s, and thinking I was sooooooo cool playing metal. Rock on Ozzy! 😍

Absolutely.
I grew up on Ozzy and Black Sabbath, The Clash, The Doors, Dire Straits, AC/DC, Motley Crue….I was very much the black sheep of the family music-wise 🫠😂 And Ozzy’s death just feels like a part of my childhood has come to an end 😔

I think Ozzy was my John Lennon (I realise it doesn't quite fit)
I rarely feel tearful about this kind of thing, obvs it's to do with what he represented. To me he was iconic, one of the Gods.
I paid very little attention to his reality TV shows, but nothing tops Black Sabbath for me.

minerva7 · 22/07/2025 23:54

RIP Ozzy you will be missed 🦇💔

ButteredRadish · 23/07/2025 01:19

@ZenNudistHe didn’t tour, they just did one show in Birmingham

Mrsbunnychops · 23/07/2025 01:35

Black Sabbath were not my thing but I’ve always really liked Ozzy and found him and Sharon both a rare mix of charisma, humour tenacity and humility, may he RIP

Their combined net worth is over $200m. His alone was estimated at $200m. Don't feel too sorry for her. She may have loved him, and suffered for it, but she's not stupid and will be fine.

Mrsbloggz · 22/07/2025 19:19

too much fast living
RIP Ozzy, Black Sabbath always were and always will be my favorite band

He was 76! He didn’t too badly on his life of fast living!! My dad died of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s at 75 and he lived a fairly normal life

So for all his excesses he did all right.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 23/07/2025 06:33

The lack of feelings from some posters on this thread is really sad(but also typical MN). Why come on a thread that is so obviously a thread about someone who has died and spew all your hatred for the man. Just walk on by and ignore it if you don't like him. Would you go to a funeral and spout your hatred for someone? Your views won't change a thing, the music industry is mourning the loss of someone very influential.

The man went through much more than most in his life(go and read about his childhood if you want). He was a deeply flawed man who owned up to his flaws but he was a much loved, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. His family could read this thread (not all of them are famous) and there's a time and place to go on your anti-Ozzy crusade and this isn't it.
