He admitted beating his first wife. He bit the head of a live bird.

RIP Ozzy. Hope being mourned by mumsnet doesn't ruin your reputation as a hell raiser.

😆 Some of us are metal fans. 🤘🏻 Black Sabbath are the reason most of my favourite bands exist. 😊 Pretty sure some Mumsnetters were hell-raisers themselves back in the day. 😁 Although I'm just a fairly quiet boring Goth. 😇

RIP Ozzy, the man, the myth, the legend. Your legacy will live on.

❤️All love to his family.

This is one of the few celebrity deaths that I’ve felt like I’ve been gut-punched 😔💔

Poor Sharon, and the kids and grandkids 😔
He knew he didn’t have long bless him, he said that he was treating his farewell concert as his funeral, and what a high to go out on after such an incredible life!

The legend will live on 🦇🦇🦇🦇

I know, it's odd isn't it? How it feels like such a wrench, losing him... He was such a character. The mould was broken when he was made. He was funny, talented, quirky, slightly bonkers, and a FOOOKING LEGEND!

I have such happy memories of playing the vinyl single 'Paranoid' back in the 1970s, and thinking I was sooooooo cool playing metal. Rock on Ozzy! 😍

Cause of death?

He had Parkinson’s - natural causes.

I think it was meat.

I just checked wiki. It was the 4th episode and it was ham. I remember DH and I helpless with laughter.

He didn’t bit the head off a live bird. He bit into the head of a bat thinking it was a rubber one that was a stage prop. Sharon was the one who saved the marriage and he supported her through cancer. If you look for the negative you’ll always find it.

Yep loads of metal heads here 🖤🖤

The Alamo is a place in San Antonio TX where there was a battle between Texans when it was still part of Mexico and Mexicans and the Texas dudes were killed. It's a big deal in Texas

He peed on the cenotaph and got arrested. It's sort of blasphemy in Texas.

ChessorBuckaroo · 22/07/2025 20:42

What a man, what a life. Brummie legend. RIP Ozzy.

Rosscameasdoody · 22/07/2025 20:43

I’m another one surprised at the way this has hit me. RIP Ozzy. Total legend.

tothelefttotheleft · 22/07/2025 20:44

@Rosscameasdoody

It's interesting to me that some celebrities are forgiven for what they do and for others it's career ending.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 22/07/2025 20:48

Just like to say women or wives living with that level of addiction and keeping it together like Sharon did through her devotion to her husband deserve special recognition. My mother did it too with my alcoholic father whom she protected and helped. God bless you Sharon if you are reading this xx

Smoke On the Water, great song.

It seemed like he'd be around forever.

I spent many a night in a mosh pit or crowd surfing.

I'm rather boring and middle-aged now.

That was a great song. Not Ozzy/Sabbath though.

Ginlovingmumof4 · 22/07/2025 21:00

Have heard it said that he went to Dignitas, which makes sense with the farewell concert. I hope this is true and that he got to choose his ending. Thoughts with Sharon and the family. May he rest in peace.

RumNotRun · 22/07/2025 21:01

I remember going to the first UK Ozzfest at Milton Keynes Bowl. I don't have much memory of the day, although a fantastic train ride from London to Mk with the train full of Goths and metal heads, all chatting and making friends, but I do remember Sabbath's set. They had big screens and showed iconic film clips with Ozzy superimposed over them, so he was Kate Winslet in the Titanic etc. Then they played the clip from The Shining where Jack smashes the bathroom door with an axe. As the door broke, Ozzy's face appeared -"Here's Ozzy", all the stage lights went up, Sabbath were there, and the crowd went INSANE!!!!
