Gonna be singing the theme tune for days 😂

🎶Shes a serious granny...🎶

I hate fancy dress and declined an invite. The host asked why I wasn't going, so I told her and she said, just wear what you like, but you will obviously stand out Grin.

I went to a "Kings and Queens" themed party and I wore a Queen T-shirt with a Freddie 'tash. Think outside the box.

Batman would be quite an easy one though, you just need all black clothing, trousers and a top would be fine, and buy a mask and cape.

Or blue top and red skirt and cape and be Supergirl.

Cheap blond wig, jeans, boots, nice top, a big crucifix and a couple of wooden sakes/sticks and you're Buffy the vampire slayer.

Just don't go. I hate fancy dresses too. So puerile...

imtheholidayarmadillo · 24/02/2025 12:26

Sympathies OP! I abhor fancy dress. I think if people are going to declare fancy dress is 'compulsory' they shouldn't be surprised if it affects turnout. Hope you manage to find something you feel comfortable in!

Shufflebumnessie · 24/02/2025 12:54

Get a plain tshirt and write 'Not all superheroes wear capes' on it.
Or if you have red and blue clothing wear that and paint a spiderweb on your cheek (for spiderman/woman).

Wear scrubs and be an NHS superhero

Or, the OP could wear the scrubs and be Dr Strange!

Late to the party so not sure if anyone has suggested Jessica Jones. She wears quite everyday clothes that you might already have or would maybe wear again if you had to buy them.

FortunateCatsGlugDaquirisAllEveningBlindly · 25/02/2025 21:40

Wear your favourite normal clothes and say you came as yourself.
That’s superhero enough!
If they ask what your power are:
withering look
you wouldn’t want to find out
Mum
list is endless…….

mummyhat · 27/02/2025 09:11

If you know anyone who works in operating theatres, XL disposable green theatre gown x2 (wear one normally and another done up back to front), make a spiky tinfoil tiara = statue of liberty.

rwalker · 27/02/2025 09:14

Black pants /Leggings and top with cape and mask possibly red wig and go as bat woman

Pippyls67 · 27/02/2025 11:52

Tie an apron around your waist and carry a baby doll. You’re a mum. All mums have to be superheroes. The other women will love it.

Mooandmae1 · 02/03/2025 10:22

Cheap pink jacket from vintemed and buy an iron on Pink ladies decal from Ebay . You can were all black underneath if you feel more comfy with pumps and a little scarf 50s style tied round the neck x

ComealongSpring · 02/03/2025 11:25

Batwoman. Simple all black leggings and top, a cape and eye mask thing. Slitetos if you want to vamp it up. Enjoy

ComealongSpring · 02/03/2025 11:25

Stilettos even

ComealongSpring · 02/03/2025 11:27

Or James Bond, just a black suit, white shirt, tux

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 02/03/2025 11:33

Not to derail (although I am) - what’s with the NHS hero outfits? You either work for them or in the main don’t really ever have to use them.

I love fancy dress and would go all out costume wise - might even try to pass my wheelchair off as some mystical animal- kind of like the NHS animal who helped me end up in a wheelchair- no hero’s to me!
