Help me create a truly unhinged M&S Ocado shop

DH abroad for a week so alone with DC. Ocado slot booked. Will be on my period and they've been monstrous lately. M&S/Ocado treats are required - what are your best suggestions? I WFH so need lunches as well as snacks and evening meals. What are you throwing in the trolley? Online shopping is an art and I want to make this one a genius one!

CHOCOLATE COVERED CUSTARD CREAMS??!!!
Why have I never heard of these?? Who makes them??

dancingwhilstfacingthemusic · 11/03/2025 18:45

Strangely, I did this this week. I’m housebound recovering from my final chemo and getting my sense of taste back. I ordered a load of treats for dh as well.

I’ve been mainlining fancy crisps (including truffle), with guacamole and hoummous. I have an adult size cherry pie to work through (nom).

garlic bread

naice pizzas to feed the children effortlessly.

I am loving the sound of the Mac and cheese.

nice fruit (virtuous feelings)

Fancy drinks like San Pellegrino in little bottles.

do not go bougie and buy a burrata, imagining a healthful lunch. I was very excited about mine and when it arrived it was the size of a small tomato, which caused great disappointment. It was also bloody expensive at £4.25!!! Back to Tesco for me for that.

KnickerFolder · 11/03/2025 18:51

As much as I love cooking, I would want an easy week in the kitchen so I would be browsing the fancier brand ready/easy prep meals like Picard, Daylesford, Itsu, Pasta Evangelists. I’d also be throwing in some fancy food like steak from Hawksmoor and nibbles from Harvey Nick’s and Brindisa. That might end up costing more than your DH’s trip abroad though 😂

The world food section is always worth a browsing if you fancy something a bit different.

LeoTimmyandVi · 11/03/2025 18:52

I did exactly this yesterday - just me so weekly food budget spent on ocado/M&S food delivery. I got the king prawn stir fry and ramen deal, steak and peppercorn sauce, crustless quiche and two deli sides (mozzarella balls and sun dried tomatoes and mixed antipasti) - 3 for £8 deli meal. Curry meal box and moussaka. Snacks are pretzel thins with tex mex dip and fresh prepared fruit.

A total indulgence and treat for me - minimal food prep and I am looking forward to each meal. Enjoy!

ParrotsAteThemAll · 11/03/2025 18:59

M&S white chocolate cookies that come from the bakery section (in clear cellophane), those are to die for!

Settodonotdisturb · 11/03/2025 19:00

Red fox cheese

misspositivepants · 11/03/2025 19:00

Loaded Mexican dip, with sweet potato tortillas

Not only are they chocolate covered, they are outrageously chocolatey covered. They also do the same to Bourbons. Yesterday I discovered custard creams with extra thick filling (not chocolatey though).

neverhappenedtopablopicasso · 11/03/2025 19:03

Amazing suggestions. Thanks!

I’m more savoury than sweet, but I like the sound of the chocolate cherries. Truffle crisps definitely. Maybe some cheesecake?

No not a social media trend, not on socials anymore, but I suppose unhinged is a bit of an overused modern word!

M&S breaded veal
Lots of percy pigs

Eye-popping. Imagine what this order would do to your Ocado profiling!

Also hot smoked salmon

Oh no! Just got offered a Natoora burrata on flash sale but maybe I shouldn’t. Hope you feel better soon!

It is so brilliant how everyone has their own best picks. Thanks! Almost every item on this list is a new one on me and I thought I knew the ropes.

Gastropub pies!
Breaded crispy mushrooms
Layered Tex Mex dip
Picard stuff - everything we have tried has been fabulous!
Chicky chocky speckled eggs (several bags...)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 11/03/2025 19:23

The Picard frozen cheese gougeres from Ocado are out of this world, and the Fondant au Chocolat is really handy to have stashed in the freezer for those times...

ViolentBeaver · 11/03/2025 19:24

Absolutely the M&S chocolate covered custard creams.

Also, the M&S Chicken Caesar Dip. It's divine, but maybe put a little sticker over the bit where it tells you how much of your daily fat allowance is in one tub 😨

CrispyK · 11/03/2025 19:25

Isn’t unhinged more like a bizarre mix of unrelated things, such as

toilet wipes
dumpling mix
dried shiitake mushrooms

ViaRia01 · 11/03/2025 19:26

If you have a sweet tooth, custard creams covered in thick milk chocolate. They’re pure filth!

ImWearingPantaloons · 11/03/2025 19:27

Cornish cruncher cheese, the biscuits that have got really thick chocolate on them, raspberry iced buns, the southern fried chicken goujons....

ImWearingPantaloons · 11/03/2025 19:29

Red pepper pitta chips and cheese tasters (like Wotsits but better)

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 11/03/2025 19:31

The Swiss M&S mountain bar, M&S lemon curd buns, Crosta Mollica Tartufo

LindorDoubleChoc · 11/03/2025 19:31

We had this thread yesterday or the day before.
