"A real legend"

Lets not forget that he attempted to kill Sharon Osbourne by strangling her

And? She stayed with him, so obviously forgave him and they worked it out! They adored each other, that was quite clear if you watched them in anything together. So to me, 99% legend yes! We all make mistakes we're not proud of. Not saying he wasn't in the wrong, but how many other legends have fucked up badly and have come out of the other side?!
If that's all you had to contribute to this thread, then I'm glad you obviously feel pleased to have got that off your chest!

The fact he accrued that money was down to her iron management. Affairs? just groupies backstage and he was drug/alcohol fuelled in a business where the backstage antics are enouraged. I suspect he was on a long leash but she managed him (plus some other acts) and kept him out there making money and in the public eye.

No doubt it was hard on her, but they had a partnership that worked for them. Might not have been healthy, but 200m buys a lot of therapy. 😁

He actually tried to kill sharon once when he was off his face on drugs.

She forgave him and took him back on the condition that he didnt take those drugs again

Edited

Well maybe he didn't take "those" drugs but he definitely took drugs

Do you say that all the women on here who are being abused by their husbands?

This is absolutely horrific.

faroutmagazine.co.uk/tragic-day-ozzy-osbourne-shot-17-cats/

He recalled plainly: “I was taking drugs so much I was a f***. The final straw came when I shot all our cats. We had about 17, and I went crazy and shot them all. My wife found me under the piano in a white suit, a shotgun in one hand and a knife in the other.”
Ozzy Osbourne might have brought all forms of horror to life, but slaughtering 17 innocent cats in a drunken and drug-influenced stupor is frankly beyond the pale. Not only is the anecdote incredibly horrifying regarding the pure violence ‘The Prince of Darkness’ enacted, but the insouciance with which he retold the incident is bewildering. Killing just one sentient creature by accident is enough for most people to feel bad for the rest of their lives, but 17 in such a wanton way is enough to change the dimension of the rocker forever in many fans’ eyes, drugs or not.

He should have been sectioned for doing that.

RIP Ozzy.
Although frankly a miracle he lived to 76 with the lifestyle he had. Just read an article that said he gave up Acid after taking 10 tabs and going for a walk where he talked to a horse in a field for an hour. The horse told him to fuck off…

I am not a drugtaker but if a drug enablesd me to have a conversation with a horse I would be sorely tempted.

Xmasxrackers · 23/07/2025 19:41

News is coming through that paramedics worked on him for 2 hours, I am assuming maybe a heart attack or similar.

Don’t forget Rose West.. she loved that budgie!

He tried to strangle Sharon Osbourne

He wasn't sectioned (as far as I know) but I read that was the moment he needed help - which he got.
He apparently had deep regrets for much of his behaviour during the drugs/drink era.
At least he did something about it and got himself clean.

That was the point at which he sought help. You can’t section someone for drink or drugs use unless you can prove they have caused a MH problem.

We all know what Osbourne was. He knew himself. So did Sharon - and she chose to help him and stay with him. What’s the point of raking it all up now he’s dead ?

Well as long as he apparently felt bad, let’s just let people kill and hurt whoever and whatever they want, they can blame it on drugs and we will praise them and call them legends.
You do realise the fact that he supposedly got clean and turned his life around was much more likely because his wife/management/team forced him to and had to keep him on a tighter leash after that to save his career and keep him out of prison/hospital not because he wanted to change.

SequinsandSoleros · 23/07/2025 20:00

We are all grey areas, not black/white formulated and all of us can redeem ourselves in our lifetime, thank fuck.
PETA thanked Ozzy for his work in condemning declawing and paid tribute when he passed.

He actually wanted to get sober because his son Jack did it first. Just watched a documentary about it.

Because I don’t believe men like him deserve to be referred to as lovely men, legends and wished to rest in peace.

Well that’s even worse, isn’t it? He didn't care care about murdering his family’s pet cats or attempting to murdering the mother of his children.
No wonder his son needed to get sober in the first place.

I honestly think he knew he didn’t have long. He must have deteriorated quickly, thankfully with enough time for his family to be with him. Whatever you may think of him, there’s not many that would raise £190m for charity in their final weeks. He bowed out in style, and a lot of us Brummies are in mourning. What makes me the most upset is thinking about Sharon and how she’ll cope without him. What a gigantic hole Ozzy has left her with. She loved him very very much

I felt that Mama I’m coming home was a final goodbye not from performing but from everything, I think he knew. Weirdly like a pp though I didn’t expect it to be so soon. My heart also hurts for Sharon who I admire deeply and the kids and I’m so glad he saw Kelly and Sid get engaged.

SilenceOfTheTimTams · 23/07/2025 20:31

I’m a clairvoyant and psychic empath. I can commune with the spirits of the dead. I hear their voices calling to us on this side of the Great Divide.

Ozzy’s been in touch. He says:

Fookin’ Hell! Why am I getting shit from Mumsnet posters who never knew me or Sharon or the kids? Fookin’ tossers. I’m coming to haunt the lot of them, with me bat mate.

It’s gone whispery now and I can’t make it out. I think he’s having a giggle with Lemmy.

Purplebunnie · 23/07/2025 21:10

Good point well made.

Pedallleur · 23/07/2025 21:20

He was Ozzy. Never changed from that character. Only thing he was known for was being a singer in a hard rock act which most of MN wouldn't listen to or the person in a reality show. Now everyone piles in with he did x and bit the head off y. Sharon knew his flaws. Now we want to know the details of his death. I don't. He is dead. Let his family grieve instead of people chasing every story about his life, much of which was fuelled by alcohol and drugs.

What he was in his earlier years, is not what he was in his later years. We live and we learn. That’s what life is about. He admitted his past and tried to make reparation as best he could. That’s all any of us can do. It’s a peculiarity of fame that those who have passed can still be judged at age 76 for the things they did at 26.

Thats bullshit.

He tried to kill Sharon.

He should have been in prison for attempted murder

If your father tried to kill your mother, youkd you say "oh but he changed in his latr years?"
